-Tyven: A Different Kind of Thief-

Name: Tyven
Gender: Female
Animal: Stoat [Mustela erminea]

Hairstyle: Something like this, only a bit longer, and a tad more wild, like have a few of the front bangs be sticking a little more up.
HairColour: Mostly brown, but with several whitish streaks.
Skin color: A warm brown that turns to off-white from below her nose, down her belly. Her paws should also be off-white, along with the undersides of her arms, and inner part of her legs.
Clothing: A hooded vest. 8D Nothing else.
Personality: Although snarky at times, and rather solitary, she's also very, very charming. Using her small, adorable looks to her advantage, and her high-powered grin. The girl is a trickster, like most of her kind, but also a vicious predator. She loves to steal, and is addicted to collected baubles and shiny objects. She seems very friendly, but if she feels slighted, she won't hesitate to strike out, physically.
Markings: A black tipped tail [All Stoats have one], black ears.
Eye color: Purple! :B A light, pale, lavenderish shade.
Eye style: Slanted, and rather almond shaped, half-closed as if drowsy or amused. Feminine.
Pose: Have her hiding random stuff [visably] behind her back, shiny rocks, money, anything that glints, and have her with an extremely adorable, large grin on her face, as if trying to look innocent.
Extra: Don't make her look too anthro. Tyven doesn't have a snout or anything, and all her fur, like a stoat, is shorthaired. Her fingernails and toenails should be black, and slightly clawed.

-About the Stoat-

NOTE: Tyven WILL have a black tip to her tail! ALL Stoats do. In fact, the only type of Stoat/Weasel that DOESN'T have one is the Least Weasel.

Behavior: The stoat is territorial and relatively intolerant of others in its range, especially others of the same sex. Within its range, it typically uses several dens, often taken from prey species. It usually travels alone, except when it is mating or is a mother with older offspring. The ermine was believed to be an amphibious creature which preferred death to the soiling of its fur. Rather than sully their coats, by running through the dirty entranceway, the ermine, exhausted by the chase and unable to escape the hounds, would wait outside their homes for the hunters to kill them. Thus the ermine became associated with phrases such as "Death before Dishonor." Stoats don't like to be out in the open and so tend to hunt along ditches, hedgerows and walls or through meadows and marshes. They search each likely area systematically, often running in a zig-zag pattern.

Breeding: Stoats are solitary animals and only socialise with each other in the breeding season. Mating occurs July to mid-August, but the fertilised eggs within the female do not begin developing until up to 10 months later, so that the female does not give birth until the following spring around April or May. This is called delayed implantation and is the same as the delay with the Pine Marten. It breeds once a year, producing several young per litter, and its mating system is promiscuous.

Litter Size: The litter size of a stoat is generally between 6-12 kits.

Eating: It eats rabbits; rodents such as the mouse, vole and rat; other small mammals; birds and their eggs and young; and sometimes fish, reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. Stoats eat many other types of prey even insects that it was able to survive.

Habits: When it is able to obtain more meat than it can eat it will engage in "surplus killing" and often stores the extra food for later. In most areas it coexists with the Least Weasel, and in this situation competition is reduced by the Least weasel, generally taking smaller prey and the stoat slightly larger prey.

Skills: It is a very skillful tree climber and can descend a trunk headfirst, like a squirrel. The stoat is capable of killing animals much larger than itself. Communication (and also location of prey) occurs largely by scent, since the stoat as typical of mammals has a sensitive olfactory system. As a result much of this communication is missed by human observers. However, stoats are believed to identify females in estrus by scent, and also the sex, health and age of prey. The Stoat is one of the fiercest predators and is active by day and by night, it relentlessly tracks it's prey by scent, and apparently it licks the blood off it's prey's fur leading to the old wives tale that it sucks blood. The victim is killed by pouncing on it and biting deeply into the back of the neck near the base of the skull.

Attributes: Although it inhabits northern latitudes it is built long and thin, leading to an increased surface area-to-volume ratio and increased dissipation of heat from its body. The advantage of this shape is that it is one of the few species able to follow burrowing animals into their own homes. It partly compensates for this shape by having short legs, small ears, a fast metabolism and, in winter, thick fur. The stoat's visual resolution is lower than that of humans and color vision is poor, although night vision is superior. Like most other non-primate mammals they have dichromatic colour vision Tactile information is conferred by the vibrissae, or whiskers.
