"They're beautiful, aren't they?"
"No!"
The demon tahnee looked down at his son, whose face was scrunged up in a wince of annoyance and sighed. Was he going soft? Perhaps. But as far as he could remember, the solace of the stars had always been beautiful to him.
The child was just a brat.
He looked up at the stars once more, ignoring the sound of small feet pattering off. The boy had a penchant for exploration, and Adghal could smell his son a mile away. The boy was safe.

Shh, someone is coming.
Who is it?
What is it?
What part of shh do you not understand?

"Whadda care about stars." The toddler mumbled, kicking a stone angrily. He followed the progress of the stone as it skittered across the dark ground, landing in a pile of treasure. At least, to Damien's widened eyes, it looked like treasure. Big, shiny, colorful rocks, with his own sitting amidst them like a dark and dreadful king. He scooped up his newfound hoarde and skittered off into the night, cackling.

Adghal's ears perked when he heard a female voice cry out in the distance. A moment later, as expected, his son stumbled out of the bushed and ran to his father, his stubby legs carrying him as fast as they could into the safety of his embrace. The demon looked down at his child with a stern, reproachful look.
"What did you do?"
Damien held up four rocks, three of which shined brightly in swirling colors, while the fourth was cold, black and dead.
"I'se smackin' people with my pretty treasure!"
Adghal snatched the black stone from his son's arms and knocked him gently on the head with it. "Is that why I heard someone screaming just now?"
The boy nodded fervently, and grinned like a proud fool. Adghal's eyes narrowed venomously.
"What have I told you about that..?"
Damien rolled his eyes. "Daaaaaaaaaaaadddd... It would have knocked her out, but they so small, I just missed her head!"
"Then why didn't you finish her off?"
Finally, Damien looked ashamed. "She kept screaming bad words.. I was scared."
Adghal threw the rock back into the bushes, and whispered to the boy as he was squirming out of his grasp to get it back.
"Next time, don't miss."
