I was just thinking about strikes that cause numbness in parts of an attackers body. I know a few techniques that cause numbness and have used one a few times that causes a persons arm to go numb. I know that there are techniques that can cause temporary paralyzation dose any one no how dangerus it is to use these techniques on some one. What styles teach these techniques alot. Most of the strikes I know that can cause numbness I feel are not suted for use on an attacker you are not wanting to seriously harm.
I looked up the strike that I normaly use I don't know what its called in other styles. I have hit people here on accident during training. If you stick out your arm hand faceing palm down on the back of the arm 2 inches from the elbow twords your hand. A good knife hand strike will hit it.
I think this is the name of the point.
Shousanli paralyzes the arm and can have a weakening effect for several minutes.
I knew of this when I was a kid and used it in a few fights some one would throw a punch I would side step it and hit them in the arm with a knife hand. That ended a few fights when I took Tae Kwon Do I learnd more about it. Lately in my Wing Chun class I have found that wile useing serten blocks like Gum Sao I will get carried away and end up palm striking that point. This hapend to me while I was practising with one of my Sifu's he blocked my punch and it hit me right on that point my arm just went numb and it was a little painfull not to mention he had just completed his Iron Palm training it felt like he smacked me with a brick.

Some of the advanced bunkai in my style targets pressure points. There's lots of techniques that'll numb up a limb. Many blocking techniques, when applied properly hit nerve clusters.

I was thinking of techniques that would cause this in more or less the whole body. If these techniquese are harmfull or not if they will cuase long term damage to the attackers body it wouldnt be as usefull for what I am wanting to use it for. The technique I talked about above dose not realy stop an attacker for long if there is a style out there that can cause temporary paralysis that would be something to learn you could do this to an attacker and they wouldnt be able to attack any more alowing you to get away or whatever.
Techniquese like sealing the breath and stuff will stop some one but you don't do this on some one you don't want dead thats where I am stuck most vital points I was tought don't work for taking somone alive. As for joint locks I like joint locks but I know very few and I would rather be traind in something that alows me to walk away from an attacker not tied to one.

From my studies hitting one of two pressure points in sequence will cause a lot of pain and numbness. Hitting three, four or five has a cummulative effect that can lead to knockout, or serious injury. Manipulating these points overloads the nervous system. After enough hits the brain says "no mas!"

It's a wealth of wonderful tactical info. Some call Bullshido on it, but any nuerologist will verify the effects. 3nodding

In my Wing Chun training at this time my teacher is haveing me direct my strikes to scertin points on the body. We don't go over it much he just has me punch at an actual spot not just hit to the chest or face he tells us what these points do but thats about it. Some of the points can cause death pain or knockout. Wing Chun aims almost all techniques to an exact point on the attacker striking multiple weak spots in a flury of punches.
there is a series of techniques I use farly often a strait punch comes in and I Pak Sao or slap it to the side and punch the lower ribs on the side of the attacker. Then Chun Sao to cover the attackers arm line my elbow up with the attackers face and knife hand between the eyes folowed by an elbow to the forhead wile holding the back of the head with the other hand. As the elbow moves away with that hand catch and pull the head down exposing the back and elbow to the back of the head with the opposite elbow just below the skull thats a knockout point.
By the time they get hit with the last technique they may be out already but thats one attack patern we were tought. I was also tought a technique where you pull the head back opening up the neck so you can punch the throat thats self explanatory. Last time I was in class we talked about a point in the leg. On the side of the leg two inches above the knee is a point that if kicked corectly can knock some one out. one other thing if you kick some one on the inside of the leg in the same place two inches up from the knee it will hurt alot I don't know if it will do any thing other than hurt but if you hit there good they will not be moveing to fast.

there are two places i can think of that have cool numbing effects: 1 knife hand where the neck and shoulder meet 2 this is a technique that cops use frequently the point is on the side of either leg just a few inches above the knee there is a huge bundle of nerves that come together and if you hit them hard enough it will not only numb that leg but the other one as well and i guess that i should say numb is the wrong word so much as disable possibly for long periods of time

I was told that being kicked there on one of those points can posibly knock some one out but I don't know I know it hurts and will go nomb.
