I just walked outside and felt the first real spring weather of the year in this part of the U.S.
Spring is my favorite season. Full of hope and second chances.
I believe a person's favorite season can tell you something about that person.

What's your favorite season, and what does it tell about you? How could you react to living somewhere like RD which is always the same.

What, if anything, would you do to make it seem like you still had seasons (at least your favorite)?

It would bother me to live somewhere like RD with no seasonal changes. I live in Michigan, where we have four distinct seasons. I love every one of them in their own way. I would have to arrange something with Holly to make it seem like there were seasons changing around me.

Winter is my favourite, especially when it snows! But, unfortunately for me, the snow here in England is pitiful; well, where I live it is anyway.

I hate summer. There are a number of contributing factors to this.
One - I used to get extremely bad hayfever when I was young (I still get it a bit now) where my eyes would swell up and I would have to wait several hours to be able to see properly.
Two - the bugs. Might sound petty, but I hate them.
Three - the sun (duh). I hate it, it shines it your eyes and you can't see and it makes you get all hot and sweaty. Yucky!

I don't think I would mind living on RD with no seasonal changes.

I'm a late summer/early autumn person, personally. I wonder what that says about me?

Possibly because my birthday is 2nd September? sweatdrop I'm so shallow, lol!

I couldn't live without seasonal change, personally. I need rain, I need sunshine, I need all that nature stuff to keep me going.

I'm kind of a summer winter person. Summer because it is nice an warm. I hate being cold. But, dislike it because of the bug and bright sun. Winter because if its stark contrast when it used to snow. Dislike it bcause of the cold and glare off of the snow. MY EYES! Anyways. I can remember when it used to snow about a foot every year From early November to about Febuary. Now all we get is rain. stare

I'm a winter girl. Because I HATE the sun. I made a list last year of why summer sucks. Heat makes me grouchy. I start yelling at people over nothing, and I can't stand being needlessly mean. Plus I wear alot of black. That means heat makes me hotter than people who don't wear black. There is also more darkness in winter. Darkness is good.

Really now? I always feel much cooler when I wear black. As the color transfers the heat in and out easily.

I am defineltly a summer girl. I also live in Michigan, and we do have four distinct seasons here, as evabh said. Almost winter, winter, still winter, and construction. I wouldn't really mind living without seasons as long as it was nice and warm. smile I hate winter, everything is cold and dark and it makes me cranky. Well, maybe that's just me all the time, I am a pretty cranky person after all. smile

It's an insulator. Which means it traps heat, rather than reflects it. Very basic physics...this is what comes of having a science teacher as a mother. If you want to stay cool in the sun then wear white. It reflects the heat. Its the same with light. Black absorbs the whole spectrum, while white reflects it.
But I hate pale colours. So I always end up melting to death.

I'm not disagreeing with you on what the colors do as it is all basic physics. But, what else they are doing that you seem to be foregetting to mention. You are correct that white does prevent light and heat from passing through the cloth. But, it is also trapping your own body heat against your own body as it is being reflecting it back by the white. While black absorbs the heat from the sun. It also is taking your own body heat away instead of keeping it trapped up against your body. Also the matterial that is absorbing the heat can only take so much before having to release or stop absorbing the stored energy that is being given.

In reallity it will also depend on the weave of the fabric, the thickness of the material, the type of fabric, how much you wear, how loose fitting your clothes are as well as the level of humidity (it is the humidity that kills you not the heat; very humid can make you feel hotter then you really are). I'm sure someone into thermal dynamics could tell us more. But, that is more then I or anyone else would care to care to hear about.
