A storm had rolled in, causing the sky to darken before the sun set. Lightning strikes, lighting up the sky and sending a wall of rain across the ocean. The rain could be seen like a curtain covering everything below. The beach emptied quickly. Everyone returning inland to escape the rain. Oshin did not leave, though; he merely sought shelter below the canopy of some low-growing palm fronds. The water pouring down was nearly snuffing out the wisps of blue smoke and flame that adorned his ankles. Swimming was the only time they would snuff out completely, and instantly show again once he emerged from the waters. He didn't feel it when it happened. But one could hear the hiss of the rain as it hit the heatless flames.
Thunder rumbled across the sky. Oshin thought he'd walk the beach after the storm passed. Many of those bolts were hitting land. Dangerous, but thrilling.
