Recommend books here.
I highly recommend House of Leaves, by Mark Danielewski. I think I posted about it in another thread. It's about this house that's bigger on the inside than it is on the outside, and there's this big freaky hallway that the owner goes and explores, but he doesn't go in far because his wife told him she'd leave him if he did... Also, he heard some kind of roar while he was in there. It could have been the walls changing (that's right, they change!) or something else..... So he calls these exploreres to go and excavate the hallway. They find a giant spiral staircase in the middle, and as far as they can tell it's neverending because they throw a flare down and don't hear it hit the floor, or see it again. That's all I'm telling you for now, now GO OUT AND READ IT I COMMAND YOU. Heh. It's really that good. I'm not done it yet, but I will be pretty soon. Freaky s**t.
Also, Black Dahlia Avenger. I don't remember the author, but it tells about this murder in the 50's of this actress. It was an extremely brutal murder. She was cut in half, one of her breasts were cut off, they sliced her mouth into an eery grin, and they filled her v****a with grass and other parts of her flesh. The weirdest thing was that they dumped her into a ditch, but they posed her body parts. You later find out that they were posed like this painting this sadistic painter painted. As the mystery unfolds, the author finds out who the murderer was. About 40 years later.

I am currently reading 'The Serial Killer Files' by Harold Schaffer. I only recommend it to people who can stomach grisly, graphic descriptions of horrendous murders. It is very interesting, not only talking about the cases themselves, but, things that serial killers have inspired, from psycho-tourism, artwork, music, and more. Killers that are featured include Albert Fish(The 'Moon Maniac') John Wayne Gacy(The 'Killer Clown') Jeffrey Dahmer(The 'Milwuakee Cannibal') Edward Gein, The Hillside Stranglers, The 'Moor Murderers' H.H. Holmes, Ted Bundy, Charles Manson, Richard Ramieriz('Nightstalker'), Mary Bell, Carl Panzaram, Jack the Ripper and more(Sorry, I listed everyone I could remember x3). This book covers everything from the cases, the psychology, the depraved minds of the murderers, and everything else. It also has some looks it paraphilas...which many murderers indulge in. And, some interesting(if somewhat graphic) Illustartions and woodcuts. It even features some artwork by Joe Coleman. Although I haven't finished the book, I really enjoyed it.

[Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez] Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer were especially interesting cases. That, and Jack the Ripper. Indeed. I think John Wayne Gacy was interesting, particurally because, he 'seemed' like such a normal guy, a pillar in his community...Untill they found 30 decomposed bodies of teenage boys in his crawlspace.

I don't read many books. Mostly manga, cause my imagination runs a little too wild, and I can't imagine characters with out a picture xDDD But I recomend The Demon Ororon For all you people who enjoy blood and guts this is for you. xDD Very very nice story line though. Kinda makes you think. Theres four books in the whole series so its not a whole bunch of money to spend. But I promise you will enjoy them. 3nodding heart

I really like this one book I checked out at the library out of curiosity. It is called 'Poisons' xD My mom thought I was 'planning' something... ninja
EDIT: ...Maybe it was because I took 10 pages of notes on the chemistry of poisons, which plants produce them, and how to make them... <3 Joy.

Here are some of my recommendations for books to read. I've read or I'm in the process of finishing all of them. They're all great in their own way. I list by category so you know what you'll be getting into.
Science-Fiction: The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury, Fahernehiet 451 by Ray Bradbury ( a great book that analyzes the growth of censorship, america's love for tv and medication, and other political and social issues.), and FitzPatrick's War by Theodore Judson.
Russian Literatute: The Brother's Karamazov by Feodor Dostoevsky, Crime and Punishment by Feodor Doestoevsky, the Communist Manifesto by Carl Marx.
Fantasy: I know everyone reads them, but the Lord of the Rings trilogy, great books. I'm more into Sci-fi than fanstasy so this area's a little limited
Novelas ( They're really short novels) Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad, great evaluation of the human pysche and a delve into madness, its the book that Apocapyse Now is based on. The only real difference between the two is the time frame, setting, and some of the characters
Religious: Blue Like Jazz by Donald Miller. I'm a Christian ( WTF!!! Christian who likes System of a Down!!!that's right, I don't think God really cares what music I listen to.) yet I have a lot of issues with organized religion, this book takes a non-relgious approach to analyzing various aspects of Christian Spirutality
Manga: I lova da Manga, it makka me happy. Fully Cooly, the manga is better than the show. Hellsing, a great manga so far, its not done yet. Akira, the movie was based on a 12 volume manga series with each volume being as thick as a standard novel, check it out, its awesome.
Poetry: Being a SOAD fan I gotta recommend Cool Gardens by my main man Serj Tankian, its some amazing stuff.
Political Books: The Creature of Jekly Island, can't remember the author, its a cool book that analyzes the IRS and the truth about the income tax.
Funny Comic Books: I'm not into regular comic books that much, I like humerous comics better. I strongly recommend Johhny the Homicidal Manic, Squee, and Happy Noodle Boy( a comic with JTHM), Vasquez's comics are hilarious and contain some interesting political, moral, and social undertones.
Well that's all I can think of now, I've read more than the books listed but those are the cream of the crop in my opinion, Hope it was helpfull and hope you find something you'll enjoy.

I haven't read english books in a while. The last ones I read were sci-fi classics I barrowed from a friend. There's 1984 by George Orwell, a story based on a totalitarian goverment that will not go out date any time soon. From this book came the ever so famous phrase : " Big Brother is watching you". After that I read the four volumes to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Very off the top and humourous and not as dense as 1984. From this book comes now known words and expressions like "Paranoid Android", "Google" and "Babbel Fish". The books are different from the movie but the author has a knack of changing things each times he makes a new version wether it be movie, novel, television or radio.
Other than that I read the Harry Potter series but so did half of this continent and most of England rolleyes

You should make supper one night and act all suspicious then wait to take a bite after she does, and be like "HA! I just poisoned you with a very toxic..poison... You have 2 minutes left of your life." twisted ... Graphic novels that you should check out include Watchmen and V for Vendetta, both by Alan Moore. Do it. Do it do it do it.

Yeah, the Wind Singer trilogy is fabulous.
I've been reading lots of books by a guy called Scott Westerfeld. Uglies, Pretties, (and Specials... once it comes out) So Yesterday Peeps (I'm still reading this one...)
They're all really fabulous books, and he's a fantastic writer! You should read them. Now.
