What does it mean? Himitsudane?

Yep. In Hirigana.

Yeah, I know, I can read hiragana (and some katakana..and a few kanji) but I wonder what the word means.

Himitsu - secret
da - it is
ne - isn't it?

So...It's a secret, isn't it? I'm guessing...based on translations by my romaji dictionary.

It is. It makes me jealous. I wish I could learn Japanese, but no, I'm stuck with cruddy Spanish.

I take it after school. I have to take French in school. But then again, I go to a language college (it's called that even though it's a high school). ^^
I'm falling behind though. -.-;

Yeah, I'm stuck with Spanish, too.

Since there is no translation of "Yoder" into any other langauge, seeing as it is my real name in another language, my nickname on Gaia "Snowman" is "Yukidaruma" in japanese I like it, because it means: "Man of Snow" and it starts in a "Y"!

Bingbing! I-Angel wins ^_^

And you know, if you really want to you can learn some Japanese on your own without official classes. I've never had an opportunity to take Japanese (even at my college ;_; ), but I have learned some on my own just out of personal interest. Reading hiragana and katakana has become second-nature to me thanks to obsessive romaji-izing of Japanese lyrics books back in middle school. XD

I have some really good learn-Japanese sites bookmarked too, if anyone wants me to dig 'em up for you. :3

I didn't think of that. rofl

Good one, though.

On a serious note, that would work.

But think about it, I don't think that it would be that easy. To think that the Japanese have a word for 'asexual'? We know how controversial this subject is--it could be just as hotly debated, or possibly even more so, in Japan than it is in the United States or elsewhere. Does asexuality go against Japanese culture? I don't know, but I'd love to find out. I hope that it isn't considered blasphemous or anything.

I started yelling about asexuality and platonic love to people on the Green today. I love that place. I hate it equally, of course, but I still love it.
They were trying to insist vegetarianism was morally wrong. We then went on to religion, abortion, and eventually the conversation turned to sex. And I made sure my views were heard.
The people there are very open. They said it was against human nature, but they also said vegetarianism was against human nature. I agree, on both accounts, despite being a semi-vegan, anti-racist asexual who's big on gay rights and belives in people's right to whatever religion they choose.

As for the Japan thing -- they seem very accepting of homo- and bi- sexuality, so why not asexuality?

You're right, Xumbra, that might be pretty hard to get across. It would actually fit in nicely with some of their religions. There wouldn't be any sexual misconduct or sin to deal with. Also, Taoism and "whatever religion believes in Chakra" both say that the sexual portion of life should not be over-exerted and should be used sparingly lest negative effects on fatigue levels, mental health, and STDs. I'm not sure what Confucianism(sp?) says on these matter, though.

I only express my doubt because I am unsure of the various cults and religious beliefs of the Japanese--hell, the modern Japanese, even. They might worship Pikachu, for all I know.

That is very likely. rofl
