[II] Id, Ego, And Superego: Simplified.

A wizened old scientist peered over the top edges of a maze. His spectacles, which hid his small twinkling blue eyes, looked down upon the three mice that were place at the three furthest edges of the rather large triangular maze. Dr. Herman, which was labeled clearly on his name tag, was performing an experiment to test out the abilities of his three precious rodents. Each pet was within a small compartment, and were prodding at the small gates that kept them from their cheese. If they managed to navigate through the maze, they'd eventually get to the middle, where a large block of cheese lay for the taking. Dr. Herman's old frail hands moved to the nearby lever, pulled it, and let the three small barriers fall flat against the maze floor. All three sensed the cheese and were off in seconds.

The first rat, lets call her 'Id', rushed forward into the maze. She dived forward and back, frantically looking for the cheese that hid just ahead of the very walls she was bashing against. Every second the doctor had to repress a chuckle, because Id was running within the maze without any inkling for direction.

As the first rat, Id, ran around the corner of the maze the second rodent, let's call him 'Ego', began his adventure into the triangular maze. He moved slowly, following the wall to his left. Slowly, but surely, the smaller mouse made his way towards the center of the maze -where the piece of cheese still was untouched. His nose traveled on the wall, nudging it ever so often, and he began to get closer to the middle of the whole walled triangle.

Still stifling his laughter, Dr. Herman took his shimmering gold wedding ring off his right hand. He placed it in front of our first rat, Id. Sadly enough, she was entranced by the shininess of the circular object, and halted her movement towards the cheese all together. Herman burst out in laughter, shocking his nearby comrades in the lab.

While the first and second rat moved forward with their individual 'strategies', our third rat continued to rush through the maze unhampered. She, who we will call 'Superego', had her nose up in the air. Ego rushed towards the scent of the cheese, and was continuously fraught with the appearances of walls. It moved through the maze with the same pace as Ego, but did not get any closer.

Soon enough Superego was upon the cheese, and was gaining Dr. Herman's applause. However, though, Ego was following behind the other mouse, while Id continued to marvel at the gold ring. They both dashed towards the cheese. As Ego passed Superego, oddly enough, Superego placed his left hind leg in front of Ego's front right leg- sending Ego flying into a wall. Superego continued to rush forward towards the cheese, and was at the item before Ego could get back up.

Dr. Herman frowned, and stopped laughing, as he looked at Superego's lack of morals/sportsmanship. He brought down his left hand, picking up the small rodent. As he lifted the small lab animal, he lifted up Id with his right hand. The doctor placed Superego into a cage to his furthest left, and placed Id beside the piece of cheese. While he did this, Superego stared up at the man, contemplating what the human was doing.

Then the two remaining mice began to nibble at the orange block of cheese. heart
