Ima uber pissed off at my school about Silence Day! They said that anyone who participates in it will have a one day to one week Out of School Suspention, since they say were disrupting our classes by not talking. Also anyone who wears anything about 'Pride' or anything that has to do with being gay will get Thursday and Saturday detentions. I dont think this is fair, do you?

If it is a public school and they take away your right to show pride, they can be sued/shut down. If it's a private scool... the gay mafia should be hired to take care of them...

I went to an all boys catholic school growing up and there was pretty much no need for "gay pride" with people that were gay.... everyone kinda had the mindset of "It'll probably happen without girls.... who cares". Alot of people say that that's not catholic or not christian.... but they're usually the ones who think being catholic means you're an evangelist. stare

The Christian political and legal foundation the Alliance Defense Fund has organized an annual counter-protest which they call "Day of Truth" which takes place on the day following the Day Of Silence and whose stated purpose is "to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda". On this day, small groups of anti-gay students are organized to express their opinion and distribute Christian literature. As part of the effort, students who are prevented or discouraged from expressing their anti-gay beliefs are encouraged to call for legal support from the ADF on first amendment grounds. The protest is currently in its second year. The ADF reports that 1,100 students at aproximately 350 schools participated in 2005.

Yep.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Not because they want to state their opinion, no that's fine.

But the fact that they 1. Call it the day of "truth". What the ********. Srsly. The truth IS that homosexuality is around you 24-7, even if you don't realize it, and you better f'ing suck it up if you wanna go anywhere. And 2. because the whole "legal support" when those same damn people "celebrating the day of truth" are the same damn people who are bashing homosexuality on the Day of Silence and expect those participating to just take it.

And plus, since when is anything that's "anti-something" something to be approved of? People who participate on Day of Silence aren't anti-heterosexual.

not talking i can understand, that might disrupt the class. but you have freedom of speach and should be able to show your opinon

That is stupid. All the teachers at my school practically beg for students to shut up. I bet they'd welcome silence day. As for the gay pride, you can wear the rainbow colors and rainbows but I haven't seen anyone wearing any gay pride shirts or anything.

It's really unfair.
I know at my school, they make a big thing about Silence day, and they make t-shirts, well the GSA makes the t-shirts and cards about Silence day.
