Well, it seems that a few of us thought the Torchwood speech was a bit much, but upon reconsideration, I wonder if there's more to it than just a shameless plug for the Captain Jack spin-off series. Queen Vic seemed to imply that the institute may be antagonistic to the Doctor (an evil version of UNIT, as someone else put it). Couple that with the Doc trying to bring down Harriet Jones's government, and that's two very powerful British women that the Doctor seems to have irritated. How much longer before Torchwood decides to aim its sights on him?

Tennant says in the commentary for this episode that he wanted the Doctor to wear the glasses all the time, but the idea was shot down by higher-ups. Hmm... what'dya think, ladies? Sexier with or without?

I wouldn't call Rose a chav, per say. My picture of chavs is rude, loud mouthed, violent people. Rose is too nice.
Oh, and I'm sure he hit the TARDIS because it was going all wonky, wasn't it? The scene where you see it flying through the vortex - it's bumping around everywhere. Which is why they went back an entire century further than they meant to. 3nodding And besides, the old girl's taken much more than a little hammering before! And besides, machines are there to be walloped - can anyone HONESTLY put up their pixellated Gaia hand and say they've never hit a computer/tv/radio/phone/games ocnsole/whatever to get it to work? wink blaugh
