I cant speak finnish very well= Mä en puhu suomea niin hyvin (I don't speak Finnish so well)
'niin' can be taken away, it empathizes yes, but doesn't sound very fluent. It can be replaced with 'kovin hyvin', witch is better translation for 'very well'.

Well... i'd use Minä instead of Mä because it's colloquial in southern finland... not elsewhere....
Mä is just normal slang word. It's used more than official minä.

This 'mä' is widely used around Finland, not just south. There are variations of dialects that make it sound a little bit different depending on what part of Finland you are. Also 'mie' and 'miu' are used in eastern parts of Finland. In northern Finland they make 'mä' it bit longer so it is more like 'mää' and 'sää' in meaning of me and you. At western parts (where I'm from) we mess 'minä' or 'mä' and 'olla' verb together.
When I say 'I'm coming home' normally it goes 'Minä olen tulossa kotiin.' but western coast it is 'Molen tulos kottiin.'
And 'I am' -> 'Määole' and so on. This should rather be heard, I bet it sounds crazy.

(When I talk now, I say 'mie' - I and 'sie' - you. Living five years in eastern Finland did the trick.. I try to keep it away when I translate things)

Nockz the Dark Cellist
Ok any help would be gladly taken, how do you say (both spell and pronounciate);

“I love ____”

“I cant speak finnish very well”

“Apocalyptica is the coolest band ever”

... Also I would interested to see what my username is in finnish (nockz is a made up word but cellist is a cello player incase you didnt know)

Thank you very much (go raibh míle maith agat)

Slán

I think the translations sound more fluent like this

“I love ____”----> "rakastan ______" (ra-'cus-tan) (english pronunciation) (ra-kas-tan (more like japanese way))

“I cant speak finnish very well”---->"en puhu suomea kovin hyvin"

“Apocalyptica is the coolest band ever”---->"Apocalyptica on viilein bändi ikinä"(straight translation) or you could say "...paras bändi ikinä"(the beat band ever)

Nockz the Dark Cellist ----> Nockz - pimeä sellisti (wich sounds a bit weird in finnish becouse "pimeä" can be understood as crooked-minded, too....)

I would love a full translation of any of Jenni Vartianen's songs, especially Ihmisten Edessa, and could anybody perhaps tell me what this means?

Fiksuille ei tarvi selittää, mänteille ei kannata yrittää

a friend has it on her msn xD

One does not need to explain to intelligent and one cannot be bothered to explain to stupid. (not most fluent way saying it, but best way I can figure it now)

I'm not familiar with Jenni Vartiainen, so cannot help there.
Ihmisten edessä could be translated as 'In front of People'.

Hi. I'm trying to order books from a Finnish bookstore online. I'm having some trouble with this:

They ship to Europe for 40 Euros and outside Europe for 60 Euros (right?). One should expect 5-12 days shipping in Europe and 7-30 days outside Europe for delivery... a bit I can't figure out, and then a list of places they've already shipped to. Is this correct?

Quote:
Toimitus ulkomaille: Eurooppaan 40 euroa, Euroopan ulkopuolelle 60 euroa
Ulkomaan toimituksien palautukset otetaan vastaan mikäli toimitettu tuote on väärä.

Maat, joihin toimitamme: Alankomaat, Australia, Belgia, Bulgaria, Espanja, Irlanti, Islanti, Iso-Britannia ja Pohjois-Irlanti, Italia, Itävalta, Kanada, Kreikka, Kroatia, Kypros, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Liettua, Luxemburg, Malta, Monaco, Norja, Portugali, Puola, Ranska, Romania, Ruotsi, Saksa, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Sveitsi, Tanska, Tsekin tasavalta, Turkki, Ukraina, Unkari, Valko-Venäjä, Venäjä, Viro, Yhdysvallat.

Seuraavaan vaiheeseen siirrytään painamalla "Jatka" -painiketta.
