My dad now is convinced that everyone under the age of 18 needs 9 hours of sleep per night because the radio said so, and that all teens are sleep deprived. I wouldn't have been so annoyed, but he started saying that all the 'symptoms' of sleep deprivation apply to me: being tired during early classes, (in fact, I am virtually never tired during school, save for when they show a movie in class- those seriously drain all energy), being in a bad mood all the time, (apparently, being reasonably to excessively cheerful whenever he isn't around to loudly burst into song, scream about pro sports, and scream headlines I've already heard, as if with the sole purpose of annoying me, is not part of his data), not excersizing, (true, but not connected to the fact that I go to bed at 11, fall asleep at what seems like 11:30 to midnight, and wake up at 6:30- but instead with the fact that the ability to play sports is not included in my genes), and sleeping late on weekends (in fact, I still wake up around 7 on weekends, but pretend to be asleep and daydream because if I appear to be awake, everyone will come in the room and annoy me). xd , those descriptions took up more space than I thought they would.. sweatdrop But it really does prove how little parents actually 'know' their kids. I find it mildly hilarious. xd

It's actually 6-8 hours. 10-12 means you're oversleeping and need a swift kick up the arse. I tend to have 6 and a half weekdays and at least 8 at weekends, but I like to lay there and let my mind wander, jus' like you said, Maria.

In high school when I was 13-16 I often got only 5.5 hours of sleep. I think it stunted my growth.
