Dont know what a Kigurumer is?
Kigurumi is the Japanese name for costumed animal characters. The name comes from the Japanese term ( - kiru: to wear) and ( - nuigurumi: a stuffed toy animal). These suited performers are sometimes found at shopping malls, theme parks, and booths at anime conventions. For example, Disneyland costumed characters such as Mickey Mouse would be referred to as Kigurumi by the Japanese. Sometimes these characters are to entertain children, sometimes as promotional tactics to grab attention from adults on busy city streets.
A subdivision of Kigurumi is a form of masked cosplay, called Animegao. Dollers, the performers, wear Kigurumi based on characters from manga or video games for fun at cosplay events, often making their own elaborate suits by hand.

I really really want to get into it, but it's REALLY expencive. It's more expencive then a dollfie at some times. The first time I heard about this was from a book called, Cruising The Anime City; An Otaku Guide To NeoTokyo, an AWESOME book by the way.

A friend of mine gave me this link, said the guy who does the stuff is pretty nice. http://kanakig.accsalon.com/

I just thought there should be a thread for it, I think it's one of the coolest forms of cosplay, and by far the most extream.

hm, that's an interesting idea. I think I saw one at Anime Weekend Atlanta last I went. I don't know if I'll do any of it, but good luck to you if you try some. ^-^

are they just animal images?

i thought it was any fantasy-type character with a fixed-face mask.

i was interested to find that experienced Noh actors could change the expression of their mask simply by altering the angle at which it was displayed.

Oh, Ive seen those around. Best I saw was an Edward Elric. Seems like it would be hard to find a mask for one exact chracter. The Edward had a mask that was spot on for Ed, but it was the only one I ever saw.

I've seen these before. I saw an aw(e)some Dejiko once. I would love to do this form of cosplay if I could afford it. sweatdrop

Kigurumi actually somewhat disturbs me. I find it creepy to see a face that absolutely perfectly matches the face in an anime. It's too surreal for my tastes.

But hey, not saying that it should be banned or anything. All the power to ya.
