Markus is incredibly smart, which he uses to his benefit. He is able to logic out any puzzle, along with using his superior wit to outsmart various opponents, typically on the battlefield.

Specifically over things he believes benefit him, Markus is incredibly obsessive/possessive. He’s studied military strategies from across the world, obsession fueling him to learn everything he can.

Markus gets a thrill in making other people suffer. He abuses his wife and kids for the sick feeling, in addition to the fact that it makes them all more compliant to his whims.

Markus was the firstborn son to Dmitry and Silvia Antonov. His father quickly started raising him under study of military tactics, dueling, and harsh punishment. As he grew up, his parents had three other boys, all raised under similar strategy. Markus, however, had extra training, as he was the eldest, and eventually, would be the head of the Antonov line.... should he survive. By the time he was invited to Durmstrang, Markus was already a particularly skilled young wizard.

In Durmstrang, Markus was sorted in Vihreä for his cunning and strategic skill. He quickly excelled through both the scholarly and social ranks, utilizing his skill in reading people to always be the best person for any given situation. As he got older, Markus became smitten by a young woman named Ivona Botezatu. She was charming, charismatic, and could hold her own ground on the dueling floor. By the time they’d graduated, he’d gifted her his signet ring, and the two were all but engaged.

It wasn’t long after graduation that Markus and Ivona were married. Even quicker after that, she fell pregnant and his own army could begin. He began to train his wife in the duties he’d watched his own mother carry out, even going so far as to lock her up when she tried to leave him. They soon welcomed their first son, who Markus named for his father, who had recently passed.


As he continued training Ivona, Markus started on training Dmitry. They proceeded to have more kids, namely sons. When Ivona fell pregnant with a girl, Markus simply told her to get rid of the girl. He couldn’t ruin his perfect legacy, after all. The boys were all trained as Markus had been, but he preferred his punishments harsher. It would make them obey faster, would it not? By the time he and Ivona had had their seventh son, she had some medical complications that would apparently make it difficult to carry any more children. This, naturally, enraged Markus, who wanted at least ten in his set.


Without much consideration for his wife, Markus hired other women to provide him heirs. He started with a young woman from Wales named Gwen Eynon. He paid her off and she promised to take care of the son until he was old enough to be a competent young man, before he’d be sent to Romania to join the ranks. Unfortunately, it was four years later, when the woman died, that he discovered the nasty truth. It had been a girl. And since her blood was half his, the kid was dropped on his doorstep. He would have simply removed her, but the Romanian and British Ministries were keeping a close eye.


Despite her leeching off the Antonov resources, Markus went back to training the boys, molding them into Perfect Soldiers. Dmitry, followed closely by Augustín and Alexi were inducted into the inner ring, their stars turning from silver to gold to highlight their rank. As he continued to train the boys, he noticed a few displaying lack of perfect obedience.


When the girl child was old enough, she received invitation to both Durmstrang and Hogwarts. Finding a perfect opportunity, he sent her away, then moved the family into a new manor house. Either she would return over winter and starve, or she would find someone else to bother. He would simply say she refused to return home. He did, however, tell the boys she had died, if only to test their loyalties to him alone. Only one questioned him, earning Serghei a beating. A couple years later, Serghei proved his traitorous ways by stealing money from the vault and moving to Hogwarts himself.


The other boys, save one, spent all their time dedicated to dueling, war studies, and Markus’ orders. Matej also got a job with the Dragon Reserve, which Markus said was an honorable enough career. As plans continued to ramp up, Markus’ paranoia increased. He trained the boys even harder and shut out his family. His own brothers were slain at his hand, just to make sure none of them could try to claim leadership. He was prepared for whatever fight may come his way.
