NOTES:

The Storm Prediction Center says that there is a SLIGHT RISK of severe thunderstorms on
Thursday and Thursday night over extreme southern Minnesota, northeastern Iowa, all of Illinois, and far southwestern Wisconsin (south of a Prairie du Chien to Monroe line). Another significant severe weather outbreak is possible in the central and southern Midwest from Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Low pressure in the central Plains will move from southern South Dakota on Thursday morning to southern Iowa by Friday morning. A stationary front will extend from the low east-southeastward to central Illinois, and a cold front will sweep eastward south of the low reaching western Illinois by early Friday morning. Warm and humid air south of the stationary front and east of the cold front will provide the fuel for severe thunderstorms from Thursday afternoon into Thursday night. Tornadoes (some of which may be strong and long-lasting), large hail, and damaging winds are possible in this area. North of the stationary front in the cooler air across far northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, a few severe thunderstorms are possible with hail and possibly high winds as the main threats. Heavy rain is also possible in this area, along with localized flooding. Portions of the severe weather threat area (especially from southern Iowa into central and southern Illinois) may require upgrades in the expected threat as future forecasts delineate the area most at risk.
