Nasrin Changes
Strange pollen had covered the area for the last day or so before the bitter winds of approaching winter dispersed it all. While Nasrin was still adjusting to life in Zena, the hybrid having decided to make this area her home where she could build a healing spa and inn for travelers, even she knew that the pollen was unusual for the area. It had been itchy, the pollen clinging to most and making her own eyes irritated throughout the night. It was so bad that she had placed a damp cloth across her face while she slept, Nasrin still staying at the family manor in a guest room while work was being done on the spa, and when she first removed the cloth and went to wash her face for the morning she had thought it a trick of the light that her hair seemed different. "I was so happy that my eyes weren't as irritated but what is this?" She mused, blinking in confusion as she wiped at her eyes a few times just to make certain she was seeing things correctly. Her hair was definitely shades lighter with some ombre added instead of the deep green as before. Had she accidentally used the wrong soap yesterday when she was washing up? Nasrin shook her head at the very thought. Surely not!
So what could it be? Nasrin pursed her lips, glancing over her image a final time before grabbing her clothing and getting dressed. A soft tunic over some warm leggings with boots laced up to keep her warm on a cooler day like this. Thankfully they weren't living in the heart of Zena so she wouldn't freeze to death, but even Nasrin found herself wearing more furs than ever before since arriving at the sanctuary with Taaru. Speaking of which....she hoped he could recognize her as she left her room to seek out her companion in the estate. Though in her confusion about her hair, the healer hadn't even thought to notice her own eyes had changed color as well. Talk abut a surprising twist!

Taaru began his morning chopping firewood in preparation for the winter chill that would roll in throughout the day. Zena's harsher months were around the corner, and warmth brought about by kindling would be much needed. He finished his last log and brought them to the side of the building where they were stored. He kept a few to bring inside since they would need to use some for their morning's breakfast. As he went about his business, his thoughts wandered to the world's most recent happenings.
Apparently, from what he heard from a traveler, some Aishan tree exploded somewhere causing a huge pollen cloud to wash over everyone. They weren't exactly sure of what the effects of this even were, but he didn't seem bothered by it at all. He never really was affected by allergies, though he seemed to notice Nasrin was a bit itchy and sneezy of late. At this thought he decided he would put some tea on to help alleviate some of her symptoms. He put the pot on over the stove, tossed some wood inside and lit the kindling with ease. Speaking of Nasrin, he wondered if she was awake yet...

After peeking in several rooms, venturing into the library, the dining area and even peeking into the back courtyard, Nasrin finally heard the crackling of a fire in the kitchen. "It is so quiet when most of the family is away." She mused, shaking her head before going down the hallway and twisting past the dining hall so that she could peek into the kitchen. The stone kitchen was larger than most, like most of the manor, with various shelves, counters and even an island in the center of it all to give one plenty of room to cook. With so many things to look at it took her a moment before she spotted the familiar white floof of hair that marked Taaru. Despite her worries it was hard not to smile brightly at the sight of him, especially when she noticed he was heating a pot of water on the stove. Was he making tea? How delightful!
"Good morning! What are you up to, Taaru?" She asked, taking a step forward even as she kept her distance just in case the changes would surprise Taaru. The last thing she wanted was to startle him and accidentally cause a mess in the kitchen!

Taaru finished preparing a cup of tea, and he heard Nasrin enter the room. He hadn't turned around to see her since he was concentrating on not burning himself or their breakfast. "Oh, good morning. Just whipping us up some quick breakfast."
He took the kettle off the heat and poured some water into a cup with the tea bag he had prepared. "I made you some t- uhhh" He turned around and stopped short and blinked several times. Nasrin's hair was lighter and her eyes were a completely different color, and then came the flood of questions. "Whaaat is happening? Are you okay? Do you feel sick? Is this some new kind of Matori disease? I've never seen anything like this before..." He had no idea what to think, or how this could have happened. "Think, Taaru, think! Your woman's life may be at stake!" He said aloud, pondering the possibilities until he smelled the food behind him burning. "Ah! The crepes are burning!" He exclaimed before removing them from the fire.

And there it was. Nasrin had to suppress a laugh, the hybrid less concerned about her sudden changes than Taaru was, and she quickly took a step forward to make certain he didn't knock anything over in his frenzy. "I'm fine, I think." Perhaps it wasn't the most reassuring of answers, but she honestly wasn't even certain what had made such changes. Could it have been the strange pollen that filled the air over the last couple of days? She had heard about plants and allergies having an affect on earthlings, but never to this degree! "Crepes first, these changes later." She commented, a gentle laugh slipping past her lips despite her best efforts to behave. Her life may not be at stake, but being called his woman definitely brought a happy flush to her cheeks.
"Hopefully it doesn't look too horrible. I feel fine, honestly." She reassured him again before frowning. "Nothing seems different about you though. So it was only me?" Not like they had anyone else to check at the moment with everyone away on business or taking care of other matters for the next few days. As she spoke she moved to the shelves to try and gather some fruits, chopping up berries to add to the crepes.

"But," he started, but watching her made him stop his protest. As long as she felt fine, it wasn't anything to worry about, right? "Well if you feel off, let me know..." He still couldn't help but worry a little. He finished the tea and flipped another crepe, then rolled them onto a plate. and handed them to Nasrin. He got a good look at her up close, and stared deeper into her newly colored eyes. "You? Look horrible?" He couldn't help a smile. "No way, you look even... cuter" his voice trailed off as the compliment left his lips, and he couldn't help but look at her with awe.

"No worries. I'll stay alert for anything other than these physical changes." Nasrin replied with a comforting smile, her expression brightening as she added a slight tease. "If anything the only discomfort I may feel is from my stomach protesting because of how delicious these crepes smell." Taaru was a gem, it was definitely a great call for him to make some tea and breakfast. After tossing and turning so much the last couple of nights because of how uncomfortable she had been with these allergies a fresh breakfast was a much needed pick me up. She accepted the plates, arranging the berries on both and had reached for some honey, the jar dangling from her fingertips when Taaru leaned forward and inspected her. A deep flush bloomed across her cheeks at the compliment, Nasrin nearly dropping the jar before stumbling to catch it.
"Ah....I see!" She managed finally with a laugh, her cheeks completely warm all the way to her finned ears. "You find me cuter, got it. That's a much better answer than being repulsive from the changes so I'm definitely not as concerned now." She dashed the honey across the crepes and left the jar on the counter so that she could scurry away with the plates, dropping their food off on the nearby table that was set up near the kitchen door for those who wanted to eat inside the room rather than in the grand dining hall. "Bring over the tea?" She called out towards Taaru, the hybrid hoping her flush had somewhat calmed down since her tactical retreat to the table. It was almost a shame that he hadn't changed so that she could tease him in return though Nasrin found Taaru handsome as was. It would be strange to see him with changes, that was for certain though she had the feeling he could pull off whatever changes the pollen would have created. Nasrin was just happy that she was lucky enough to apparently be cuter....the reminder of Taaru's words making her cheeks flame once more.

Taaru watched as she moved their food to the table and grabbed their tea, carefully walking over and gingerly placing it on each spot. He couldn't help but admire the noticable flush to her cheeks. He had known her for some time, and her shyness still showed from time to time. Of course she had come out of her shell a great deal since they began their adventures travelling together as the power medicine couple treating people and animals, but she still had her moments whenever he paid her compliments, or looked at her intently and admired her as she worked. Even with her new look, he couldn't help but welcome the changes because, after all, she was still the same Nasrin.
"Hmm," he blew on his tea and took a bite of his food. The only possible explanation he had for her hair and eye color change was the newest happenings with the exploding tree. After he swallowed, he continued his thought out loud. "Yes, I think you are in good health, and the pollen in the air may be the cause of this... But why didn't I get any new colors? Wouldn't it have been cool if my hair turned green, and my eyes were purple?" He jested. Part of him was thankful not to be changed. He loved his fluffy white hair that his mother passed on to him, and his father's gold eyes. Whenever he looked in the mirror, he was reminded of his parents, whom he loved dearly. Even his sister, even though she was a butt. The thought put a frown on his face. He hadn't seen her in a while, and actually missed her. I wonder what she's up to right now...

Nasrin stabbed her fork into the crepes, pulling the delicate layers apart as she pondered Taaru's questions and avoided looking at him directly for fear that her cheeks would flame once more. After grabbing a piece of both crepe and berry, the healer chewing quietly as she reflected upon the changes, Nasrin finally managed to find her voice again. "Hmm...green and purple seems a bit drastic." She started with a soft laugh, Nasrin taking a sip of tea as she swallowed another bite of food. "I think you're handsome as is, so even the pollen didn't want to touch you. Maybe though it is simply like any other allergy? You aren't as affected as I was this time around....I wonder if the pollen is the culprit how many others may have changed because of it." Would they go into town to see the locals drastically changed? Even Nasrin couldn't offer anything at her spa to help with this, not that she could think of at least. Save for dyes and maybe shampoos or soaps that would help with any lingering irritation from the pollen.
"Maybe it's best that we're still working on setting up the inn and spa." Nasrin joked lightly, her gaze thoughtful as she finally looked back towards Taaru. "As much as the crepes are delicious I can't offer anything to change earthlings back if this is permanent. I've never heard of such a thing like this pollen before, it's truly mysterious." She could research it, perhaps trying some medicines for her own health, but as long as the changes were only physical like this then there was no need to worry. At least that was her hope. Some may be upset about how different they could look, but Nasrin was fairly calm. As long as she still felt like herself, who cared if her hair and eyes looked slightly different? She glanced at the tips of the hair that was curled over her shoulder, the messy ponytail the only thing she had managed to do this morning in her rush, and honestly the new color was not that bad at all.

Taaru jokingly pouted as he finished his meal. "You're only saying that because you like me." He smiled after his tease. "But, on a more serious note, you're right about the changes. So long as they're only superficial, things will be okay. Of course everyone will need to adjust to their new looks if it is permanent... Still, though, it never hurts to e prepared for any adverse effects. Maybe I'll go gather some extra herbs from the market today, just in case." His smile faded. Perhaps it was best to see if any of the other villagers experienced these changes. He partly wanted to go into town as an ulterior motive to scout to see its effects on the other earthlings.
Taaru took another sip of tea and enjoyed Nasrin's company while thinking to himself. He couldn't just leave Nasrin here to set up on her own though. Taaru wasn't sure what the best thing to do in this situation was.

Nasrin simply smiled, shaking her head at the pout. What a goofball! "Of course." She replied with a grin, finishing off her own crepe as she listened to him. "Extra herbs? That's honestly a fair idea." She agreed after a moment, her hands curling around the cup of tea so that she could enjoy it for a moment longer. It seemed that the changes from the pollen would definitely stir some activity within the village and she wanted to enjoy the calm before the storm while she could. Nasrin knew others would probably want to try selling some sort of concoction, promising results for those bothered by the changes, but she was not some swindler. She truly just wanted to help others, hence why her inn was going to be a spa as well for healing purposes. She was just thankful that she had Taaru with her, inspiring her to make such bold moves and even helping her to rebuild the old farm into the inn that she had always dreamed about.
"I suppose then it wouldn't hurt to take a day for exploring the markets. The work on the inn can wait until tomorrow while we get supplies. We could gather herbs together and see how frantic everyone is with these changes." She proposed after a moment, taking another sip of tea as she studied Taaru. "Once we finish eating, we can get ready and take some raptrix or walk that way. What do you think?" They could finish up here and then get ready, Nasrin would definitely need to at least fix her hair before they left since it was still a bit messy after rushing downstairs because of these changes.

"Perfect then, I'll grab our coats and we'll see what it's like down in the village." Taaru started to clean up all of the dishes they used, and dried off his hands. "I wonder if we'll see the old Zenan man who frequents the market square with crazy blue hair and purple eyes." Taaru joked, trying to make light of the situation. He honestly hoped there wasn't anything drastic that happened to the rest of the villagers. Taaru finished up and grabbed a coat for them. He helped Nasrin into her coat, before putting his own on. "Gotta make sure we don't catch a cold. You ready?"

A giggle escaped despite her best efforts to not laugh at Taaru's antics. "Oh, I hope not! Can you imagine how panicked he would be? Though maybe he would like the change since he talks about how long and boring his life has gotten." She teased lightly, shaking her head as she even dared to imagine what the market would be like if so many others had changed like her. Maybe she was more sensitive since she was from overseas? They would find out soon enough, especially if the old man did have those purple eyes! Nasrin giggled again at the thought, shaking her head a final time before allowing Taaru to help her into the coat. She enjoyed the moment, the familiar warmth of his body comforting, before snuggling into the fur that kept that lingering warmth against the cold. "Thank you." Nasrin whispered with a light flush on her cheeks, the young healer still sheepish at times with how Taaru could make her heart flutter with such simple actions. He was always so nice to her, after all. "Maybe we can take one raptrix in case we have a lot of supplies, but we can walk together instead of flying?" She offered as she moved towards the door, the grand entrance marking their last moment of warmth before going out into the cold. "I would like to enjoy the day a bit since it's sunny out and there's no threatening clouds in the sky to make me worried about snow." Worst case if it did start snowing they could take the raptrix back, but for now she simply wanted to walk towards the market together and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding valley along the way. Nasrin nodded at the thought, her newly colored gaze bright and hopeful as she glanced towards Taaru and waited for him to guide them outside.

"Very well, a walk in this brisk weather sounds quite nice. I'm sure there isn't a hint of snow in the near future, so we should be fine." Taaru held open the front door for Nasrin. As he followed her out the door, he couldn't help but admire her new hair color from behind, and as she turned around to check on him, the sunlight hit her just... perfect. That single word was the only thing that came to his mind, and he blushed. After a moment, he cleared his throat and shook his head. He clasped his hand in hers, and they walked towards the stable to retrieve one of his family's raptrix.
