Okay, I have a homebrewed world called Oppulencia. In this world there happens to be a country/continent that has evolved to a sort of Renaissance state. They have guns and a few simple machines (mainly golems) at thier disposal.
This new class, Engineer, is going to be expert with machines. I was thinking of giving them the Ranger's favored enemy ( working only for constructs.)
Stat- wise, they are copying Bards. Same BAB and Saves. Even the same Hitdice. I also know taht I want them profficient with guns.^^
Any ideas or advice on this new class would be great! I'll check back often, so keep those ideas brewing.^^

Not to burst your bubble or anything but why not simply use the ranger class and just take constructs as a favored enemy?

lightsenshi Not to burst your bubble or anything but why not simply use the ranger class and just take constructs as a favored enemy? Because the skills wouldn't line up. The BAB wouldn't make sense for it, and the survival and nature skills wouldn't make sense either, seeing as they are city-dwellers and not out in the wild that much.>< Plus the...>insert big long list of reasons here<

So I could take the Bard's BAb and stuff...Twist in some Rogue skills like pick lock, disable device, I thinnk they should also have listen, spot and search.
Then I think I will give them Trapfinding.
Im open to more class features. I'll think of upping thier hit dice later if I can.><

I'd make them a mix of rogue and ranger. Perhaps insted of favored enemey even give the engineers a version of sneak attack against construts only and giving them mostly rogue skills plus craft and free skill focus [craft]. If you have your DMG on hand check out page 175 for tips they have for creating classes.
