I'm curous to know if anyone has done applied art, such as handmaking Items and such.
I have two male Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls for which I created costumes to compliment my own Bakura Amane cosplay from Ohayocon 2006. These costumes were of "Thief King"/Bakura Ryoh, respectivly.
BJDs are anywhere from 1/8 to 1/4th scale. My boys are 60cm [24in] in length. The project orignally called for two scale-Rings, but I was only able to make one.

The prop took five hours to make. It was constructed by hand from a metal jewelry ring, a Coke can, clay, super glue and gold spray paint. The ring was one inch in diameter, and the planchette's added perhapse another 1/4 of an inch.
I have limited images of the cosplay itself. My own costume was a blood-soaked skirt and blouse and heavy makeup to reflect her violent death in a car accident [this is cannon, according to the character guidebook although no images of Bakura Amane actually exist]. My costume for Bakura-kun was his light-colored manga school uniform with a custom wig and different shoes [not his New Balance sneakers]. I am most proud of the Thief King's costume, as it was six separate pieces all hand-sewn. The end result looked very close to the source images.

The BJD pictured is a Luts El. His name is Jaharian : 3
Please feel free to discuss any props you have made and show off pictures whee

I have a sennen ring, puzzle, and eye but they're extreamly poor quality. I used Sculpey clay, wire and a mixture of gold and bronze paint spending thirty minutes to an hour constructing each. In the end, they turned out warped and just aweful in general. Plus, the sennen puzzle is so damn heavy, I can't wear it for long periods of time.

The picture is a bit discolored, but whatever.
Minako, your pictures were great. 3nodding

Sculpty is bad for props. It breaks easily and it's very heavy. Avoid using any type of clay anywhere other than to do something like the Horus Eye decoration on the Puzzle or Ring - and even then, coat the back of the symbol with super glue.
It's a good start, but the thing I hate about any clay [which is another reason I refuse to use it a lot of prop construction] is that it always comes out looking like clay. These Items especially were supposed to be poured molten gold, and clay just doesn't give off a good sense of that...

Thank you for the advice. 3nodding

What material would be good for making the Sennen items, MistressMinako?
EDIT: Heh, I forgot to say so before, but those look great, BK and MistressMinako! ^^

I made a few clay/scupley figurines but none of them looked very good. The one I made with sculpey ended up getting destroyed since my father didn't let me bake it - he was afraid it'd ruin the oven.

Oh, that's too bad. D: But if you have any figures that have survived, and can get photos online, that would be awesome!
