I have this PS game, let's call it "X",and no PS.
I have been able to play it on my PS2,but not able to save it.
My question: If I bought a PS memory card, would it fit in and save PS games on the PS2?
Or would I have to go out and buy a PS?
Thankies.

Yeah, the PS Memory Card should work with the PS2, just not the other way around.
By the way, you're not playing Final Fantasy 7, are you? stare

Oh, good, I just wanted to check if you were actually playing it now. I figured if you were calling the game "X", it wouldn't be a good game.

For some reason, all of my PS games don't save to my PS memory card when I use it on a PS2. Does haveing the small version of the PS2 make any difference?

I believe you can use a Ps memory card in s Ps2 and save Ps games on it from the Ps2.
You can also put saves from your Ps memory card onto your Ps2 memory cards. But you can't not access that save in gameplay. Its more of a back-up purpose.

ps2 is just an upgraded fully backwards compatible ps1. You just can't save ps1 data onto a ps2 memory card, though, you can store it on the ps2 card, it's just inaccessable if you try to have the game read the card.

But there are nifty ps1/ps2 hybrid memory cards that can store both. There's a switch on the card that tells it to operate in which mode so that the PS2 will know how to read it in that particular instance.
I almost want one, but then I remembered my horrible experience with offbrand cards.

UFO tofu For some reason, all of my PS games don't save to my PS memory card when I use it on a PS2. Does haveing the small version of the PS2 make any difference? Same.
Though the first game I attempted to save was FFIX. Maybe the Memory Card is too small for the game your trying?

I'm going to borrow my friend's PS memory card and see if it works. I'll have the answer by tomorrow, for sure.
