I think he's pure Japanese, because just like in the Philippines, there are those who have dark skinned and those who are light skinned ^^ it's a no brainer! It's the same with other race...some have lighter skin than others smile

Nooooo, if any of you read the manga, volume two, u know the anime follow up,hen the russian samurai is being ridiculed for not being japanese, Mugen gets offended and shouts (something along the lines of) "I'm not from Japan either" i've looked for a manga scan to prove this but i can't find it, i'll just have to have my friend scan in the page from my own copy of it, or if any of you have better luck finding it then i did

XxChris43xX Miss-dark8607 He's tanned. I forget what they called people like him. Probably what you would call a Dark Asian. They have them in China and most other Asain nations. If you read Peach girl you will get a better clue of what I am talking about. In short he is pretty much Japanese. Don't forget he's from Ryu Kyu aka Okinawa..... People in Islands like those are born tan..... your right plus all of his old friends had tans it kind of like Wakka. i call it a island tan. he is not black or white. he is asian, japanese or Filipino

DoubleMintGum Personally I don't think it matters much what race Mugen is. And it really shouldn't matter much to anyone else either.
Mugen is Mugen, nothing more, nothing less.
And to slap labels onto anyone for that matter, is stupid. Labels by race, religion, clothes, etc. It's all stupid.
I would lock this for thread that specific reason, but I'm not that mean. i agree with DoubleMintGum but i think he's mixed because he lived on the Ryukyu Islands and those are near the East China Sea
