Lenta

Carlos had spent the last few days sleeping, and Lenta finally decided that all of that sleep was unhealthy. So, scooping the sleeping Carlos up, she hopped into her pickup truck and drove off to the Center.

By the time she reached the Center, Carlos had awoken, and it had taken many red stoplights and pacifier cleanings to keep him calm. Lenta was glad to see that the Center wasn't crowded, and quickly stepped inside. She made her way towards the library, silently praying that Carlos wouldn't decide to throw his pacifier at any of the books. She definitely couldn't afford to replace 'em at the moment.

Carlos seemed pleased with the silence that filled the library. He soon drifted off as Lenta rocked him back and forth, her eyes scanning the pages of The Time Machine.

He was holed up in the library again, something that awas... well, was no surprise, considering how Flitch was all but the resident bookworm of the Sin'aeis. However, he hadn't come alone today. It was rare for the blue-haired boy to bring anyone with him, but today his brother Soliari, the phoenix child had tagged along. Flitch was surprised that the silver-haired boy had insisted on coming-people and social places usually frightened him almost to the point of nervous collapse. Yet he had wanted to come, and so Flitch had brought him.

Flitch didn't quite know where Soliari was at the moment, for he was currently buried in a book whilst the phoenix child wandered amongst the bookshelves in search of his own book to settle down to.

Had he been alone, Flitch would have probably taken a while to become aware of the arrival of Lenta and Carlos, if he did at all notice them.

However, Soliari had noticed them. Having an intense phobia of strangers, the phoenix child panicked, and rushed to the one thing that he felt would protect him- his brother.

"Flitch!" Soliari hissed, shaking Flitch's shoulder. "Flitch!"

"Hm?" he aksed, glancing up at Soliari, frowning at the panicked look on the boy's face. "What is it?"

Flapping his small wings, Soliari gestured wildly towards where he had seen the strange woman and the baby. "PEOPLE!" he hissed, quietly enough so that only Flitch could hear.

Knowing full well that Soliari would work himself up into some panic attack unless he checked it out, Flitch snapped the book shut and rose from his chair. "All right, Sol. Let's go check it out..."

It wasn't easy to miss the new arrivals- the library wasn't extraordinarily big, and it was always fairly empty. Lacking the natural fear of strangers his brother had, Flitch smiled at the woman and baby when he spotted them, waving in a friendly manner whilst Soiliari chose to peer around the corner of the bookcase until it was deemed safe.

"Hello," Flitch said in greeting, offering a friendly smile. "It's not often we see people in here. Who might you be?"

Lenta winced as the sounds of Soliari and Flitch's voices reached her ears, and she nestled Carlos deeper into his blanket to try and keep him from hearing. He, however, had already heard, and was staring intently towards the sounds as Soliari and Fletch appeared. Lenta pulled an old candy wrapped from her pocket, folded it so that no residue would touch the book, then tucked it between the pages she was on and set the book to the side.

"We're not often around, otherwise you might have more visitors here." She responded, smiling towards Fletch. "I'm Lenta, and this is Carlos." She motioned towards the bundle in her arms.

Lenta didn't much like strangers when she had to go up to them, but since Fletch had come to her instead, she seemed to be quite at ease. Carlos, however, was a different story. His ears were perked and his thumb jammed in his mouth, and his jaws were working fast as he gnawed on the stubby appendage.

Flitch smiled, bobbing his head in a friendly greeting. "Ah. It's nice to meet you, Miss Lenta and Carlos. I'm Flitch, and that's my brother Soliari."

He pointed at Soliari, whose eyes widened and he only shrank further back behind the bookcase. Flitch rolled his eyes but laughed good-naturedly. "Soliari's really shy. Sorry."

He turned back to peer interestedly at Carlos, flashing the boy a large, friendly grin. It was obvious the boy was a Sin'aeis, so it was only natural Flitch's interest was piqued. He knew a fair number of the others already, but it seemed that there were more and more that kept popping up! It was always so fun to meet others, even though Flitch was finding that he was much older than these children more often as of late. Curious. Oh well. It was good that he got along with young children, then.

"Um... Is it okay if we play with Carlos a little? I don't play rough or anything Miss Lenta, so you won't have to worry."

"Of course! Go right ahead." Lenta's smile grew, and she passed Carlos, bundled in his blankets, over to Flitch. "If he bothers you, or gets too noisy, just tell me, alright?" And with that, Lenta returned to her book, her brow furrowed as she continued reading of the Eloi and the Morlocks.

What? Wait! Where was he going? Why was Lenta handing him to this kid? Carlos shut his eyes, his ears flattening against the sides of his head. Great... Given to some pointy-eared kid with big eyes by his treacherous dog-mother! The kit-kat Sin'aeis let his pacifier fall into the nooks of his blanket, then gripped the comforting cloth with his now-free hand, cracking one eye open to stare up at Flitch. He was still sucking vigorously on his thumb. Maybe, maybe if he looked cute and held still, this new boy wouldn't decide to drop him or pull on his ears or do some other dastardly thing...
