I can't remember in what thread we mentioned donating hair. But today I cut 11.5" off my hair to donate to Locks of Love (www.locksoflove.org)
My hair is still a good length, maybe 5 or 6 inches past my shoulders, and Jason says it still looks great! (he's a huge fan of long hair, so was a little worried I was cutting so much.)
If anyone has long hair they can spare, the rules are to cut at least 10 inches, tied up in either a ponytail or braid, put in ziplock bag, then in padded envelope, print and fill out the form on their site, and send it in!

Then for a while I left it longer because my reunion was coming up. That was last June, almost a year ago. So I forgot about cutting my hair for a long time. I figured, eh, I'll cut it before I go to the beach this June, but now it was starting to get more split ends than I like, so I couldn't wait that long.

I would do it too if I had enough hair. When I went short a few months ago, I really considered this but it just wasn't quite long enough and I couldn't take it anymore. It's too hot in the summer and I have really thick hair.

At the place I work at one of the drivers would do this. His hair grew very fast. I was shocked one day when he came in and had very short hair, that was when he told me he donated it. Very generous of you to do that fawN. mrgreen

it is a lovely thing to do, not something i could do myself as my hair is so thin and i look like a man if it's cut short redface
but i greatly admire anyone else who does it heart

Back about 5 years ago I wound up cuttng my butt-length hair to just above my shoulders. Unfortunately, I didn't know or had fogotten about Locks of Love, so coulnd't donate it. I found out about it shortly after and was upset. But I couldn't grow my hair that long again--way too much trouble!

Thanks for the info fawN 3nodding Toni has been toying with cutting hers, I don't think 10 inches will matter too much to her with as much as she has sweatdrop
