-Homecoming-

"Hey kids, I'm home!"

Anvion stepped into the entrance hall of the house, half-full basket swinging merrily beneath one elbow, her other hand sterring Orin inside. She was half-worried he might get nervous and retreat to what he'd consider a safe hiding spot, but fortunately that was not the case. The canine had perked up considerably, and from the corner of her eye she could see him looking about in a pleased sense of curiosity. That was... good.

Not to her surprise, she didn't hear the usual chorus of voices that often greeted her when she arrived back home. The kids were probably playing out back, then. She didn't blame them. It was a nice day out, after all.

She glanced over her shoulder and smiled at Orin, letting go of his arm. "The kids are out playing," she explained. "So I'll introduce them to ya after I show you around, mmkay?"

"Can I play too?" Orin asked, ears perking up eagerly at the word 'play'.

"Sure. But first I'll show you around and let you pick a room for you to stay in. Fair?"

Orin's face twisted into a small frown, then nodded. "Fair."

"All right then. That door there leads to the basement. Letinas the vampire lives there. Best not disturb him. And this here leads to the kitchen..."

---

Twenty minutes later, and Anvion was upstairs clearing out Orin's chosen room for him to live in, all the while glancing every now and then out the window to watch how Orin was doing. As she had expected, all the kids were playing out back, Orin now happily settled in amongst their ranks. They were quick to accept him and eager to invite him into their games, as usual.

As she watched, Flitch tossed a ball as far as he could into the yard, whilst Orin and her other canine boy, Mikael, raced after it. It seemed to be a competition to see who could get the ball first and bring it back to Flitch. Cute, and a little amusing to watch.

Orin won this round, and he eagerly raced back to hand Flitch the ball back for another toss. He seemed to be in high spirits, a fact that caused a smile to spread across Anvion's face as she turned away from the window to finish moving the last of the boxes out and to get clean sheets for Orin's bed. Then she'd go out to play with them for a while. It wasn't like there was a list of chores to do today. Besides, a little bit of rough and tumble sounded quite fun.

-Gardening (pt 1)-

"Mikaaa? What'cha doin'?"

"Digging."

"Digging a hole?"

"To plant."

"Huh?"

"Planting seeds. I do believe now would be a fine time to plant... hm. Beans or tomatos? What do you think?"

"Uh..." Orin frowned, screwing up his face in thought. "Tomatoes?"

Mikael, the other canine hybrid and only other being present at the time, nodded and reached over to dantily pick up a small packet of tomato seeds lying in his gardening basket. He was out gardening, like he always was, and happily reseeding a recently-cleared out bit of his vegetable patch. Watching Mika garden wasn't exactly what Orin had planned (or wanted) to do, but seeing how everyone else was either busy or not here. He had been spending the last few hours running and digging about in the backyard, though the thrill of it had quickly worn off. It just wasn't as fun playing by yourself. So now here he was, squatting next to Mikael and watching the older boy dig up holes for vegetables.

Only problem was- watching Mikael garden was proving to be almost as boring as the rest of today was turning out to be. And the fact that Mika was half-crazy did nothing to make things more interested. He was like... boring crazy.

Unless you violated his vegetable patch. Orin had the mistake of digging about last week. Anvion had joked that he was lucky she had managed to restrain Mikael before he murdered Orin. So now Orin knew NOT to touch the garden.

Augh, but he was so bored!

"Mika?" he asked, hoping to lure the boy to play. At first Mikael ignored him, being that he was completely and utterly absorbed in carefully planting the tomato seeds and properly covering them with soil.

Orin sighed in irritation, this time poking Mikael's shoulder. "Mika?"

"Hm?" the boy asked, peering over the edges of his spectacles to frown curiously at Orin.

"Wanna do something?"

"Such as?"

"Play?"

"Play what?"

Orin sighed and shrugged. "I dunno. Something. Anything."

Mikael sighed, fiddling with his dirt-smudged glasses as he thought. "Hm. How about...? No. I don't think you'd enjoy it much."

Curious, Orin's ears perked up. "What? Come on, telling won't hurt."

"Well... We could head over to the park and go exploring in the pond. We'll get terribly wet, though there's bound to be some interesting things there. Like bugs and plants."

"That sounds fun!" Orin chirped, hopping to his feet. "C'mon! Let's go."

Mikael nodded in assent, rising and brushing the dirt off of him as best he could. "All right. Shall we?"

"Race ya there!"

-Gardening (pt 2)-

... in progress. I honestly have no time whatsoever, but this has been top priority amongst Gaia things...
