Lark & Nightingale is generally thought of as two separate herds, although they are really one very large combined herd. The Lark portion of the herd is a group of traveling bards. The Nightingale portion of the herd is a group of stationary bards and the taurs who live and work in the city of Lyrica. Where the wandering group takes up commissions on the road and journeys throughout the Chimereid Isles, the stationary group supports the thriving city of Lyrica, rarely leaving it. Each member of Lark receives a wooden token that gives them discounts on everything in the city. Lyrica is home to the annual bardic tournament, which draws bards and minstrels from all over the Isles. It is also a growing city, whose capacity expands through the magic of the land during the wintertime, to accommodate the Lark group and any tourists who come to participate in or watch the tournament. The heart of Lyrica is a thriving market, surrounded by many brick-and-mortar shops. Several taverns and inns have grown up out of the marketplace, ready to welcome any and all travelers. During the spring and summertime there is a mysterious night market where many unique and rare goods can be found. Lyrica is home to the bardic college, where prospective young (and sometimes not so young) bards can go to learn how to become a fully fledged bard.
