And what Remarque was saying made sense. Even though she'd already given a lot of thought to doing this, switching allegiance to the Court, this was a major decision. And there would undoubtedly be arrangements to be made, things to be taken care of in her civilian life before she did it. Would she have to assume a new name and persona as a result of this? It sure sounded like it; nobody had ever told her how this sort of thing worked. Would she even remember anyone? Well, not like there was anyone in her life to forget….
She accepted the phone from him without hesitation. The offer of staying here and photographing the ruins, of exploring, of finding something to examine more closely and have Remarque hold it for her – in exchange for taking some time to put her civilian life in order and prepare for the changes this would bring – seemed like a good and reasonable bargain.
"Deal," she nodded. "It'll probably take me a day or so, there's not much to get in order. I don't have much of a life anymore." She snorted a wry, self-deprecating little laugh. "I… would like to keep studying at DCU. My minor is in archaeology, and I think something like that could help the studies here in Mirrorspace. I don't have a job, but I have an idea of where I'd like to work. And I'll need an apartment, definitely." Thinking some more, she remembered one more thing.
"Could I ask Lacerta to be there with me? She was the person who really helped me make this decision," she asked, looking at Remarque. "I'd really like her to be there, if she wants to come. Would that be okay?"
