Holidays and Folklore

The Dvergr actually keep a ledger of holidays and folklore behind their images, and oral traditions. Usually, legends lead to Holidays, although historic events also lead to both. Although there will not always be meta RPs for holidays, this is a good log and collection for RP flavors should you wish to track them for your Dwarves and Allies!

Most Dwarven holidays serve to feast the pride, and well. Fermented fruit is how a lion can get drunk, and oh do they love a good party. Feasts are communal and include all clans aside select holidays, and are held in Dvergrheim all day. During Holidays due to... Well drunk lions, the forges are also blocked entirely to prevent accidents, however, some holidays might be more somber, or celebrated differently!

Dwarven Holidays and Folktales are a communal project OOC, meaning anyone can enter holidays and folktales when there's an applicable RP contest for a dwarf, or if you have a REALLY REALLY REALLY good idea... PM or DM Eos your holiday and/or folktale! I don't bite I swear.

HOLIDAY NAME
Date's: MONTH/DAY
About Holiday: BLURB
How it's Celebrated: BLURB

Durin's Day
Date/s: 12/31-1/1
About Holiday: Durin's Day is considered Durin's Birthday as well as the start of the Dwarven Calendar. As the Father of the Dwarves, Durin's Day is commemorated in order to celebrate the day Durin emerged from stone.
How it's Celebrated: The night before, the pride gathers to watch an ancient image believed to be Durin on the wall, and as the sun sets and moon rises, the light illuminates the image of Durin in perfect clarity. As the Sun sets though the moon rises, the pride will begin the guard Dvergrheium until sunrise, when again the sun and moon both illuminate Durin's image and that's when the pride breaks into song about Durin, and fallen dwarves, food, and a lot of fermented fruit and revelry. Durin's day is celebrated to welcome a new year and give thanks to their mountain home, and foregathers with basically a dwarf party after a night guarding the image of Furin.

Bard Day
Date's: Midsummer
About Holiday: A celebration of bards and storytelling, keeping dwarven stories alive.
How it's Celebrated: Midsummer is the day when the best storytellers come together and tell the best stories of ages past, or even stories they invent. The winner is crowned and wears it proudly for the next year, and it is then passed on to the next winner. Famous bards are also honored on this day, and all work ceases for the day for feasting and great stories.
