Sol ll 4"Omph!" Sol let out a choked puff before getting his bearings together and bringing his hands up to hug his daughter. He barely had time to register Nimia's reaction, especially with Fiadah pressed so tightly to him. "Two boys. They're both young and one's a little older than Nimia was when we brought you two home. They're not brothers by blood, but they're close with each other so we didn't want to separate them." Maybe if they'd been told about one of the boys and not the other the situation would have been different. But after hearing the details on them Sol couldn't walk away.

Even he was caught off guard by Fiadah's shrill excitement. Koril flinched once at the pair of shrieks, and then again as the platter knocked into him. He instinctively tried to catch it, a few of the snack piled on his arm while the tray clattered down. Well, no one would want to eat food stuck to his arm... He laughed and gave his arm a couple shakes to clear it off. "It's alright. No harm done," he assured lightly. He would make sure to help clean things up later.
"Similar to your own age difference, really. They're estimating they're about a year apart. Do you think you're up to the challenge of two brothers?"

With the confirmation and a little affection from Sol, Fiadah spun and tackled into Koril next; she she had reined herself in a little bit by now. She blinked at the feeling of something mushy on her cheek and pulled her head back. Was that a melon slice stuck to papa's shirt? "It really is two of them?" She giggled with glee and she looked at Nimia warmly. "You hear that? They're close like us!" But, they weren't blood brothers. That wasn't something she had considered could happen. "Did you see them yet? Are they excited? Can we meet them soon?"

Nimia ll 5
"Can't be any harder than having a sister," Nimia beamed. "And besides, this time I won't be the only older sibling. You'll have to be the bossy one." The likelihood of that happening was slim, but it was enough to give her a little laugh. Brothers. She was going to have brothers! It was just so weird and exciting that it took a lot to process.
"How soon are they coming home? Or, well, here?"

Sol ll 5Now that he was able to breath again, Sol held out a hand toward where he thought Nimia to be and smiled when she felt her reach back. "They're still really little, Fiadah, so they're not as excited as you are right now. When we saw them they were a little...apprehensive, but that's just because they don't know us yet." Frightened would have been a more accurate word, at least for the older of the two, but those caring for them had been quick to assure the pair it was all part of the process. Infants adjusted faster than toddlers, but toddlers were still easier to pair than children and with time they would come to see the pair as their fathers. "I know it's asking a lot, but we'll need you to help us to show them they'll be alright. It might be a little rough at first."

Koril chuckled lightly, remembering when the twins had rounded out his own family of siblings. He had been older that Nimia at the time, but it had still been quite the adjustment! Of course, that wasn't counting the three other siblings before the twins had arrived.
"It will be a few days yet. They want to let the boys adjust to the idea of going to a new home and having a family again." A good family, at that. It was unsettling to see such young babes so wary of their presence. Understandable, but, unfortunate as well. "I'm just as excited as you are to bring them home, but like baba says, it'll take time. We'll have to take it slow."

Fiadah raised her chin and nodded firmly at Nimia's advice. She could be bossy! She really could! Of course, a silly smile of excitement bellied her firm gesture. The warnings from their fathers sobered her up though. She herself had been just a baby and couldn't remember transitioning from the orphanage to being with her fathers. Just vague images and feelings that she couldn't pin down. If only she could relate a little better... but she could still be helpful, right? Not to be discouraged from her joy, her smile rose again to reassure her family. "We'll show them how happy we are for them to be our brothers. That they belong with us." She looked to Nimia hopefully. "Right?"

Nimia ll 6
She turned to Fiadah and nodded. "Of course we will. We can handle it." When baba reached for her she gave his hand a squeeze, but it wasn't long before she was moving closer to give him a hug herself.
There were times when she could remember what she assumed to be their mother's face, but just as quickly Nimia would talk herself out of it. Maybe it had been one of the care givers instead or just someone her mind wanted her to think was their mother. How old were the boys? Could they remember their parents? Were they scared because they didn't want to leave or scared because they thought they'd never see their parents again?
You're reading too much into this. Her fathers had already told her they were little so maybe it wasn't that in depth.
"Are they shifters? Or are they hybrids?"

Sol ll 6"Giving them time to adjust will give us a chance to buy supplies for the trip home." As much as Sol would have preferred to ignore it all together he couldn't hide from the inevitable; they were going to need a shopping trip. Even if they couldn't find the sort of woolen blankets they needed for Zena here they would be able to find other things little ones needed. It wasn't as if they'd thought to bring anything down from home and what worked for teenagers wouldn't exactly work for them. Too bad the only sibling I have close by is Lutana. It would have been too convenient to have one of his other siblings close by. The others who had started having children of their own had them in droves and Sol's frugal mind would have had no issue 'borrowing' a few things from them.

Koril watched the girls and felt that excitement fill anew. Seeing the girls eager to rise to the challenge to come set any lingering concerns at ease. It wasn't going to be like their first adoption, but it was sure to be just as rewarding. "They're both shifters, and utterly adorable."
Supplies. He couldn't help a wince at the thought, but it was full of amusement as much as it was wary of the shopping to come. They hadn't exactly come out here with completely intention of adopting, but they would make it work.

Fiadah smiled and and felt that vibration of excitement making her want to move again. She parted from her family and went over to poke at the spitorog again. "Sorry buddy. Hangin' out with you's gotta wait. I've got brothers to get ready for!" She turned toward the front door as she stood and hurried to head inside. "Come on, Nimia! Let's go make space for them!"

Nimia ll 7
“Okay okay I’m coming!” With a Quick Look to her fathers Nimia turned on her heel and ran to the door. There was so much going on inside of her head that she completely forgot her book on the platform. Honestly, she would have forgotten the spitorog too if Fiadah hadn’t mentioned it. “Remember what I said earlier? About feeding you?” She motioned quickly to the dropped snacks and patted its head. “Eat up”
Where were they even going to PUT the boys? It was a two bedroom rental! Would they stay with their fathers or with them?

Sol ll 7 Now that it was just the two of them once more - with the addition of the spitorog- Sol could take a moment to absorb the day. There was so much they needed to do, so many letters his dear husband would have to write, but for now Sol was just content to move in closer to Koril. “Think we’re ready for this? I’ll admit, I was getting used to sleeping in.” He put an arm around the other man’s waist and pulled him closer - or, had intended to, at least. When his hand clasped around a piece of melon Sol’s whole face scrunched up. “What in the world…?”
