Ida nodded. That was fair enough. If this was his second time, then he really hadn't had much time to really explore.
"Anywhere you suggest we start, Qi Yaloan?" She asked as she glanced back at Selenga's ancestor. "Otherwise... we could just take a walk around the border? I'm sure there is plenty to see that way, and you can get a feel for how big your wonder is at the same time. Maybe I can figure out which direction my tower is in from here." The prospect of that brightened Ida's face and her interest. It would be nice to find that bit of connection between them, how they shared the same world in different ways.

"I was about to say, a walk of the border wouldn't be remiss," Qi Yaolan said with a quiet laugh. "You read my mind."Selenga nodded. "That'll mostly be the riverbank then?"
"Give or take some yards from the bank, and I can't exactly remember where the river spills out and ceases to be the river.""I suppose we'll find out, then. Have you ever found a lake of some kind, Ida?" Selenga asked as he made his way out the door again, holding it for her. "Probably not another Wonder, but I suppose it could be..." It wasn't like he'd know, after all. It just didn't seem like it would make sense for the Wonders to be connected like that, to him, but that wasn't to say it couldn't happen...

Ida offered a smile and a nod to Qi Yaolan in farewell before she turned to follow Selenga, slipping through the door he held and out into the sunshine again.
"I have, but lakes, like rivers, are pretty rare here. At least above ground, I guess? But they're always fascinating things to see, because there is always things and plants there that you can't find anywhere else." She said as she headed towards the river. "There are actually some plants that act like a water pump? They draw water from deep under ground to form ponds and things, to draw animals and other plants to them. It ends up being a rich little ecosystem when everything is all together like that."
Maybe this lake was a big version of one of those? Or maybe it was more of a geological thing, like how springs formed on Earth. Some flaw in the ground that let the water escape to the surface. Rare and precious for certain, and probably a magnet for the few animals that had lived here, or just returned.

Selenga hummed, unsure himself. "I suppose we'll see. Perhaps it's an underground lake of some kind? Qi Yaolan only said it 'ceases to be the river'..." He walked with her along the river, noting that the flow of it seemed to increase for a while as they went along, the river bending and narrowing in some places, and then widening back up. The flow started to slow way, way down, and then the banks of it seemed to... flatten? The plants seemed sort of wet, at the end of the river, where it just... stopped flowing. The mildly marshy area was rather small, and just barely feet from where the river petered out in the first place, the ground seemed firm and dry. "Guess that answers that. Goes back under. Fascinating! I've never spent so much time outdoors, exploring things like this, but it's beautiful."

Ida bent when they reached the end of the river and the little swampy patch it sank in to, reaching out to run the long leaves of a trailing plant between her fingers. Even as long as she'd been taking care of her planet, there was still so much about it she didn't know or hadn't seen yet. All the knight wonders that were opening up were just further proof of that. Hidden pockets of places that resonated with a different soul than her own, that didn't belong to her.
That was the trade off, she supposed. Sharing the duty of protecting this place with other people also meant sharing everything else too. This place wasn't just hers any more.
"I'm a city girl, myself, so a lot of everything here was and is new to me. But its been fun to learn and grow with it, as the asteroid gets restored and comes back to life." She glanced back to offer him a smile, her arm curled around her folded knees. "I hope you'll enjoy it here too."

Selenga nodded, smiling at her and somehow feeling perfectly at ease. He liked that. "City boy with experience at the horse stables, and not really much with hiking," he said with a soft laugh. "Or riding through trails that aren't heavily used." He looked back towards the river, where it stretched into the distance, at the home barely visible on the horizon. "I think I will."
