I'm the only one in my family who's a Christian. That's part of why I moved out, the influeneces my family were having on me were dragging me down terribly. My brother claims he's a Christian which makes me really mad cuz he doesn't act like it or anything at all. He laughs (!!!) at the Bible! So anyway, my family is going through some serious hard times. My dad's case looks like he'll be going to jail for 30 years, my mom might have something in her system that could cause her to die, and my half-bro's dad is having problems with work. I keep trying to set a good example for them by letting them see the changes in my life since I started taking my Christianity seriously and letting them know that prayer can change your life, but they just scoff. Are the things they're going through a form of discipline or punishment for shutting God out? I really don't know. And I'm really scared for me family. HELP!

God doesn't punish us like that. Life is about going through trials and learning and becoming of stronger faith. It may seem that what is happening is unfair and unjust but it will only make us stronger. Keep trying to teach by your example- sooner or later they will realize that they have to change their sinful ways. But only when they are ready too- other wise it might drive them away. ^^. heart

God does so punish. it's all over the bible that He punishes those who push Him away or disobey. and im wondering if Hes doing that to my family because they refuse to even accept the fact that Im Christian. and if not, is He disciplining them instead?

No No thats not what i meant^^!!! Im saying maybe this is just a trying time rather than a punishment is all. Maybe by going through these things they might bring them closer to him.

hello..
how's life going on nowadays.i guess its not yet too late that i responded on ur post.anyway, being a christian is ur personal relationship to god.it's up to u if you want to keep it.(good thing u r).
uhm..i guess we really need to be patient and 4bear.
they may not be able to understand u ryt now.or may not even understand ur f8.or they dont even dare to do so.just do wat is do-able and let god do the impossible.i ges thats wat we all shud do.live by faith n not by sight.another thing, i think trials are given for us to learn, not to stumble. Don't focus on the problem, instead focus on the solution that God can provide.. 3nodding

*hugs*

I live in a completely nonChristian household, and I go to a college... Makes it pretty dismal for me too sometimes.

Listen, not everything that happens is what God makes happen. Humans make things happen too, for their own actions. Humans have free will to act as they please, and there are always consequences for those actions.

But it might be God. Sometimes God allows hard things in people's lives to get their attentions. I know someone who saw someone die in a car accident, and got saved that night or very soon afterward because it made him *realize* that he could die any second and that he'd better get right then. God may not cause everything, but He can make good come out of everything. Sometimes a person has to hit rock bottom before he or she can be saved.

Listen, and this is something that's a really hard truth, there's nothing you can do to make another person get saved. It's all the Holy Spirit. All you can do is live and be an example to your family. Live your standards, show them the Christian love. Eventually they'll see. Sometimes it takes years and years, but just keep being faithful to God and God's will and people WILL see the difference in you. I've had people tell me that they just knew I had to be a Christian the moment they saw me. I never had to open my mouth. Sometimes all we can do is live it.

*hugs* PM me if you need anything. I'll certainly try to remember to pray for you and your family.

maybe that explains the rise of paganism and such.

You are doing the right thing to try and show them the light of Christ but you can't make up their minds for them, if you did then they wouldn't have free choice. Pray about it. My grandparents don't believe in Christ either but a memeber of my family on earth and in Christ told me that it is not my responsibility to make them believe only God can do that. All you can do is set a good example and plant the seed God will do the rest. So set your troubled heart at ease God is in controle and he has a plane for your family and you. 3nodding heart

If I could let you come live with me and my family I would. But, since I can't, I'll keep on praying for you.
