Salem's serpent-like eyes continued to watch her edge closer, hearing her words but tasting the air for any ulterior motive behind them. He wasn't picking up anything yet, but he knew how hard it'd been on Kyra in Emiko's absence, and how divisive their parting had been. He wasn't about to forgive if she'd forgotten.
"Thinking about what?"

Emiko averted her eyes in near shame, looking on upon Kyra, who still smiled a bit, in nervousness to the tension she could feel between the two.
"On... it being selfish, of me... what I did. I focused on my desires, rather than, what was important... I shouldn't have run away."
She stood a few feet from him now. Returning her face to him, with sincerity. "I'm sorry."

Salem could sense the sincerity in her words, knowing this was a hard thing for Emiko to admit to. She was so arrogant the last time he'd seen her, him and Kyra both, but now, she seemed almost demure, as though expecting chastisement or conviction.
But she was holding their daughter, and Salem wasn't about to confront their darker demons in front of her. For the time being, Kyra needed the affection of more than one parent. And maybe, Salem needed Emiko more than he realized, too.
Scooting over in the big recliner, Salem patted next to him and smiled at Emiko.
"C'mere, and we can talk about it. Like a family, right?"

A hesitant nod in movement from Emiko, as she relaxed lightly. In timid smile, Emiko drew Kyra down in sit beside Salem, while she took seat on the armrest.
"Y-yes... a family..." A hand a lovingly caressing Kyra's head.

Salem nodded back at Emiko and leaned over to kiss Kyra's cheek, rubbing her back gently as he looked up over at Emi. He wasn't sure what had driven her here, or what was on her mind, but for the moment, making a good memory with his daughter was enough, as he turned to address the conflicted woman.
"So, what now? What brings you back? Are you planning to stick around? What's your goal, Em?"

Emiko frowned in uncertainty. To explain the nature of it, she couldn't, if Jay Blue Lighting himself couldn't. "It's... complicated."
She guided Kyra's head to lean against her side, craning her head down on her child. "But, I'm not going to leave my Princess behind again, so I'll be staying around."
