Roobarb "Doctor, you're not going in there alone," Rose said, taking his hand, "Besides, Harriet's got half an army with her! Seems kinda silly to leave them behind..." "I agree, Doc, we've got to stick together! If we separate, we're just asking to be picked off one-by-o--- oh my god, what the #$!@ is that?!" Nate pointed towards the sky. In the eye of the massive spiral of dark clouds above their heads a pair of gigantic hands emerged, as if some creature where pulling itself out of a hole in the stratosphere. Out of earshot to everyone but Major Blake, Harriet Jones asked solemnly, "Is Torchwood ready?"

"Fine, come with me, but STAY BEHIND me!" He moved purposfully forward.
Eventually, he came out into a hallowed out area the size of a small city. To one side, cages with human hands reaching out for freedom could be seen but the Doctor just strode down into the center, where two black obelisks stood and the Cardinal stood gesticulating. He turned when he heard the Doctor coming.

"Rose, Rose, it's me, your mother! Help me!" the voice of Jackie Tyler cried out pitifully from one of the cages.
Nate halted, torn between helping the Doctor in his confrontation with the mysterious Cardinal and finding a way to free the captives. Staring at the gun in his hand, he realized that the Cardinal was the immediate threat, and one that needed to be taken care of swiftly. "Sorry Mrs. Tyler..." he muttered to himself, racing forward to catch up with the Doctor.

Hairy Priest "Rose, Rose, it's me, your mother! Help me!" the voice of Jackie Tyler cried out pitifully from one of the cages. Nate halted, torn between helping the Doctor in his confrontation with the mysterious Cardinal and finding a way to free the captives. Staring at the gun in his hand, he realized that the Cardinal was the immediate threat, and one that needed to be taken care of swiftly. The robed man turned slowly to face the Doctor. "Hello....Timelord." The Doctor stopped in his tracks. "How do you know what I am?" "Cthulu told me....and soon, he will tell you all YOU wish to know." "I don't want to know anything from that monster!" The Cardinal laughed. "You call Cthulu a monster? Why not tell your 'friends' and the 'innocents' you have to rescue just what kind of person YOU are!! Or should I tell them how you and your kind waged a war that caused millions of planets and spieces to burn....all because they were caught in the crossfire." The Doctor looked like he had been suckerpunched. His face lost all emotion. The Cardinal laughed. "The lifes I have balanced on the edge here need not die. All I wish is for the Madien who touched Time Itself to enter the gateway and finish the conduit."
