Everyone says I'm negative and complain too much. Sometimes I just say things that don't sound negative to me, I just tell it like it is but I do seem to always find something to stress out about. Apparently, I'm so used to not being peppy, I've made being negative appart of the way I think. I would like to think I'm just being realistic, but If everyone, including my Dad, says I complain too much, isn't it true? But like I said, I can't help it. Good things always happen to optimistic people so of course their first thought when I say something pessimistic is that I should just get over it because it's easy for them to think that way. Good things don't happen to me, that's why I'm negative. My view of life is that there is always a chance that something bad can happen and you should prepare for that. "They" say optimistic people live longer So I must be wrong. How do I change the way I think so I can stop complaining and getting on everyone's nerves all the time?

I find it helps to have a journal and to just put all my negative thoughts/complaints into that. It's like a good stress ball. It's hard to break habits like that, but believe me, good things do happen to you and I don't even know you. Be happy you're not a child soldier or working in a sweat shop, it can always be worse (which is an optomistic way of looking at things) Everyone needs those days where life just sucks, you just have to be careful that not everyday turns into those days.
