Backdated to the evening of February 25th

The information he had was sparse, a loose description in his opinion outside of the mention of transcendence. Those glowing marks could be easy to see, assuming they weren't dimmed out like the two senshi's marks had been. Kerberos and Encke. He had a feeling it would be hard to find either of them and given what he knew of Encke from Desiree and Ako, it wouldn't be a productive meeting.

So while patrolling carefully, avoiding what felt like weaker signatures out tonight, he fiddled with the medallion in his breast pocket again. So far things seemed to be working correctly again, no more hiccups or searing hot metal against his skin from either the medallion or earring. But he still didn't like any of this, the information was limited and now that he'd seen how it was effecting other planets and worlds, he was even more displeased that Beni hadn't just done as the knight had asked. This was more important than oneself, something he rarely said, but it was evident after he'd seen the notes from Aquamarine about that energy he'd pulled from the mural as well as what the spikes seemed to be.

All of that would be neatly tucked away, he was a captain, he needed help, he wasn't someone with the responsibility or clearance to know things like that. That's what he would stick to as he felt a stronger pair of signatures nearby. If anything the fact he was still partially bandaged up might add to the credibility that he wasn't looking for a fight. But he never could know, he just rather hoped whoever was ahead would be reasonable.

Caution was needed now more than ever. He’d heard from Valhalla about the encounter with General Benitonite, of course. Just as he and Devyn had learned of everything his brother and Ganymede had learned on the Moon. With everyone going different directions, trying to figure out information, it was only natural for Sessrumnir and Alastor to head out into the night as well.

Staying in the city wasn’t their goal. They wanted to get far enough away from anywhere they considered a safe space before powering up. Even with Lucien’s help, Michael was cautious about always trusting the Mauvian’s aura dampening to block out every instance of being found out.

Unfortunately, they came across the aura of a Captain before they could make their way up to Jupiter and the libraries there.

Depending on what the Captain said, it might not end well for him.

“Enjoying the weather?” Sessrumnir asked, not shy about stepping out of the shadows. The sky above was stormy and purple, but it had been that way since a few nights ago.

“I can’t imagine the Negaverse having nothing better to do than harassing the people of this city. Unless the Negaverse is really oblivious to everything, in which case…”

Well, Sessrumnir didn’t expect the Negaverse to be able to help, anyway.

Alastor didn’t seem particularly motivated to strike up further conversation. He had no issue letting Sessrumnir take the lead in a conversation with the stranger. It was still early in the conversation and he didn’t want to bombard him with questions or accusations.

Easygoing despite the stress of the situation, Alastor stayed at Sessrumnir’s side while they approached and took note of the Captain, who appeared to be out despite having sustained injuries of some sort. He was bandaged, but Alastor supposed that could have been a ruse to garner sympathy or lower his enemy’s defenses.

Of course, if he did try to attack, it was the first place Alastor was going to go for. His curiosity did not override the importance of finding out if the Negaverse was willing to help them with this oncoming problem.

He hadn’t teleported away, so it was a good sign. So far.

So at least one of them had some sort of headpiece, just as Benitoite had said but then again, he hadn't mentioned a senshi aside from the princess and the other male wasn't them. But it didn't necessarily mean they weren't the right person so he raised his hands slowly, keeping them together as he rubbed at his bandage.

"No, not really. It seems to be like this all over, not just here." At least he hadn't had any repeats of getting struck by lightning, only just getting to see something damaged on Mercury when Ekstrom had brought him there.

Looking between the two, he couldn't place either of them yet but that just meant the odds of them knowing him were slim. "I think harassing people, as you put it, is a very low priority considering the weather. I doubt it would help the current situation, which seems to be effecting more than just this planet."

Wincing as he felt the bandage tug as he rubbed at it, he still kept from moving too much. "I really have no intention of fighting, I want to know what you both might know. Of course, I can say what I saw but my information is limited to here and a few other places."

“We’re well informed about what’s going on,” Sessrumnir responded quickly, his patience already thin for games. If the Captain knew more than he was letting on, then he better start speaking clearly more quickly.

“You want information from us? What information do you have to share? Have you seen the murals? Have you seen those spikes with orbs at the top? The Earth is in grave danger, so either tell us what you know and what you want from us in return or get lost.”

Yes, he was aware that the Negaverse probably had a great amount of information, but if anything they learned from Valhalla and his meeting with Benitonite, the Negaverse was perfectly fine with playing their usual games.

Not that he expected Sessrumnir to approach the conversation with patience and poise, but under his fairly unreadable expression, Alastor was amused. Hurried and to the point, Alastor couldn’t blame him. They didn’t have time to waste and what wasn’t spent here could be spent elsewhere, collecting more relevant information. Or actually doing something.

A note of it being on other worlds was interesting and meant one of three things–the first, that he was lying. The second, that someone had chosen to share this information with the Negaverse after they’d experienced it. The third, someone had taken him to their world to show him.

“Which other places?” Alastor asked, maybe a bit more conversational than Sessrumnir. If the Captain had information limited to here and other locations it was worth confirming that he wasn’t just making things up to send them on a wild goose chase.

Not that Alastor had time to fact check, but he still wanted to know.

It seemed the tone was set pretty quickly, something he could at least tell why Benitoite hadn't done well with things. Though it wasn't going the way they'd explained, he was well aware of how short some people were with things.

While he wasn't completely surprised by the murals or spikes, they did confirm that either any amount of the four senshi from order who had been there had a spike, or that someone from the Negaverse had shared information. He was fairly certain the information about the murals would have been spread, that was a given, but the fact that the Negavserse had a nicely organized way to spread information quickly would help in part with covering his a**.

"Yes, we all received images of the mural, but I have not seen the spikes up close. I know of them but not very much." It wasn't exactly a lie, he'd only seen the one that Benitoite had grabbed for just a moment before they'd been thrown back into the city and hadn't seen it since then.

Picking up on senshi's tone, one that felt less likely to lead to him getting into an altercation, he nodded to them.

"Yes, I saw the lightning strike a knight's wonder and damage it on Mercury. I... saw something unsettling in a photograph taken by a mirror senshi and then first hand. I have no real clue what it may have been, but they think it was near the planet Neptune." He hesitated slightly as he rubbed at his hand, thinking what else he could offer, considering he was still trying to get a handle on the wider effects of things.

"I want to help however I can, even if I may not be as strong as others in a fight or a general with more information or connections. This is bigger than any one group, so I want to help however I can, even if the part I play might be small. I have sketches I drew of what I witnessed, if you both want to see, but I understand if you both would prefer me not reaching for anything, though."

Sessrumnir cast a glance over to Alastor. They were planning on checking Jupiter and Alastor, of course, but now he was even more cautious about what to expect. He hoped there wouldn’t be storms there, too. But Mercury? Jupiter?

“Don’t be coy. If you’re going to share that you saw something unsettling, then tell us what it is,” Sessrumnir frowned, his eyebrows furrowed with agitation. He didn’t like playing these games. It felt like it was a tease. Like they were poking and prodding and seeing who would slip up and give out more information first, as if they weren’t all working toward the same goal.

The suggestion that they would be worried about the Captain reaching for something was surprisingly amusing, and Sessrumnir let out a humorless bark of a laugh. His thumb was already pressed against the fang that was attached to his belt. A Captain thinking they would worry?

It was clear that this unnamed Captain had no idea who he or Alastor were. And Sessrumnir was fine with that.

“Reach,” Alastor insisted, even gesturing as if to give the Captain permission. He didn’t seem worried about whatever the Captain might be hiding, whether it was sketches or a weapon.

He wasn’t much swayed by the insistence of not being strong, or playing only a small part. It was as if he were going out of his way to make himself as unthreatening as possible. Naturally, Alastor took note of every instance where he tried to minimize himself.

The Captain was outnumbered and outranked, and if he was serious about collecting information then he really didn’t have much of a choice but to work with them.

Alastor was curious. He could play along.

“I’d like to see what you found. What type of damage did the lightning do on Mercury? And what role is the Dark Mirror Court playing in this, what have they got eyes on? I’m not sure how they’re accomplishing that, are they able to direct their gaze off Earth somehow?” He knew very little of the mirror realm but he made a mental note to investigate a bit more. “Does the Negaverse know you’re chatting with us or are you going to get in trouble for this?”

Frowning slightly, he really had the foggiest idea what those scraps of creatures or things had been in the photo by the young mirror senshi. Melpomene hadn't gotten to talk with her one-on-one to find out more, but honestly, it was unlikely anyone knew that was from this planet.

Pulling his notebook out, he flipped through the pages slowly to the detailed drawings he'd done of the murals and the recreated sketch of the weird orb of torn pieces of something or others.

"I have no clue what it was in the photo, and what I saw in the few moments before the mirror shattered were inconclusive. I have honestly no experience with things off world." It was a frustrating issue he'd been working to remedy, even before this mess had started.

When the senshi spoke up again, he nodded and flipped to some less detailed photos and diagrams of the damage he'd seen happen directly next to him on Mercury. "Ekstrom's wonder was struck directly, some panels and instruments were short circuited by the electrical storm though nothing struck either of us directly aside from bits of metal." He'd been luckier with that than he had been with the mirror, most of it just scraping through his pants but nothing large enough to make it through and seriously harm him.

At the mention of the mirror court he sighed slightly. "I have no clue on that front, I only know because I sought a way to keep out of the storm from one of their senshi when I encountered a mirror that seemed far different than the others. It cracked and shattered quickly, almost as if my interaction with it sped up the process. The senshi has no clue if there is a pattern or reason to what is shown and nothing seems to have repeated." At least from what Melpomene had told him so far.

With a sigh, he rubbed at his injured hand again. "We are allowed to interact with order, something I have been trying to do for a while to get away from my general, but if they knew I was looking for that, then I fear they would keep me from going out to gather information. My situation is a bit complicated... I would rather not talk of that if that is alright though. A squire of Ganymede saved my skin last time before things went too far." His voice grew quieter as his shoulders hunched, his focus down on his hands and the notebook instead of the knight and senshi before him. If they looked into things, Novella could vouch for the scars and the situation, something he'd been glad had panned out and gotten him a visit up to that planet to poke around.

"I want to help, but there are too many things to look into and no way of knowing if any of it will help." Weaving in the truth, to strengthen things, he was frustrated in how much this all felt like a wild goose chase. But more than anything, he was exhausted and stressed.

Ekstrom?

Sessrumnir frowned, although he decided not to say anything about the familiar name. He knew of her from Amarynthos and Ephesus, and they might have crossed paths during large fights.

His eyes narrowed further with the story about trying to get away from his general, and then the mention of a Ganymede Squire.

He didn’t get too close, and if Alastor wanted to move closer to look, Sessrumnir would absolutely watch his back. But he looked at the notebook as it was flipped through as best he could.

But he couldn’t help but feel like it was a bad omen that these storms were more widespread than they originally thought.

“You have been busy,” he said, voice low in warning.

He paused to glance over to Alastor. He didn’t know the full extent of what was going on, but…

“Three to six weeks it’ll be here,” he shared. Ganymede and Valhalla had relayed the information they’d obtained from the Moon with them. “Looks like we need six of something to trap it again. No offense, but if you’re still being shy about your situation, how do you expect us to trust you or anything you say? Anyone can say they don’t want to talk about something they’ll have to come up with on the spot.”

He hoped he wasn’t being an a*****e for no reason, but the Captain seemed too well traveled to be a mere do-gooder.

Alastor imagined no scenario in any universe where he would have ever truly trusted a Negaverse Agent. If the Captain before them was anything but sincere, he didn’t pick up on it. There was a gnawing in the pit of his stomach, something twisting uncomfortably. He’d learned long ago to trust his instinct, even if he couldn’t place why.

While Sessrumnir stayed back, Alastor stepped close to observe the notebook. He kept himself just slightly angled so he could keep an eye on Chalcanthite’s hands. He trusted Sessrumnir to watch his back, anyway.

The information seemed good–interesting, at least. He wasn’t sure how much of it could be verified but he took notes of names and images all the same. If he needed, he could always badger the boys about reaching out to Ekstrom.

He understood the importance of discretion in sensitive situations, but perhaps because Chalcanthite was cloaked in Chaos, it made it easy to push beyond where he might have stopped with others. “If your General is giving you trouble, why not just kill them? I don’t mind if you keep your secrets, you’re only hurting yourself. But it seems like a simple solution, doesn’t it? I mean, leaving the Negaverse seems even easier, but.”

He shrugged. “You’d be able to do a lot more good if you weren’t bound by Chaos. Seems like the Negaverse is stunted with the information they can recover. I suspect you’d have a lot more luck without them. But,” he looked the Captain over briefly.

Maybe he was doing the best he could. Maybe he just didn’t have it in him.

“Not helpful to you, but I haven’t seen anything strange on my world. I’ve been up and down a few times recently and all my weather’s been fine. So it’s not completely widespread. I’ll keep looking, I can let you know if I find anything strange. What did you say your name was?”

Between the warning he could hear in the knight's voice and the push for more information on his situation, he could feel the precariousness of the situation. But with the mention of how short the time frame was, he did pale more. It wasn't much time at all in the grand scheme of things, much less time than he'd like to have to do things with more safety precautions or back-ups in place.

When they moved closer to inspect the notebook, he did flinch slightly at the proximity; it was a dangerous game with them so close, but now was when he had to focus and proceed with the utmost care.

The mention of murder had him gasp slightly, a hand moving towards his throat where the scar was hidden behind his ribbony tie. "I... had tried, but he took less than kindly to it." Pulling his tie slightly to show the long scar across his throat, he let his fingers trail and tremble over the older scar.

The mention of doing good stirred irritation in him at how it went against the good he had done, even from his position in the Negaverse. So many people that he'd brought in and given a better life and opportunity to, or had pulled from the edge of death. He didn't let it show, though, as he nodded sheepishly to the senshi.

Even now, he was glad that, even with his height, he was still rail thin and unassuming when it came to people looking at him from a fighter's perspective. It would hopefully continue to help with the lie he was spreading as he sought to look into more of these worlds of the knights and senshi.

"I... have a young child from my late spouse. I need to be careful and find a way out without them getting hurt." Speaking quietly so that the senshi would hear more than the knight, he trailed off after and looked down towards the ground once more. The wall of this lie he was stuck behind when it came to why he couldn't just leave. It would match if the other looked into things, something he'd been careful about when talking with other members of order.

"Oh... that is good at least." But he had no clue how far out they were from things compared to Mercury or Ganymede. There wasn't as much of a way to tell the path of the thing with so little information. If it wasn't everywhere, though, that did mean perhaps there might be pockets of space where it might be safe. It might be a loose backup plan, but it was something to consider as well, knowing he had at least a few who would willingly take him and perhaps Melpomene to their worlds or wonders.

"I.. yes. Please do, I can let you both know if I find anything else out as well." Fumbling slightly with the notebook as he tucked it away, he went to try to fix his tie. "Chal... that is what most people call me, but Chalcanthite is the full version." While he might have offered his hand in greeting, he wasn't going to push his luck.
