He looked to tighten the hold by way of grapvining his legs around the champion's midsection. He could sense it, taste it, feel it.
If he could get the champion to pass or tap out, it would make all the struggles and setbacks he had endured worth it.

the one advantage both men have in these situations is long limbs. Lykos scrambles, attempting to pull them both to the ropes and finally reach his leg out to rest on the bottom rope and force a break
|

He felt that victory was imminent until he felt Lykos began to drag himself and he managed to get a foot on the bottom rope, forcing him to break.
One...
Two...
Three...
Four...
As the refree was about to get to five, he reluctantly let go of the hold and raked his hands on his face and through his hair in frustration. What more did he have to do to beat this guy?
He slowly climbed to his feet, eyes wide with madness as he looked for Lykos to get to his feet upon which Reich would look to knock out the champion with a Bullhammer elbow between the eyes.

Lykos is finally free and reaches up to grab the ropes, using them to pull himself back to his feet. Turning, he spots movement coming in his direction, a shot he can't afford to take. Ducking slightly, he looks to pop Reich up into the air and drop him with a desperation counter, a popup version of the Howler

As he swung for the fences, the big German was popped up and then sent crashing down as the Howler nearly folded him in half. His body spasmed as the air was ripped from his body.
"The Howler! The Howler! He got him JR. He got all of that!"
"Good God, I swear the ring just shook with that impact!"
Both men were down and the question was now if Lykos could capitalize.

Lykos drops with the powerbomb, unfortunately the victim of being without enough air from the choke for too long. As he rolls onto his back, attempting to recover, the referee has no choice but to begin a ten count as both men are down

Two!..
Three!..
Four!...
As the referee's count continued, Reich managed to rouse himself as he slapped himself to shake the cobwebs from the impact of the Howler.
He used the ropes to help drag himself back to his feet as a desperate plan began to form in his head.

as the count reaches five, Lykos manages to roll to the ropes, reaching up and grabbing the top one to once again pull himself up by the seven count, therein avoiding the ten count that would not have gone in his favor

The two men had beat the count, much to Reich's chagrin. The whole demeanor on Reich's face told the whole story; his eyes still filled with an unreleased rage, a snarl on his lips like a rabid animal. He began to stalk Lykos, circling him like a predator just toying with its prey.
"Look at the look. If I'm Reich, I gotta be wondering, what else do i have to do to beat this man?"
" I don't know JR, but I never thought I'd say this, but Lykos has definitely met his match."
"Oh absolutely King."
Reich closed the distance and looked to use his one arm to place Lykos in a half nelson and if they were successful transition in a cobra clutch sleeper.
"What a minute, that's the million dollar dream!"

Lykos soon finds himself caught from behind, locked in the old Million Dollar dream that so rarely gets used anymore. Scrambling and realizing he's still near the ropes, the champion kicks out, attempting to use the ropes to knock both men backwards to the mat.

Reich did his best to keep the hold locked in, yet he found himself falling to the may with Lykos on top as the champion had found a way to use the situation to get out of a precarious situation.
The crowd got on their feet as they sensed the end was coming.

for a few moments, Lykos seems to have made his situation worse. He appears to be fading. he's losing steam fast. Using his leg strength while they're free, he attempts to push him up and with one last gasp, attempts to swing his legs over and flip backwards, still locked in the million dollar dream but attempting a jacknife pin to force Reich's shoulders to the mat

REICH'S GOT HIM, WAIT THERES A ROLLUP!!
The referee dropped down to the canvas and the crowd rose out of their seat as the official count.
One....
Two....
Three
"OMG unbelievable!"
Reich had tried to kick out which released Lykos, but it was a second too late as the referee called for the bell.

Lykos is free and he'd just gotten the three count, getting cheers from the crowd as he rolls to his side and out of the ring. His music hits the PA as he staggers outside of the ring, holding his neck after the last few attacks to it. He backs up to the ramp and stops at the ramp as the referee catches up to him to hand him the belt and raise his arm in victory.
"Here is your winner and STILLL WWFG Intercontinental champion, Lykos!"
Lykos raises the title, backing up the ramp as he looks down to Reich in the ring. It had been lucky that he'd been so close to the ropes, but Lykos had kept the title, which the Dark Wolf is more than satisfied with

Reich lay there in complete disbelief as the announcement went out. Reich wouldn't let go of the hold. He wouldn't let go of the million dollar dream and it cost him the victory."
The realization of what had happened hit him like a thunderbolt as he managed to back himself up against one of the corners and he held his head in his hand in pure frustration and disappointment.
The taste of defeat was bitter to him as he kept his eyes locked on Lykos. "It's clear that this issue between Lykos and Reich is far far from over. Look at Reich, he hasn't taken his eyes off the champion. There's going to be another meeting between these two, and God I want to be there to see it!
Reich soon rolled out of the ring as the champion was already gone backstage. A few fans tried to console him by patting him on the back, but he bristled at their touch as he made his own way back up the ramp and through the curtain.
