His office door stood open, just a crack, with the flickering lights of candles filling the room with a warm glow visible from the hallway. The office’s owner had slipped out of his office nearly half an hour ago in order to drop down to the green house he was in possession of, he had some plants to bring down there and others to water, this project was nearing readiness for the next stage. He had a surplus of plants in the green house, all ready to be planted somewhere in the city, he had each plant neatly labeled with its name and what kind of light it needed to flourish.

The general had been working hard to ensure his plans would go smoothly, because he couldn’t handle it if something went wrong or worse - it all failed. If he could find another way to supplement the energy needed, to provide enough to keep their numbers up, than he would have done something to help the Negaverse and hopefully bring them closer to putting an end to this war.

Smiling as he moved about, placing the plants in the same room as the rest, he stepped back out before he was too drained to exit the room, and stepped into the lab part of the greenhouse. The sooner this war ended the sooner people could get back to living their lives and focus on normal things. Though he didn’t know what he’d do with himself if the war were to end, he couldn’t honestly picture it…a Destiny city without magic and without fighting…without the danger.

He might not be sure what he’d do, not entirely anyway, but he had a reason to try and to accept a life without war if it came for them all. Safely in the lab he got himself a drink before going to turn the overhead watering system on for a short time, the plants needed it and he could no longer walk amongst them watering them each individually as they should be watered. It was too much of a risk to himself to tend to them so personally.

Despite her size and vibrant colors, Xyla moved stealthily through the castle hallways. Not a single agent paused in her presence or offered a nod in greeting. Then again it was probably for the best since she wasn’t really in the mood to be entertained.

She’d come to the Dark Kingdom to hide away in Prehnite’s office but alas the door was locked upon arrival.
While she could easily don her glamoured form and pick the lock with a hairpin or something, that required effort. Calling him was another option, but all she wanted was to nap in a quiet room on his cushioned furniture; pull him away from whatever plant book he had his nose in seemed a bit too selfish.

It wasn’t that his home wasn’t good enough but with people walking in and out of the house, opening and shutting front, bedroom, and bathroom doors throughout the day; she just… needed a few, or 10 hours, of rest.

“Where one door closes, another opens.” Xyla mused.

There, ahead on the left a door was open just a crack and as she quietly moved forward she saw inside was a fully furnished office. Furniture made of real wood, not the plywood Ikea shelves found in dorm rooms or the Barraks. There were plant, like Prehnite’s office, hanging potted ones, or used as book ends and desk decorations.

She drew in a deep breath and smiled, “This’ll do.” A quiet hum, as she lept onto the couch, taking up a cushion and a half. Her head rested against the armrest as her vibrant yellow eyes slid behind closed lids, the smell of potted soil and books not recently opened lulling her into a dreamless sleep that she hoped would last until morning.

After the watering was done, and the sprinklers turned off, the general had headed back up the long stairs, and down the long hallways, towards his office. His hands were in his pockets as he walked with a certain calm about him. The usual confidence people saw in him was not there, there was no need for it, he was just content with the state of things right now.

Coming down the hall to his office the blond sighed softly, seeing the flickering light dancing about the floor, and the wall, from the open door of his office. Stepping inside he was pulling off his coat, and the cape which was attached to it, and laying them over the back of his chair when he spied a guest in his office. At first he thought nothing of it, a mauvian was always welcome in his office, but then he saw the blue and black fur and the large size.

“Xyla…” The word, the name of the cat, a whisper as he stared with slowly widening eyes. He could feel fear filling him at the sight of the cat. Memories long buried…of a future which may never be, but also might come to pass, flitting about his mind at such speed it had him feeling light headed. He knew this cat…or rather he would know her? Or had known her…he wasn’t entirely sure how to think of that. It had been years ago the memories which had been set in a future which had come and gone. But perhaps it would come anyway? Just delayed.

Feeling his knees weaken the blond managed to sit himself in his chair and stared at the sleeping cat. Was she here also? Had someone else come across her and brought her into the Negaverse? He hadn’t heard her name or seen a file on such an officer but that meant little really, he hadn’t seen a file on this mauvian either.

At the soft murmur of her name, Xyla’s ear gave a slight twitch. A brief flick of movement accompanied by the subtle adjustment of her position. Her long, elegant tail curled closer, though she kept her chin resting atop her front paws.

For a short time she remained oblivious to the fact that the office’s rightful owner had returned. It wasn’t until the soft creak of a chair under shifting weight reached her ears that the blue-striped Mauvian stirred.

Her eyes blinked open, pupils dilated so wide that only a sliver of yellow remained visible. Xyla let out a slow yawn, stretched her body in an arch, and then gracefully settled onto the cushion once more, her tail wrapping elegantly around her paws.

“Strange, strange indeed… Oh, what a curious twist! A room I thought empty now holds two. But tell me, kind General, are you the visitor, or am I?” Seeing as he sat behind the desk, one could safely assume this room was his, but he could very well be an acquaintance who had arrived early for a meeting or rendezvous.

Still, her smile curled into a mischievous Cheshire-like grin. Amusement danced in her eyes as she took in the blond man’s expression, whether it was concern or worry, she couldn’t quite tell.

Leaning back in his seat the blond wasn't surprised to hear her speak, or rather the way in which she spoke, it had always been an interesting thing. Riddle like but not quite, at least not something which had a difficult answer anyway. She didn't seem to reconize him though and while he felt relief over it, and for good reason, he also sort of wished she did know him. He hadn't talked to anyone about those memories in so long, he'd done his best to forget about it all, but seeing her brought those memories back and he did wish she knew so they could discuss it.

"Curiouser and curiouser indeed, a room that once held one now holds two. I do believe you are the visitor though perhaps I could be such as well, as I do not own the castle in which this room resides. So it is not my dweling and the room is mine for now, though not forever as all living things die, so perhaps I too am a visitor?" He questioned her, tilting his head as he spoke, a bit of a grin stretching across his features as he relaxed slowly.

"I do believe I am a visitor of this planet, if we're going by what I've already said, and that notonly that but I am a visitor to life in general." The grin had widened even more, blue eyes bright as he stared at the resting cat. He waited to see how she would respond, time to have a bit of fun.

The mischief in her grin softened into something brighter, a genuine smile that lit up her face, her eyes sparkling with unguarded joy.

Rather than hopping off his couch, Xyla pulled from her subspace pocket the trinket that would allow her a few hours of glamour time. She activated it and where once sat an elegantly beautiful Cheshire-like Maine Coon was a young girl with long blue hair and golden eyes wearing a pale blue spring dress, ankles crossed like a young lady.

“I do think I like you, General.” She rose from her seat and offered him a polite curtsy. “You are right, we are but visitors to life but some carve their names in stone, while others are but whispers in the dark. So tell me, are you the writer of history or merely a passing verse?”

Ah, he knew she would like his responce. Not that his words weren't true, they certainly were, it was just a matter of how he'd arranged things and the words he'd decided to use. He could have said the same thing in simpler, easier, words and arranged it all better. But for this mauvian it was fitting he do as he'd done, and it had paid off he supposed.

"Given you've decided to take on another form, and make yourself even more comfortable, I can see that."

Comfortable in his seat, and watching the small female, he couldn't help but remember the past...a past which then had been a future. It was a future which never had come, but perhaps may still...but more into the future. What an interesting, and somewhat odd, way to think about things but really it was true and couldn't be helped. "Why not be both a name carved in stone but a name none would speak aboee a whisper wether due to revrence or fear - or both. A whisper in the dark doesn't mean one is a passing verse. A carved name can be a whisper in the dark as well, one which people still whisper to at night like a prayer, to whisper to when darkness comes." Tilting his head and moving to open a draw and retrieve a book from it. The book was settled, and the draw closed, before he was opening the book slowly.

"A passing verse is a sad thing to become but it is a normal thing...because time is the greatest enemy to people - not death. Death may claim the body and the spirit but time will claim memory. With time that verse does indeed become a thing which has passed beyond memory and with it the person has truely died. That which is humanities great wekaness, and what should be our greatest fear, is time. To think most of us will become nothing, due to time, and that we will miss out on the ever forward marching of time...the progress of people and this world. The questions that we will never see answered, the achievments we will never see achieved. With that things are shed...and names carved in strone errode and time will claim those names...it's just a matter of time...and there is much of that." Smiling at her, wondering how she'd take his words, he really had gotten a bit long winded he felt buut he did so enjoy such ideas.

"Personally though...I'd like to be the carved name which is whispered. At least I'll last the longest..."
