Do you think people over overly critical with their comments on artwork in the Art Arena?

I submitted some art and it's not my best work and it does need a lot of help, but I did try and I am a human being with feeling too and I do not thing I am deserving of some of the horrible comments people bestowed upon me. It actually brought me to tears one time when I looked at them. There are much, much better artist on here but just because my art is not professinal looking doesn't mean it is not important to me.

I think people are over critical and just plain mean in all the arenas, but, the art arena means more to me because someone can put their heart and soul into a piece of art and it might not be goood compared to tthers but it is good for them.

You'd have to give an example.

I think that all comments are potential, unless they are personal direct insults on the artist and not the artwork. Though, some are not prone to critiques much and get easily depressed by honest and sincere, yet crude and straight-forward comments.

Edit: I think you over-reacted. To be frank, only one or two posts were about you or exagerated. The rest were just opinions and how you could improve it, some even said you could've done better. That means they believe you have the potential to improve your work.

Hm... gently put: They're just opinions and not everyone comments are the same or the same level (even if the current comments you've recieved on the first page basically mention the same thing). If you draw tears at the sight of other's opinons, then maybe you should hold back on revealing the world (internet world) your work and just start with a smaller group till you can accept criticism or dismiss it.

Believe me, at the expo-art I hosted of my work, some didn't enjoy my abstract art and some believed it was mere doodling and didn't signify much. I could've stormed out and humiliated myself, but instead I swallowed my pride and either agreed or discussed with civilty.

P.s My expo-art was in Montreal, and even though some true art critics didn't enjoy my work, most did 3nodding

be careful, some people are stupid and think that bashing is fun or useful (somehow)

but also be aware that if you aren't ready to take some harsh and to the point criticisms it's best to stay within the cave until you're ready.

But I do think they need to be somewhat critical when it comes to peoples' art.
I mean, if your art realy does suck, they're somewhat obliged to tell you.
