Alice had been working her way through the new cookbook that Mrs Nora had gotten her at the beginning of the school year, cooking all the recipes like she was completing a task book. After all, Alice absolutely loved cooking and she wanted to learn how to cook everything that she could. One of the recipes in her book included ingredients that she didn't have in the student kitchens so she had planned a trip down to the new grocery store that had opened in Hogsmeade when they had their next Hogsmeade weekend. When she had mentioned that she was planning a trip to the store to her friends, Ella had expressed an interest in coming with her. As the students gathered up to head down to Hogsmeade, Alice had found Ella and walked with her best friend on their way down to the store. Seb had said something about meeting them in town later, so Alice and Ella could have some girl time. As they walked down to the shop, Alice excitedly explained the recipe to Ella. It was an Asian inspired stir fry and while she had some ingredients already, she was going to purchase everything together so that she could keep it all fresh.

The blonde had duplicated the page from her cookbook so that she could carry it with her without having to remove the page from the book itself. Of course she could have and then mended the page, but the duplication charm was just as easy. As the reached the door to the shop, Alice removed the page from her purse, then she pushed open the door. She held it for Ella, then looked at her shopping list. "Gosh, it gives us a choice for proteins and I don't know what I want to try. I could do chicken, or beef, pork, even shrimp. Not a lot of people like seafood though and Liv is allergic. Gosh, I just know I need to make this recipe for like... eight or nine people. Everyone always shows up whenever I cook." Alice giggled at the thought, thinking that she knew Ella, Seb, Roxie, and Liv almost always showed up whenever she cooked. She'd been trying to convince Csuri to join them for their friend meal times, but every time she'd asked, she'd received a gruff answer from the elder blonde. But Alice still invited her every time... Glancing around the shop, she smiled. "I like this shop," she said excitedly, took Ella's hand, and started to lead her around the shop.

Ella's big, brown eyes looked up at Alice, a small frown on her face. Alice blushed as she mentioned forgetting Ella's allergy. It made sense to Ella... sort of. She briefly had a flash back to childhood where things like that would've been outright ignored - that is, if several of her brothers hadn't shared a similar allergy. Of course, Ella knew that Alice wouldn't have those sorts of malicious thoughts. The brunette nodded a bit as Alice said that chicken and beef would be good, thinking her correct. When her hand was claimed, Ella flushed a bit, her small steps moving a bit faster so she could walk beside her friend.

When a woman walked over, Ella tried to tuck herself behind Alice, though their held hands prevented the action. Ella glanced at the hands, then glanced back up at the woman. Thankfully, the Ravenclaw took the initiative to speak. She explained that they were doing an Asian stir-fry, then introduced them both by name. Ella offered a tiny wave with her free hand, half-hidden behind a curtain of hair. Carnelian eyes looked between the blondes while Alice pondered ginger. Knowing she was (most likely) safe, Ella spoke up in her normal whispered tones. "I-I um... found a recipe for a cake. B-but I need strawberries and whipping cream... p-please." Hopefully she wasn't intruding on the conversation. She didn't want to get in Alice's way, after all.
