Is anyone else in the path of Hurricane Helene? I'm in middle GA, and they are predicting really heavy rain and damaging winds. It's supposed to start raining tonight and then I think the storm is supposed to get really bad tomorrow night. I'm at home alone and getting pretty nervous. I'm so afraid a tree limb (or whole tree) is going to fall on my house. There's a big pine in my backyard that died last year and I haven't had the money to have it taken down. Since it's dead, I'm not sure if I can get insurance money if it damages my house. I'm so scared.

I'm in the southern piedmont area of North Carolina. The schools around here have closed tomorrow due to expected wind and rain. I don't worry about things here except for losing a few trees to soaked ground and wind. I also worry for my family in Florida.
I hope you stay safe Daffodil!

Thank you! The forecast is fairly alarming; it's looking like the eye of the storm is going to pass right over me or possibly slightly to the east sometime between 3 and 5 AM. Last night, they were predicting it about 90 miles to the west of here, which would actually probably be worse for my area. For those who live on the coast, I'm probably being fairly dramatic about it, but we aren't built for hurricanes this far inland. I may be making a mattress fort tonight. I can't think about what happens if that tree falls. gonk
