1. No One-Liner Posts
>>> Put some thought into your posts. You don't have to write a whole essay, but give us a few lines, at least. Describe your character's tone of voice, emotion, appearance, thought content, environment, body position, etc. Help us to really visualize the scene playing out. And specify names or defining features when interacting with different characters; we may not know who you are addressing if you refer to your counterpart as only "he" when there are four guys in the room with your character.
2. Write in the Third Person
>>> Try "Johnny raced around the corner..." instead of "I raced around the corner..."
3. No Godmodding or Autohitting
>>> Try "She lunged toward him, intent on angrily shoving him to the ground" instead of "She angrily shoved him to the ground." Your roleplay counterpart gets to choose whether the attack landed or was dodged. And if somebody autohits your character, feel free to disregard their "hit" and continue writing how your character dodged or deflected the attack.
4. No Killing a Character without Permission
>>> Pretty self explanatory. If this happens, I will allow the person to disregard the killing of the character and pretend it never happened. They can also file a complaint.
5. Remember That Your Character Does Not Know All That You Know
>>> Your character cannot know things that they have not personally figured out. For example....if s**t is going down somewhere else, they cannot have a "feeling" that they shouldn't go there. They also cannot know where to find everyone at every point in time; make them search around a bit.
6. BE REALISTIC
>>> Stick to your character's limitations! Your character's size, age and developmental level, experience, species and abilities, and traumas should match up with your character's behavior. An 8-year-old girl cannot throw a 200 lb man across the room unless she has some kind of super strength ability. A guy that you described as traumatically terrified of the dark should not be suddenly immune to it when the dark is used against him in a fight. If your character just discovered a new ability, make them learn and practice how to use it before becoming proficient with it. If you're injured, you're injured ALL of the time until healed, not selectively. If you're injured, please understand the limitations of your injury. Everyone feels pain. If you're shot, you will feel it! You can't hold your breath for an hour. You also can't be in a huge fight and not get hurt at all. I love fantasy roleplay, but let's maintain some realism here.
7. Grammar is Flexible
>>> As long as we get what you're saying, we won't go all psycho grammar bitches on you. No "lol" or "omg" in your roleplay posts unless your character seriously talks like that... which is odd. For the love of God, no smiley faces. No stars around actions... take examples from other roleplayers.
8. No Cybering
>>> I much enjoy not being banned. If you are unaware of the fact that you cannot describe your sexual fantasies on Gaia... now you know.
9. Please Contribute
>>> We don't enjoy characters that never ever appear. I know some people have their peaceful little corners in the guild, but we would much rather have more characters doing things in the storyline. If you are new and aren't sure where to go, please drop your character in the center of all the guild commotion [or you might be randomly attacked with something].
10. No Waiting on People
>>> Everyone matters, not just your own character. Things must move on with or without you in order to be fair to everyone and keep the guild alive. Sign on frequently so you don't get left behind.
11. Read Everything in a Post! And Respond with Something Thoughtful
>>> EVERYONE hates when no one responds to their character, so please pay attention to a full post. Don't skim or read bits and pieces; some people put a lot of work into their narratives in hopes that you will appreciate their thoughtful and detailed response before you respond accordingly. ALSO don't ignore when characters are talking to yours. It's easy to overlook, but if you notice it, then edit you damn post.
12. No IRL Pics of your Character.
>>> Please stick to anime and other drawings of people and species. It looks silly to have all the anime then one random guy to fight them.
