Willow Weep for Me is played in either 4/4 or 3/4. Personally I think the 3/4 is bluesier and swings harder. Which do you guys like better? One of my assignments for spring break is to come up with a few songs for my combo to do.
I was thinking we'd combine the 3/4 and 4/4 like some of the recordings I've heard. My idea is to start with the piano doing the entire head at a slow tempo in 4, maybe just the A part. Then we switch to 3/4 and a quicker tempo, me doing the head on tenor. We'll use a blues shuffle-ish thing, I always hear an All Blues type bass line for the 3/4 versions. Maybe during a piano solo, we have the guitar, the alto, and me on tenor doing the actual All Blues horn lick... Oh, and some recordings I've heard have 1 solo in 3/4 one in 4/4. Another it was the A part in 3/4 and the B part in 4/4.
What are your thoughts guys?

Scratch that. It'll just be alto and tenor doing the All Blues shuffle thingey. I forgot that it was So What that had the three horns. Miles was playing the melody on All Blues > <
