Tonight just didn’t seem to be it for the Squire. Not enough that it ruined her mood, but Ekstrom wasn’t feeling particularly great after an encounter with a youma ended with her taking a swan-dive into the Reservoir. It wasn’t the first time she got dunked in that place while fully clothed, and just like last time she actually had to make her way home while drenched.
It was a slightly cooler evening, at least, so she didn’t feel totally gross on the way, and she happened to have a towel in her subspace that she had draped over her shoulders after having spent a fair bit of time drying her hair. At this point she could only hope that she didn’t wind up with a cold, though if she did she wondered if it would be a good opportunity to take some time off of school and work. It was barely the start of the school year and she was already feeling stretched insanely thin…
With a sigh, she shook her head to dismiss the thoughts and turned her attention to the Order signature she sensed just ahead. It wasn’t much further before her expression lightened, and she gave the other a wave. “Evening!” she called out, hoping the other would be up for a bit of conversation.
Nothing like some company to help take her mind off of her troubles.

Aruna had slowly been getting the hang of being a senshi, gaining confidence little by little and venturing out on her own with less and less anxiety. That being said, she still jumped when she heard someone call out to her. She turned quickly, visibly startled, but relaxed when she saw it was someone friendly.
She lifted her hand to return the greeting, smiling a little as she nodded, though that quickly turned into a frown when she saw the approaching person was decidedly wet. "Evening. Are... are you alright?" Her brow knitted in worry, hoping the girl wasn't hurt or anything.its_ p a o I am so so sorry this took me forever to reply to!!!

Ekstrom gave a gentle wave of her hand as if to dismiss the concern, though she was plenty grateful for it. It was reassuring to find that there were still compassionate people out and about. She was blessedly surrounded by them, she thought, and that helped to lift her mood just that much more.
“I’m fine, but thank you for asking! It was just a youma and some bad luck, I guess. I wound up taking a dive in the Reservoir, but I won! No harm done, just a little wet.”
She offered her hand, then, hoping she wouldn’t mind a slightly damp handshake. “I’m Ekstrom, of Mercury!”

"Aruna, senshi of landslides." She took the offered hand, her own grip almost light as air as she shook it. "You....you got thrown in the Reservoir? You're sure you're okay?"
Aruna peered at her anxiously, genuinely hoping she was as alright as she claimed. She knew that if she herself had been thrown for a spontaneous swim, she would be significantly less chipper than Ekstrom currently was. She likely would have cried about it and been downcast at the very least. You have a very positive mood about it. That's amazing..."its_ p a o I PROMISE I will get better at actually replying! ”I jumped in, actually,” she said, again with a little wave of her hand. “Had to, to dust the thing and make sure it didn't get away from, so it was the lesser of the two evils.” It was always a good reminder when she thought of things in that way, that she dealt with uncomfortable things for a greater good. She wasn't doing any of this to be comfortable, after all.
Great if things worked out that way, of course, but if not…well. That was what she was jumping all in for, wasn’t it?
And she was jumping all in with this war. If it meant at least being able to protect those close to her, it was a no brainer. It helped that she also loved everything about her powered self, complications on her Wonder and all.
The comment about her positivity widened her smile, and she shrugged. “It’s water. Blood would be a different story, or someone close to me or another civilian getting hurt would be way, way worse.”

"You...jumped in?" Aruna looked at her with wide eyes, looking over her again to see if she was injured. "And you're sure you're alright?" She had bandages and ibuprofen in her subspace that she would be happy to offer should she need it. "Would you want me to walk with you the rest of the way to... wherever you're going?"

Ekstrom bobbled her head, wet hair flopping about at the gesture.
"Yep! And yeah, I'll be fine. It's nothing a hot shower, a hot cup of tea, and a few cookies can't fix." It was sooner than she thought it would be, but heading home was probably the best thing for her for now. Summer colds could be a real b***h, and she didn't want to have to deal with that if she could help it.
"Oh, if you're offering, sure! I was just gonna go home, I think, which is…"
She pointed in what was apparently a random direction. "That way! If you wanted to stick around for that tea, too, I definitely wouldn't mind the company."
