Right. So as was stated in the other thread I had previously, Pulse (also known as Kairo for the Japanese version) is an upcoming movie( and an already released and extremly well dont Japanese movie). It is of the Horror genera, and in it bad things happen to everyone. This will the an in a nutshell type of explanation.

The basic premise is:
-The afterlife is overflowing with the dead, i.e. not enough space for everyone.
-The dead come to the land of the living to stop them from existing.
-They come through technology, like the internet, computers, tvs, etc.
-Make people depressed enough to kill themselves

There was also an extended discussion I had planned, but no one showed and I dont quite recall all of the questions nor points asked, but I believe it went something like this:

*Do you think that the otherworldly entities could use technology to come forth en mass?
*Would it be plausible for them to use technology as such a medium for transition?
*Did anyone hear/know/watch/other (about) this?

[Edit] The movie appearantly comes out sometime this month. August 11. I believe.[/Edit]

Have you ever seen the movie, White Noise?
Have you ever tried to do what they do?
It's risky, but it DOES work, if you have the patience.

No I have never seen the movie White Noise. I simply didnt get around to it, and still havent gotten around to it. I so want to see it, though.

I have never tried anything regarding EVP. My excuse is cowardance combined with the reluctance to spend money on it, I posses no form of recording devices that are the least bit portable and Im not about to borrow one from the media department at my college.
sweatdrop I tend to lose things like that, or they end up in a state of disrepair.

I have no doubt that it works, and that it comes with risks, I mean, what doesnt? Right?

Anyway, in Pulse, the dead actively seek out the attention of the living. One way was through the internet itself, they invaded a guys home though his computer when he logged onto a certain website. The main charachter in the American version can be seen reciving emails from her just recently dead friend, even though her computer isnt connected to the internet. Its not like the living opened up a way for the dead to come through, its like the dead force their way in.
Thats what I got from the Japanese version anyway.

If you ever get a chance, try this.
Get a camcorder that plugs in to the TV. Point the camera at the TV and set it on a level, flat area like a TV dinner stand or table. Sit back and watch. Sometimes, the results are CREEPY! You can have the same effect with mirrors pointing at each other with nothing standing between them. It is.... not as effective but it sometimes works.

Well, technically, it's not like the deas trying to come through. It's that the realm of the dead is overflowing with spirits. The land of the dead is intangible, so naturally, the dead flood into another intangible space: the internet. Once the web fills with spirits, they move on to radio waves, broadcast, and so on.

Interesting... I'm too afraid to screw with the supernatural. xp I'm a wuss, yeah, but I'm safe! stare

I believe that it's possible because spirits are mostly energy, but weak energy. Our electricity and various other electronics may give them enough energy to become more solid. All though I believe this, I don't think that ghosts are capable of utilizing this to their benefit and are probably unaware of it.

What exactly is it that happens? Be specific

The American version was pathetic and predictable. Kairo was so much better. The only good remake I've seen of a Japanese movie is "The Grudge." I like the American version better than the original Japanese.
