Hey Everyone! What do you think is the best thing about The Phantom of the Opera? Above all, I love the music. It moves me so much in life. It's almost as if it is the story of my life. Yet the character who really brings the music to life for me is the Phantom. His emotion and his passion just bring me to tears or make me laugh till I cry. No matter what mood I am in, the Phantom can always make me happy if not more happy than I was. He does it through actions, but mostly through the music. I'm always amazed when I see or hear it.

I think the story itself is my favorite thing. The realization that the Phantom deeply loved Christine and in return she loved him, but she could not stay with him. There was too much fear, too much that she could not live with knowing that he had done. Poor Erik. Many people ask how I can dislike Christine and favor the Phantom. She did not have to stay with him, but she could've at least helped him. Shown him some compassion. One meaningful kiss is not enough to cure his life of torture, what he had to go through. She could've saved him from his fate in a different way. And I still think Roaul's a baby.

The music is what I love.
But, I am a music nerd, so that is to be expected.

Oh, it varies. Depends on which version I'm looking at.
But I would say the music is a great plus.

Music and storyline. And, Raoul's a fop (no offense to those that adore him) and Erik should have gotten some love and compassion towards life itself from Christine...but Christine's a child.

The best part is the story. It is so moving and anyone can relate it to small aspects in their lives. In some versions the emotions it can evoke are so strong you can't help but reach out to the characters. The music is also good in some of the versions.

I love everything about it! The powerful emotions, the depth and gravity of the story, and probably most of all hearing those emotions and depth put down in music.

The story, both the music...mostly the story, because I can relate to what it's like to be alone, and over it's extremly sad and touching.

the beautiful thing about it is love. Erik loved Christine more than anything. As did Ruoal, (sp?) but he could have lived without her. Christine should have shown more love for Erik, much more compassion. One kiss will not change Erik's ways and cure him. The story is the saddest thing I've ever heard.
