First I just want to say that I am not pregnant. One of my male friends got a girl pregnant and has a guestion that he was too embarrased to ask anyone else. He is choosing to be a part of the child and mother's lives. However she doesn't know too much about it either and they have yet to tell their parents. So anyway, he wants to know what comes first, contractions or the water breaking? Could it be either? Iwasn't sure so I told him I would post this and find out. Thanks for helping! heart

Hmm.. from the movies I've seen, I'd say the water breaking comes first, but don't go by me, please. XD;;; I'd suggest they go out and find some books on the subject, and also maybe some books on what they should do when they actually have the baby. :3 It's always good to read up on stuff like that.

It's not a definite thing. Actually, not every woman goes by that. It's actually not that common for sudden rupture of the membranes (water) and then leading to birth. Some women get contractions before hand. I didn't realize I was even HAVING contractions till my water broke. So, it could go both ways.
But the big thing is not that small detail, they need to tell the parents, get her to a doctor where the OB can give further more detailed information and even details on childbirth and childrearing classes.
