Obsidian understood Scarlett's pain all too well. She had spent her whole life wishing someone, anyone, would take the time see her for her, not as some reject that nobody wanted. Obie quickly brushed away the dampness in her eyes and looked up at Scarlett's apology.
"Don't apologize Scarlett. You can't help the way you feel. And believe me... if you don't let it out in some way, then it will eat away at you. I know that all too well. If... if you needed to talk to someone, I'm glad that I could be here for you," she said softly.

"Thank you again, Obie," Scarlett sniffed, wiping her nose again. "Let's talk about happier things."
Scarlett took out her notebook and biology book, shaking her head. Not exactly the kind of fun she had in mind. Though the intention was to study biology, Scarlett's focus was anywhere but. Staring into her bag, Scarlett found absolutely nothing of interest. In her disorientation, she left half of what she needed at her room. Sighing, she closed her bag and scooted it over.
"What things are you intersted in, Obie?" Scarlett said, smiling. "Anything's fine."

Obsidian watched her attempt to find the things she needed to study with then give up. Smiling softly she reached up and tucked her hair behind her ear.
"I'm afraid I'm not a terribly interesting person. I spend a lot of time reading and studying. The only thing I guess I do for pure fun is tend to my bonsais," she replied with a small shrug. "See? I'm not so very interesting. What about you Scarlett? What do you like?"

"You tend miniature trees? That's interesting! I always wondered how people keep them so small?" Scarlett giggled. "Which kind of tree is your favorite? I saw a mini sakura once, it even bloomed in the spring time!"
A few tears lingered on her cheeks, but Scarlett merely brushed them off. She leaned on the table, remembering that she had snack foods in her bag. Digging in the bag again, she pulled out a plastic container with a mixute of nuts, dried fruits, and candy coated chocolate and peanut butter pieces. Give the tub a good shake, Scarlett peeled back the green plastic lid.
"Want some trail mix?" Scarlett said, taking a small handful. "I'm really into dancing, so most of my free time goes into improving my moves. It's been amazing stress relief, but I need to be focused or I could break something if I'm not careful."

Obsidian smiled again at Scarlett's exclamation. "It's quite simple to keep them small. It involves quite a bit of careful pruning mostly. My favorite is my Juniper. It came out so perfectly. I'll bet the Sakura one would be beautiful." She would need to keep an eye out for one. After Scarlett pulled out the tub and offered her some trail mix, Obie reached out a picked out a nut.
"Dancing?" she repeated softly. Giving Scarlett a quick once over, it made sense. She definitely had a dancer's body. "I would imagine your focus would be dead on. It might not be a good idea to attempt it for a couple of days. I'd hate to have to see you on crutches or something." She fell silent for a moment as she slowly chewed on the nut.
"Where are you from?" she asked, having noticed her accent, but never having asked about it before.

"I do pointe ballet, flamenco, and a little ballroom," Scarlett beamed. "I think I am happiest when I am dancing."
The thought of not dancing for several days killed her, but Scarlett new it was probably the best advice. She certainly couldn't be leaping through the air with a cast and crutches. That would mean she wouldn't be able to dance for much longer if that were to happen.
"I am from Seville, Spain," Scarlett said rolling her Rs and sliding her Ls proudly. "It's in the southern part of the country. My mother owns and opperates a Flamenco Restaurant there. What about you?"

"Wow," Obisidian breathed, thoroughly impressed at her list of dances.
"I'm from Dallas, Texas. In the states," she replied dully. It sounded so ordinary compared to Spain. "Why are you attending school so far from home?" she asked, slowly relaxing the muscles in her shoulders. It felt nice to have another normal conversation again.

"I've never been to the US," Scarlett said, smiling. "But I have a penpal who lives in Alaska. Is that close to Texas?"
For all of Scarlett's love for social studies and culture, she was wrectched at geography and directions. Everyone seemed to get shipped off to Aquila, but she wondered why?Very few students actually entered the school from the loweest grade and worked their way up. Almost everyone was transferred in, giving it the atmosphere that it was a private school for kids who had no where else to go.
"My parents decided it was best for me to find a safer school," Scarlett said, pensively. "after there was an incident at my last one."

"No... no where near Alaska I'm afraid. Texas is is the southern part of the US, down by Mexico," she replied with another warm smile. She listened to the tone in Scarlett's voice as she explained why she was attending Aquila. Maybe she shouldn't have brought it up.
"An incident?" she asked, without stopping to think that it was rude to pry. She blushed furiously and looked down in her lap. "I'm sorry," she apologized quickly.

"It's okay, Obie. I'll just save that sob story for another time," Scarlett said warmly. "Don't apologize. Friends don't have to apologize."
Scarlett looked up at the clouds, feeling the warm breeze on her face. Finally talking with someone felt refreshing for a chance. Taking another handful of trail mix, Scarlett popped them into her mouth in small helpings. Rolling her neck a little, she stretched her arms far above her head and sighed all her negative energy out.
"No where near, Texas, huh," Scarlett said switching back to the other subject. "I was wondering why there was so much snow in her photographs. Have you joined any clubs here at Aquila?"

Smiling sheepishly, Obie turned her blue eyes back up to Scarlett. As she stretched and sighed Obie felt herself relax a little more as well.
"I seemed to have signed myself up for the archery club. I ran into Ceara one day and... the way she spoke of it caught my interest and when I went to go look at the range, Ms. Montecelli happened to be there. I haven't been to any meetings or practices, but I have met the Vice Captain, Ra. He and I have been stuck together for a biology report. I don't think he likes me much though," she said, a bit surprised at the amount she was speaking.
