Character Name: Guyy Myurr, a.k.a. Lord Oroborus, a.k.a. Uncle Roobus, a.k.a. Oro
Age: 26 (no longer ages thanks to Gaia)
Race: Human/Snake Spirit
Sex: Male
Appearance:You wouldn't notice Guyy in a crowd easily. This is just how he likes it. He could be considered handsome by some but he is no male model. His eyes occasionally draw a little attention. They are a deep and shining crimson and occasionally a deep onxy with no signs of white. He also has a habit of forgetting to blink. He doesn't really need to usually, as he has transparent inner eyelids covering his sensitive eyes at all times. Blinking is simply a habit he picked up in order to blend in more effectively. His hair, though a deep blue-black, is otherwise just like anyone else's even if it's a little scruffy.
Around his arm winds what at first appears to be a black tattoo of a snake. The head of the snake holds two striking ruby eyes and rests on his wrist. The rest of the snake winds in a spiral up his arm, the tail wrapping over his shoulder to trail to the middle of his chest, almost touching the unusual trident-like tattoo that can be found there. Members of the Shinigami may have seen this very symbol adorning certain places in the Library itself. As he moves his arm it becomes apparent that the snake is not entirely black as it seems, instead shimmering iridescently. The tattoo reportedly moves about as it wishes also. Two tiny scars, one on either collar bone, are the only remaining marks from his childhood, though the observant will notice long scars on the inside of his arms. The knowledgeable would recognise them as faded track marks, tell tale signs of a less than reputable adolescence. He never speaks of them and may even recoil should someone remind or ask him about them.
His smile is warm and friendly. He'll grin broadly at people regardless of how well he knows them. Often he's sizing them up as he does so. His teeth shine white as though he takes extra care of them compared to most people. This is because he does. They are his favourite weapon and if he opens his mouth wide, wider than seems comfortable to most, the reason for his excellent maintenance of them becomes quite clear. As his jaws part a series of tendons in the roof of his mouth pull and contract causing two inch-long fangs to snap into place where his canines should be. It doesn't take most people long to work out that what they thought at first were ordinary teeth were nothing more than the rounded back of these fangs as they lay flat against the contoured roof of his mouth. These vicious looking teeth are hollow but strong. They connect to venom sacs that sit buried beneath his sinuses. His venom is powerful, able to cause anything from severe burning pain to death depending on how much of it he uses. His sacs don't hold more than a couple of doses at any one time unfortunately, but they replenish fairly swiftly. He can break down and convert any chemical, bacteria, virus or even small foreign bodies that enter his bloodstream into compounds for his deadly venom swiftly by a unique biological process that was programmed into the genetics of the snake he recieved his own genes from. This process makes him invulnerable to infection, disease, poisoning or contamination of even the supernatural kind. This includes the bites of vampires, werewolves and zombies. The process of breaking down chemicals usually allows him to recognise certain compounds and gives him a sense of well-being and energy, similar to that of a burst of warm sun.
His style of clothing is very simple and casual, but affords him a good range of movement. He can usually be seen wearing a simple shirt and battered old jeans that almost look as old as they actually are. He rarely takes his shirt off in public as his musculature in noticibly unlike an ordinary human's. Muscles seem to connect in the wrong places, allowing for greater flexibility. He seems to have more vertebrae as well, enhancing his long, slender appearance. Most parts of him seem to be stretched out, with long arms and legs, long stretching fingers and an unusually long, pointed tongue. He is, however, only barely6ft in height.
His footwear is just as battered as his shirt and jeans but comfortable and have good grip should he find himself having to climb or run quickly. For such old, worn shoes they are surprisingly sturdy. He dresses like those around him because he loves to hide in plain sight, delighting in the knowledge that nobody around him suspects a thing. He usually carries a small bottle of his own venom and a simple stiletto knife, just in case. His knife, unfortunately, has been destroyed and lost in a fight with a demoness that ended the life of one of his most loyal clan members, though just briefly. He has since replaced it with an old and valuable rapier, though this only accompanies him on special missions.
He always wears a single ring, one of woven platinum and diamond that is as strong as a solid band and seems to glow from within sometimes. Its design is clearly too intricate for any average human jeweler to have fashioned it and true enough it was a gift from Gaia herself. Yet it seems too small for even his slender fingers and will fit only on the smallest finger of his left hand. What purpose this gift has is yet unclear, though no doubt it shall reveal itself in time.
He bears two new scars, evidently a pair of puncture wounds a short distance apart, on his neck. They appear to be from the bite of some carnivorous beast but in truth the cause of these wounds is much closer to home and considerably more human. He makes no effort to hide or explain these scars, unless asked at which point he will smirk and speak of his beloved Lady Shinigami.
Personality: Although he appears like a perfectly nice man on the outside, nothing could be further from the truth. He is always there with a smile and a helping hand for anyone who needs it and as such is well liked and respected by those who meet him even casually. That is, until he doesn't need them anymore. People are toys to him and he enjoys playing with them both physically and emotionally. He enjoys comforting and seducing others simply for the pleasure of breaking them later.
There are a few exceptions to his thirst for anguish. He is fiercely loyal to those he considers family; The Shinigami Clan. He will give his own life in order to protect any one of them. Woe betide those who threaten someone he loves. Little excites him more than a trickle of blood or a clear, perfect tear especially if he know that person deserves to suffer for harming one of his precious family. Some might think of his games as crazy, but his mind is sharp and clear.
His favourite targets were once young females who were often naive, some viewing him as a potential lover. He adored building them up until they fawned over him and then tearing them down painfully. This particular taste never prevented him from treating all strangers as potential toys however. He always gives every target his full attention.
Lately however these games of his have come to an abrupt end. The Snakeman young girls used to whisper about in tones of some ghost or evil being waiting around every corner to whisk them away seems to have vanished without warning from Gaia. He has no desire to shatter this mystery by telling them that he has merely found something better than tormenting virginal girls. He has fallen in love, an emotion he had stopped believing in. All of the energy he would have once put into his wicked games are now devoted to the Lady Shinigami, an equally legendary murderess.
History: Created in a lab, under the name of Project Oroborus, Guyy's first three years were spent entirely contained in a liquid-filled tube, all of his needs provided through two small tubes fed in either side of his neck, leaving the two scars he still has today. His existence was merely a test to help the scientists involved create a race of superbeasts to be controlled and used for battle. His DNA was combined with that of a previously engineered serpent merely to see if a viable lifeform could be created. He was only saved the resulting insanity of two souls in one body by the intervention of Gaia itself, who took an interest in the child. Gaia's reason for saving him has never been revealed, though Guyy is sure it shall be when the time is right.
He was due to be removed from the tube and placed into a sort of nursery so that his development could be monitored when the violent and insane results of the following Chimera Project escaped and slaughtered all the humans they could find. They shattered his tube, but left him unharmed before vanishing into the woods. For some reason the Chimera who discovered him never harmed him, a fact that has left him confused until only recently when all came to light and the facts of that night were revealed to him.
A single scientist was left alive, having been away from the area at the time on an errand. She returned to the carnage, including the mangled corpse of her father who was the head scientist of the project. Guyy was still among the broken glass and blood, unable to walk. Melissa, who Guyy later learned had been his biological mother as well as the mother of the Chimera themselves, rescued him and they made their home in a simple town far away. They lived a happy and quiet life, his mother earning a comfortable wage as a tutor to local children and himself. It was near his 11th birthday when the Chimera named Zeta returned, having been on a personal and secret quest to hunt down those who had created them, blaming them for the death of his mate and his own resulting madness. He had been sent to reclaim both Guyy and his mother and bring them back to the Chimera village as family members, but Zeta went against his orders and was out for revenge. Once more Guyy was a witness to the fearsome power of the beasts as Zeta slaughtered his mother and attempted to kill him. Zeta, however, lost an eye to his mother's protective instincts before she was killed.
He escaped with his life once more, though this time more by luck and the bravery of his self-sacrificing mother than by the mercy of the Chimera. He made his home on the streets of Durem among the other homeless orphans. In time he learned the tricks of the streets, becoming a skilled thief. As he grew his unusual talents became more apparent and he was recruited by the Boss, the head of a huge criminal organisation, for his unique assassination skills. His venom became his most valuable asset, keeping him alive and fed. His mind however was twisted and he entertained himself with the seduction and following brutal murder of any person to take his fancy. He became a creature of legend among many of the young girls of Gaia, a threatening presence that might take and kill them at any moment. Many skeptics who dismissed the tales merely as an attempt to frighten them into staying home late at night met their end at the hands of the legendary Snakeman.
It was while in the recruitment of the Boss, living in rooms granted to him by the organisation, that he became fast friends with Jack, a youth just two years younger than himself. They grew up together, making it through the harsh world and their teenaged years relying on one another. Jack was like a brother to Guyy and the only person he truly became close to since his mother's death. And yet the Boss' influence and hold on him grew as the crime boss realised that while Guyy was a valuable assassin he was also incredibly dangerous and liable to turn on him at a moment's notice. The Boss soon discovered Guyy's love for toxins and chemicals and used it to his advantage, providing him with his precious addictions in return for his loyalty.
It did not take long for Guyy to become entirely dependant on the Boss and his steady supply of drugs, some common and some experimental. The chemicals would not kill Guyy, so he became the perfect guinea pig for the Boss' drug researchers, the scars on his arms being created in the process. Yet the effects were clear, especially when the Boss chose to withhold supplies. It was during one of these deep and dangerous madnesses that Jack learned the true extent of Guyy's addictions and helped him break free, assisting him in recovery until he was well enough to leave the Boss and make his own way in the world.
It was during this exile from humanity that he was approached by a strange youth and offered a position in the fabled Shinigami Clan as an assassin. He jumped at the opportunity and found himself housed in the Shinigami Castle many miles north. There he met Kaori, a beautiful tigress who stole his heart as easily as he stole the possessions of others, though it would take him a long time to release the true extent of his feelings for her. He met many other clan members, some who stayed, some who made their own way in the world when the Clan leader vanished and the castle crumbled.
Guyy was left with a small following of loyal Shinigami members and the Library he has been given in Durem. He began to rebuild in a slow and sometimes painful process. His life work was now that of the clan, his family. Along the way Gaia initiated a change in him, forcing his skin to shed so that he could stretch the powers Gaia had surpressed in him. Myurr was released from where he had been locked in Guyy's mind. The shadowy snake was granted his own form, that of a tattoo on Guyy's arm that was able to move and think on its own. The snake became his strongest weapon and soul partner. The only witness to this change was Kaori, having followed him to the labs he was birthed in.
Kaori however was stolen away from him by the powers that be, and he slipped into a quiet depression. He had become softened by her presence, his murderous ways a thing of the past and he was unsure what to do without her. He was helped through it by the assistance of the remaining senior clan member, Aya, who had just recovered from her own apparent death and change herself.
It was only recently that Guyy was called to the scene of murder by a reterned and changed Kaori and he found the devestation that was a result of the Chimera attacking a village. He soon learned that Zeta had acted alone in the death of his mother. He had never recovered from the madness their creation had caused due to the death of his mate - his other as Zeta referred to Mu - as the other Chimera had. He discovered that they had achieved a simple tribal civilisation in a small village far to the north. Many had raised families, a child of which had been stolen by the greedy research scientists of the lab they attacked. In an attempt to recover the child, Guyy was killed. He was denied entry to both Heaven and Hell, leaving him drifting in Gaia's neutral territory. However, Myurr was kept alive by the cold resisting potion gifted to him by Aya. Using this link to the world Gaia showed him how to return to his body.
He returned more powerful, able to sense and command the shadows themselves. However the price for this power was blindness, forced on him by Gaia to make him learn his underused natural skills. His eyes changed from bright crimson to solid black, the only outward sign of his change, but one he did not realise. He attempted to hide his blindness from others, viewing it as a weakness others may try to take advantage of but his precious Clan knew him too well and he found himself supported as he learned to make sense of everything. It was a couple of months before Gaia felt he had learned enough to have his regular eyesight restored, though he still suffers blindness when he harnesses the shadows.
During this time his beloved Kaori as well as Aya and her daughter vanished from his library with barely a word. Withough Kaori to love he lost tha ability to feel and became numb, just as he was in his teen years. Without Aya he had no one to guide him morally, to coax him to take care of himself or show him the right path to take. His mind twisted as he struggled to deal with the trauma of their loss, so familiar to him. He had lost his mother, his leader, his lover and so many of his friends.
While he returned to his seductive and homicidal ways he always did his best to keep his nightly activities separate from his Clan and library, though he was not sure whether he was trying to protect them from himself, or himself from them. He also constructed a child-like android though he never realised how closely it looked like his beloved Lady Shinigami. It was during this time that the Boss returned into his life and requested an assassination.
Jack's life now had a price on it and Guyy snapped up the job, not to kill his oldest friend but to save him. The last scrap of morality Guyy possessed focussed on getting to Jack and warning him, so he took the clan to Dragon's Den, Jack's club. He certainly did not expect to find Kaori waiting for him.
The very same flaw in design that caused the Chimera to burst into an unconrtollable rage and madness was suddenly activated in his mind and he knew nothing but pain and anger. Kaori was the source of this agony, so he sought to destroy her. And yet it was his love for her that stayed his hand at the final moment. As she dropped from his hands he too fell to the floor, knocked aside by Raven. He discovered Kaori's journal as Raven raced to save Kaori, it containing a letter addressed to him that confessed her love and begged him to decide whether she should live or die in her new, mortal state.
He asked her to live, realising now that the madness had fled him, that he could not live without her. The guilt of his actions consumed him and he found himself weakened, unable to do anything but watch as the ambulance took her away. Jack drove him to the hospital and he stole the Lady away, bringing her back to the Library and safety. He will never forgive himself for nearly ending her life.
Additional Information: Guyy's powers are that of a snake. He has long, piercing fangs that can administer an exceptionally powerful venom into the flesh of his victim. Depending on how much venom he injects he could cause burning pain, searing agony, paralysis or even death. He can also use his long, pointed tongue to spit the same venom and cause burns or blindness. His accuracy using this method is almost faultless.
His most underused power is the curious ability to exude a sort of calming, trustful sensation, almost like a very mild hypnotism. The power of suggestion. He would use it as a teen to approach young women and draw them into trusting him quicker than they normally would have. He has also used it once to assist Kaori in feeding from a laboratory assistant unnoticed, soothing the poor girl with gentle whispers and crooning in her ear until she relaxed. He tries to avoid using it as much as possible as there are many it simply will not work on. He can sometimes use it to convince others to do something they would not normally do, but that rarely works on anyone unless they are already under some form of stress or are very suggestible.
Myurr, the shadow snake he shares a soul with, can also be used by Guyy as a weapon. The extent of these skills have yet to be fully tested in battle. He can however absorb the shadows in an area and grow to a massive size, combining with Guyy to become a giant black serpent. Guyy can also see flashes of whatever Myurr sees when they connect mentally, so he is able to send him into places he cannot go himself to spy. Though he has never tested it, Guyy and Myurr are able to swap bodies for a limited amount of time thanks to the combined soul they share. Thanks to this unique bond he has learned from Gaia that so long as one of them survives, the other can use them as a guide to return from death. It is possible to kill both at once however, so he is not entirely impossible to kill. Myurr, though, is notoriously difficult to kill or even wound due to his unique form. If Guyy took too long to return from the realms of the dead it is possible Myurr would finally starve to death, as he relies on Guyy much like a parasite would. This starvation could take days or even weeks so it is not a reliable way to kill him.
He can command and shape shadows into more solid forms, useful for anything from making quick binds to hold down enemies to creating simple cloaks and shrouds to shield himself and others. He has yet to test the potential of such an ability to its fullest. He can also sense the shadows, in a manner similar to his heat sensing capabilities. When he controls the shadows his red eyes cloud over and become entirely black once more, though this blackness fades once he releases his control.
Being partly reptile has its drawbacks however. Guyy is dependent on warmth and the sun to survive. The colder he becomes the slower he becomes. If his temperature drops too low for too long he can go into a forced hibernation, leaving him effectively in a coma until he warms up. If it gets too much colder than that it could easily cause his death. he can manage cold up to a certain extent if he introduces himself to it gradually, though a sudden temperature change could be fatal. He also needs a certain amount of calcium so he can frequently be found in the kitchen enjoying a glass of milk, though he prefers coffee.
He enjoys his luxuries, surrounding himself with comfort and trinkets collected from various places. His DVD collection is continuously growing and his room reflects this, DVDs are scattered around and his viewscreen is setup for ideal movie watching conditions. He watches his movies from the comfort of his warm sheets and rolling waterbed.
He is a favourite uncle of the Chimera cubs, who address him as Uncle Roobus due to Wavedancer initally having difficulty pronouncing Oroborus, his official name. He is still a little unsure of how to deal with them but he enjoys their company greatly and is thankful for Kaori's patient and caring nature with them. He is slowly learning from her natural maternal streak. Oddly enough Ilia has taken to calling him Daddy, which he finds uncomfortable especially given her close appearance to that of his beloved.
Recently he has come to realise just how vital Kaori is to him and has gifted her a ring signifying his commitment to her. To his delight she accepted his proposal. Not only does this ring show his love for her, but unknown to them both is has bound them in soul thanks to Mother Gaia. Should one be afraid or hurt, the other will feel a mysterious compulsion to be with them. The strength of the compulsion mirrors the seriousness of their need. For example, should Guyy fall and bruise his knee Kaori may inexplicably think of him and resolve to check on him when she has a moment, or call him. Or if Kaori is in immediate and mortal danger or suffering Guyy will drop what he is doing, unable to resist the strong urge to be with her, that instinct that something is not wrong.
Curiously, he has notice a strange heat within her lately.
