"Yeah, exactly like Toedscool." Matteo concurred with a nod. Looking back towards the Wiglett he thought about it and Buizel for a moment and gave a node of confirmation. "Yeah, Buizel should be able to handle it, even in spite of them both being Water types." He said, looking at Buizel who had now stepped up and got into a fighting position, not even giving the question a second thought. "Well there you have it." Matteo chuckled. "Alright, Buizel, let's get right to it! Close the gap with Quick Attack!"
Without a sound Buizel would get on all fours and with a burst of Normal energy from its feet rushed towards the Wiglett, the worm-like Pokemon only seeing the Buizel just as it was slamming into it. Upon being hit the Wiglett's body would be forced out of the sand further as it stretched out and hit the ground thanks to the force of Buizel's Quick Attack. As Buizel came to a stop it would turn around and face the Wiglett as it wobbled a bit and retracted somewhat into the ground. With an angry cry it too was ready to fight.
Pulling back and stretching out again, this time on purpose, the Wiglett would sling its entire body around and kick up some wet sand, sending it flying into the face of Buizel as it used Mud Slap. Matteo's Pokemon would stumble back from the force of the clod of wet sand hitting it and would began to try and get it out of its eyes.
"That all you got? Use Swift!" Matteo commanded.
Buizel would stop trying to clean its face off and instead began to rotate its two tails around rapidly, generating a shower of Normal energy stars from them and sending them flying towards Wiglett. Thanks to the nature of Swift Buizel didn't have to worry about aiming at the foe, just the general area, making the accuracy reduction of the Mud Slap moot.
One by one the Swift stars would strike their target, the Wiglett grunting in pain with each hit. Once it was all over the Wiglett would give out an annoyed grumble before quickly retreating into the ground giving both Matteo and Buizel a start.
"Watch out! It's probably going to pop out again! Stay alert!" The boy ordered his Pokemon.
Buizel would rub its eyes a bit more and would try to do just that, looking around frantically the best it could. A small mound of sand would build up to the left of it and Matteo would call out to his Pokemon to watch its left but alas the Buizel was too disoriented with its now poor vision and looked right instead giving the Wiglett the opening it needed as it popped up out of the grand, stretched out high, and Slam'd itself into Buizel's side, sending the weasel flying and tumbling across the beach.
"Buizel! You okay!?" Matteo called out to his Pokemon, the Buizel rolling back onto its feet and giving Matteo an 'I'm okay' wave. Seeing his Pokemon was still in this Matteo would continue the fight. "Alright, get in there again with Quick Attack!"
Like before Buizel would get on all fours and with a burst of Normal energy began to run across the sand back towards Wiglett. It would appear Buizel had got enough sand out of its eyes by this point as it actually connected with the other Water type, causing it to flop against the ground hard like before.
Buizel, annoyed and feeling winded by now would come off the ground again but this time would violent intent as it attempted another Slam. Seeing this Matteo saw his opening.
"Buizel! Stand your ground and Bite it!" Matteo cried out.
The Wiglett would come down and Slam into Buizel, the Water type letting out a pained cry but motivated by its trainer it would not let the Wiglett pull away so easily as it immediately clamped down on it with Bite. The Wiglett would cry out in pain and immediately began to flail around in pain, trying to get the Buizel off.
"Don't let go! You can do it!" Matteo motivated his Pokemon further.
As Buizle held on with all its might the Wiglett would flail around for a few seconds more before its flailing got weaker and weaker until it just fell to the ground with Buizel still on it, no longer moving. Wiglett fainted.
"Alright! Good job Buizel!" He cheered for his Pokemon as Buizel ran up to him and the two gave each other a high five. With that done Matteo would go about administering a Super Potion to refresh his Pokemon. With that done he would begin to look around before turning to Tristen. "Did you have anyone you wanted to train?"

Tristen would watch Matteo’s Buizel engage with the Wiglett, trying to see how convergent this thing was compared to a Diglett, and truthfully? There didn’t seem to be too much. Though honestly, perhaps considering that this was between two water types probably didn’t help a whole lot. Either way, Matteo and Buizel was well into this battle and they came out victorious against the wild Wigglet.
As Tristen watched Matteo take care of his Buizel post the fight, he listened to the Growlithe hybrid and thought for a second. Truthfully, he didn’t really have any intention on training any more of his, especially after evolving two of his Pokémon just yesterday. On second thought, however, Rookidee could maybe stand to do a couple of battles. It was probably still going to be a while before the bird would evolve for any reason, unlike the two yesterday who had been putting in effort for a little while at least. But it’d be progress with the tiny bird. “I suppose I could give it a shot.” He said, taking out a Pokeball. “I didn’t get to do a whole lot with Rookidee like I originally wanted to before we got caught up in that trainer battle yesterday. So why not?”
Tristen tossed out the Pokeball and out came the blue and black bird, a shrill harkening to its appearance. “Hey Rookidee.” He said, calling the bird on over to him. The bird would flutter on over to the Manectric hybrid’s shoulder. “We’re going to get some exercise in today. Sound good?” The bird would chirp out a little, good to go. “Okay then, lets see what else is out here.”
Tristen would start going about the beach and something caught his attention, almost near immediately, a bit astonished. “Huh…with Wattrell hanging around here a lot, I’m kind of surprised to see one of those.” Tristen said, pointing over towards another flying type in the area. While he would have otherwise expected a Wingull to be around in places such as this, the Wattrell here seemed to be in much greater numbers, and that was plenty of electricity that a Wingull probably did not want to have any business with. Now that he thought about it…
He then looked elsewhere in the skies. Apparently the Wattrell weren’t around. At least for right now. There wasn’t much electricity in the skies, if any, now that he thought about it. “Well, I guess good as time as any. Want to give that Wingull a try?” Tristen asked the Rookidee. The Rookidee fluttered off his shoulder then started to circle about the Wingull preening itself there upon the beach. Perhaps it was here waiting on the supposed Arrocuda that were supposed to be around here. Whatever it was doing, it was about to get caught up in a Pokémon battle now. The Wingull perked up, staring in confusion as the Rookidee started to make a dive towards the Wingull. “Aerial Ace!” Tristen shouted. The bird would come down and with a rapid strike, land a harsh, passing blow to the Wingull.
The coastal bird would flutter in a near panic as it got hit, then managed to get up in the air, looking at the Rookidee that was picking a fight with it. The Wingull would go off in pursuit, faster than both Rookidee and Tristen initially expected, bolting up towards Rookidee and retaliating with its own Quick Attack. The tiny blue and black bird would start getting pummled, left, right, below, and above in a relentless assault. “Rookidee! Hone Claws!” Tristen would shout over to him. Rookidee could take a little bit of a beating in spite of its stature, prompting Tristen to try to work on a bit of a plan to drop this Wingull. The Rookidee would break away from the Quick Attacking Wingull then start focusing its power, tensing itself up and carefully tracking the opposing Wingull, raising its prowess in battle.
The Wingull would fly around, then open its beak wide, firing a harsh Water Gun spray towards Rookidee. Rookidee would quickly try to evade it, avoiding the initial shot then started to try to move in. The Wingull was relentless, trying to blast the Rookidee out of the air. The bird would start dipping, weaving, and diving, trying to avert the water gun blasts. However, the Wingull would manage to clip the bird with one of the shots. The Rookidee shrilled out as it started to fall for a bit. “Rookidee, hang on!”
The bird would quickly flutter and right itself. “Get back in! Fury Attack!” Tristen shouted. The bird went back on the attack, moving in. The Wingull once again would try to blast the bird out of the air with its water gun attack. The bird would weave about again, trying to avoid the shots as he got ever closer to the antagonized Wingull. The Wingull would go wide-eyed when the bird was finally too close and the bird would start, clawing with its tiny talons and pecking away at the Wingull. Feathers started to fly as the birds clashed and started to tumble out of the air, seemingly on a crash course to the ground.
The Wingull would break away from the attacking Rookidee, trying to flap away as Rookidee tried to keep pursuit. The Wingull would then turn around and then gave hard flap of its wings towards the Rookidee, blades of air firing from the bird. “Rookidee! It’s an Air Cutter! Watch it!” Tristen tried to warn his bird. However, the Rookidee would end up getting caught up the attack, stopping his pursuit. The Wingull would then capitalize on the attack, flying off and gathering power in its wings. A Wing Attack, tried and true. “Rookidee!” The bird managed to look back, seeing the Wingull was now in the one in pursuit then quickly fluttered off trying to avoid the attack. “Dive!” Tristen shouted.
The bird would quickly dip down hard, breaking away from the Wingull’s pursuit, having the coastal bird go over his head. “Rookidee! Power Trip!” Tristen then shouted. Tristen would gather its power together then went back on the pursuit of the Wingull. The Wingull would managed to fly around, trying to get a read on where Rookidee was, but by the time it managed to see it again, the bird was already coming up on him, a dark aura flaring up about the bird. The bird would smash full body into the Wingull with its Power Trip attack, catching the Wingull off guard.
The Wingull would end up falling out of the air and hitting the sands below, knocked out from the harsh Power Trip attack. “There we go! Nice work, Rookidee!” The Rookidee would shrill out once again, proclaiming victory. “Come back down, alright?” he told the bird, calling the bird back on over to him. “Well that wasn’t too bad.” He then told Matteo.

"That was a pretty cool battle!" Matteo commented as he approached Tristen after his and Rookidee's battle with the wild Wingull. "What was that last move? You called it Power Trip? I'm unfamiliar with that one, then again we don't have Rookidee around here, the local Tinkaton make sure that evolution line stays out." The boy said with a chuckle, even though the truth was a bit more grim. "Either way, good job. Now I guess it's our turn Buizel...let's see if we can't find anything else here..." He said as he scanned the area and walking at the same time, his Buizel following behind.
Making his way down the beach a little further Matteo would search for a Pokemon to battle, spotting a small hunting flock of Wattrel over a rippling section of ocean and deciding it would be best to stay far away from them. Not just because of the type disadvantage for Buizel but because Wattrel could get pretty wild while they were hunting.
Going a little ways up the beach and further from the shore he spotted his target, a bunch of rocks that looked like that had fallen years ago from the cliff. "Over there!" Matteo said, pointing at the rocks. His Buizel would look in that direction and just see rocks. Looking from the rocks and back to its trainer the Buizel would tilt its head and confusion, unsure what he was talking about. Sighing Matteo shook his head. "Trust me, there is something there. In fact, why don't you blast those rocks with a Water Gun? You'll see what I'm talking about then.
Shrugging the Buizel would do as its trainer ordered and stepped up a little closer to the rocks before inhaling deep and unleashing a violent stream of water from its mouth, the Water Gun slamming into the rocks. Immediately there would be a reaction, first with a cry of pain followed by one of the 'rocks' rolling away from the rest before coming to a stop. Now facing them the group could see the orange eyes of this brown and white rock blinking. "Nacli!" Cried out the Rock Salt Pokemon.
"See!? Told ya!" Matteo shouted, sticking his tongue out at his Buizel who returned the gesture with its own tongue, the pair playfully teasing one another.
While they played around the Nacli went about its revenge as it absorbed the water on its body, concentrated it on the top of its head in the form of a muddy mass and fired off a Mud Shot at the Buizel.
The Mud Shot would fly towards and slam into Buizel, catching it completely off guard, the Pokemon getting hit in the side of the face thanks to facing Matteo, Buizle stumbling from the impact. "Huh? Hey! That was a cheap...shot...we did the same though..." Matteo said, his initial one of anger but realized he had no right to be. "Whatever. Buizel, let's wrap this up quick, use another Water Gun!"
Wiping the mud off its face Buizel would turn back to the Nacli and huff, tired of these wild Pokemon throwing dirt and mud at it. It has only happened twice today but twice was enough for it. Inhaling to build up water in its mouth Buizel would then let loose a Water Gun, the stream of water slamming into the Nacli once more and sending it rolling backwards and slamming into the side of the high cliff. Nacli fainted.
"That's how you do-...it?" Matteo began to say until he heard a strange noise.
The force of Nacli hitting the cliff would shake something loose that was on the cliff as a purple and blue creature came falling down, landing on its feet between the fainted Nacli and Buizel. "Craaab!" Cried the angry Crabrawler, not too pleased about being knocked off the cliff it was trying to scale, its Anger Point causing it to reach a fever pitch. Without anymore delay the Crabrawler would rush towards Buizel, blaming it for its predicament as it quickly closed the gap and delivered a powerful punch from its orange glowing claw as it utilized Reversal. The force of the punch was so powerful that knocked Buizel off its feet and sent the Water type flying.
"Buizel!" Matteo cried out as he ran after his Pokemon. When he got to his Buizel he could see it was knocked out cold from that one hit. "What the...how strong is that thing!?" Matteo shouted as he looked back at the Crabrawler.
The Crabrawler was strong but there was another factor. If they looked close enough it could be seen the crab was already winded and scuffed up, its health already dangerously low. That fall had caused it to take critical damage activating its ability which raised its attack and then it used Reversal, feeding off of the damage it took to empower its attack. Strong it might be it couldn't take much more damage. Maybe Tristen and Rookidee could take it out quick?

“No Rookidee around here?” Tristen asked. He could have sworn that he’s saw a few…though he does believe the Tinkaton thing, having seen that when he first arrived here. Never mind Leslie’s…temperament for better or for worse. Whenever Rookidee evolves to his final stage, maybe…he needs to make sure the bird steer clear of any known areas with those hammer wielding gremlins. “Huh…well, yea, Power Trip is a bit of a weird move. You need other attacks to make it work well, namely those that boosts your Pokémon’s abilities, like the Hone Claws that I had Rookidee use earlier.” He said as he looked at his Rookidee as it perched on his shoulder and gave it a rub on its head.
Tristen would then follow Matteo down the beach to find another mark for his Buizel to take on until Matteo caught sight to something. Tristen wouldn’t be able to blame Buizel for not seeing much of anything other than a bunch of rocks, Tristen wasn’t even sure what to look for until he got the Buizel to fire his water gun in the formation, making the Nacli come out of hiding. “Oh! So that’s what they look like…” Tristen said. He heard about those Pokémon before, just haven’t seen one first hand as of yet. Tristen watched intently as the Buizel started to fight with the Rock type Pokémon. Tristen was hoping just a little this Nacli would put up a bit more of a fight, just to get an idea of what this thing was capable of, but unfortunately, a cruel reminder instead of type matchups as the Nacli gets hosed down by the Water Gun attack.
Tristen then took notice to something falling though as soon as the battle was effectively over. Tristen was astonished to see a Crabrawler out here, realizing that they too were native to Paldea, but then a realization struck when he saw the crab’s sudden demeanor. “Matteo! Watch it!” He tried to warn the Growlithe hybrid, but the warning would come all too late as Buizel took a harsh blow that could almost rival one of Meinshao’s Reversal attacks. When he realized that Buizel wasn’t getting up from that one, Tristen had to immediately take initiative. “Rookidee!” Tristen shouted. The bird quickly fluttered off the Manectric hybrid’s shoulder and started to bolt for the crab. “Aerial Ace!” Tristen shouted. The bird sped up, blazing a trail as flying type power started to form about it to slam into the crab.

The raging Crawbrawler would slap the ground with its powerful claws in victory as it witnessed Matteo's Buizel faint. Because of its gloating it did not see Tristen and his Rookidee step up to the plate to finish this battle, nor did it register the Rookidee attacking it until it was too late. "Brawl...?" Was all the Fighting type crab could get out as it turned its gaze just a second before Rookidee came slamming into it with Aerial Ace. "Craaab!" Cried the Crabrawler out in pain as it stumbled from the force of the attack.
However, it did not faint, the crab swaying and stumbling a bit before it found its footing again, its pinchers appearing particularly heavy in this moment as they rest on the ground, the Crabrawler spotting its attack in the sky and softly grumbling to itself. It barely had any fight in it left, even a Tackle would take it out at this point, if this were a video game and it had a health bar it would be a pixel or two slim with the player questioning the fairness of it surviving the attack. All that said it wasn't going to let some wimpy bird get the best of it, not without some kind of retribution. "CRAB!" It shouted as it picked up a chunk of rock and Fling'd it at the Rookidee.

As the bird smashed the crab and flew on by, Rookidee went to veer around for another pass, originally to see if the crab was down, but it still had fight, if only enough to at least make a desperate ploy to toss rocks at the bird. “Rookidee! Watch it!” Tristen shouted to the bird. The bird would weave about in the air, averting the chunk of rock tossed at it. “Hurry, Rookidee! Try Fury Attack!” Tristen then shouted.
With a loud shrill, the bird went on hard pursuit after the crab, diving after it and went in to claw away with its talons and peck away at the Crabrawler.

The first hit would knock the Crabrawler off its footing, the crustacean stumbling back and never again regaining its balance as it continued to stumble with each strike, flailing its claws around in vain as it never made contact with the bird. After the fourth and final strike the Crabrawler would let out a gasp and suddenly go limp, falling to the ground and passing out. Crabrawler fainted.
"Phew, what was the deal with that thing?" Matteo asked after it was finally put down. "I never seen one coming in that hot and strong. It felt more like a Crabominable than a Crabrawler. Buizel was pretty fresh and it took it out with a single blow." The boy continued. Looking down at Buizel's Pokeball, which contained the sea weasel once more, the boy spoke mostly to himself but loud enough for Tristen to hear. "I'm going to want to backtrack to the Pokemon Center and get you healed..."

Looking down at Buizel's Pokeball, which contained the sea weasel once more, the boy spoke mostly to himself but loud enough for Tristen to hear. "I'm going to want to backtrack to the Pokemon Center and get you healed..." When the Crabrawler finally went down, Tristen walked forward to take assessment of his Rookidee then down at the Crabrawler. He would look it over, eyes narrowing. He recognized a Reversal attack when he saw one, and he had to agree, there would have been otherwise no way that this fighting crab would have done Buizel in so easily unless... "He was already hurt pretty bad. Look, he's been in a bunch of fights already." Tristen told Matteo. "Buizel got hit with a Reversal attack about as full strength as it gets. Probably getting knocked off the side of the cliff probably didn't help either. I wonder how he got beat up before he took out his anger on Buizel?" He then looked around, not really seeing much of anything that would have put the crab in such a state. Maybe he was in the water? He could only guess... Rookidee went back to perching on Tristen's shoulder, but then Tristen would carry the Crabrawler out of the way to be left to recover on his own. He then would go back to Matteo to get a brief glimpse of his Buizel before he would carry him back to the Pokemon center, seeing the state the water weasel was in. "Not how I expected that to go..." Tristen said, looking back towards the Crabrawler for a second. "I'll follow you back to the Pokemon Center."

Matteo would give Tristen a nod before the pair walked off, heading back up the beach towards the Pokemon Center they originally arrived at via taxi. The Nurse Joy would recognize them and question them as why they were back so soon with Matteo explaining the situation with the Crabrawler and his Buizel. The woman would sigh as if this was unsurprising to her.
"Yeah, it's the Arrokuda." She began to explain as she turned to insert Buizel's ball into the healing machine. "It's their spawning season so the ocean around here is swarming with them which causes problems for the local Pokemon. They aren't a particular threat that young, their beaks still soft, however their numbers can frustrate and scare the other Pokemon, like Crabrawler. If I had to guess that Crabrawler likely has a lot more competition for resources after the semiaquatic Pokemon like Buizel and Shellos were drive further inland. Crabrawler doesn't like others intruding on its territory and will defend it with a fight but even a Crabrawler can only fight so much." The woman explained as Buizel was healed, the woman handing the ball back to Matteo by the time she was done.
"Huh, that's really interesting. Thanks all the same, miss!" Matteo said, thanking the woman as he took Buizel back from her. Once that was done the boy would begin to walk off, expecting Tristen to follow, only for him to stare at the ocean for a bit and then turn to face Tristen again. "Think we should move more inland too? You were talking about the swamp earlier, right?"

“Yea, probably wouldn’t hurt. Probably my fault too. I just thought if we avoided the water we wouldn’t have that much of an issue, but I didn’t think on the kind of craziness that the other Pokémon around here would have because of that. We can come back here later just to have lunch or whatever and I could try working on my agility after that, but until then, yea, we can go up and see what the swamp might have.” Tristen said.
Tristen would lead Matteo off, taking the path that he took generally and it wasn’t long until he made his way off to the outer marshy area. It was more mud than anything, with pools of water built up, but nothing substantial. Probably from a prior rain, if one had to guess. It was a wonder how a place like this bordered a beach, but that was the way of Paldea, it seemed. It was a perfect place for Tristen to train his Agility, away enough from civilization to try to do so safely and without sparking some sort of electrical fire. In fact, while he wouldn’t bring it up, he found it odd that the two sticks that he planted into the ground as a Point A and Point B to train his Agility at first almost one month ago manage to stay where they were, figuring that either Pokémon or weather would have dislodged them from the muddy ground. He had forgot about them until he noticed them in their walk deeper into the swamp area.
In spite of how open this sort of place was, this place was rife of Pokémon of a good sorts if one got to looking well enough. Matteo might see Stantler grazing on the tall grass at the edge of a receded pool minding its own business. A pack of Paldean Wooper could be seen if gotten closer enough mud bathing and enjoying themselves under the sun. A Croagunk would be caught sleeping under the morning-leading-to-afternoon sun, maybe wanting to keep in late, amongst other things. There were plenty that could put up a fight, and probably then some if one dared to dig deeper. “Well, what do you think?” Tristen asked Matteo.

Matteo would scan the area after they arrived and Tristen asked for his own input. The Wooper didn't fancy him in the least, nor did the Croagunk, both for the same reasons which was that both species were known for having abilities which allow them to absorb Water. Sure, Buizel had non-Water moves but he didn't particularly care for limiting his Pokemon's move pool so much and so often, this was training for the Pokemon after all and it needed to practice as many of its moves as possible. Instead he pointed at the lone pink creature strutting up onto the scene, the strange bird looking around confused as its head rapidly swiveled around.
"That. That's the one." Matteo said as he pointed at the Pokemon. "A Flamigo! Have you seen one yet? They usually travel in flocks but this one must have gotten separated from its flock. That'll be good pickings for Buizel." The boy said with a cocky grin as he withdrew his Pokemon's ball. "Go, Buizel! Aqua Jet!" He cried out as he chucked the ball in the direction of the Flamigo.
"Zeeel!" Cried Buizel as it burst forth from the ball, a watery bullet as it immediately executed an Aqua Jet, sending itself flying through the air and slamming into the Flamigo violently before the bird even knew what was happening. This would result in the Flamigo being knocked into the mud while Buizel landed gracefully and ready for battle.
"Migo..." Grumbled the Flamgio as it got back onto its feet, or rather foot as it immediately stood on one foot. Register its opponent it let out a cry as it flapped its wings before bounding off the ground with one powerful wing assisted jump. It would close the gap between them with this single jump and deliver a one-two kick to Buizel with a Double Kick, the second kick sending Buizel tumbling backwards. The Flamigo would 'honk' with pride right after.
"Tch...don't gloat just yet." Matteo said as his Pokemon got back on its feet. "Give it a twofer as well! Double hit!" The boy commanded.
With a cry of its own Buizel would get on all fours and rush towards the gloating bird. The Flamigo, too busy in its gloating, would do nothing as Buizel rushed up on it. Buizel would jump up and spin around so its tails were in the birds face and would slap the bird in the face with one Normal energy empowered tail at a time causing the bird to stumble backwards. While it hurt it wasn't enough to prevent the Flamigo from retaliating right after with a Peck against Buizel's head after it landed causing Buizel to stumble back and hold its head where it was hurt.
"Go go go!" The Flamigo laughed once more, throwing its wings up to gloat even more. Buizel would recognize this and growl, becoming annoyed with this bird.
"Come on Buizel! You can take this thing down! Another Double Hit!" Matteo commanded his Pokemon.
Looking up at the Flamigo Buizel would snarl a bit and spit at the ground before charging Normal energy into its tail. With a jump it would attempt to spin around and slam its tails into the Flamigo like before however the white energy engulfing its tails would begin to grow and spread across its body unlike before.
"W-what!?" Matteo shouted in shock.
As the white light consumed Buizel the first tail would slap the Flamigo hard causing its head to whip around. By the time the second tail came around it was much bigger and so was Buizel, though still glowing. The second hit was so hard that it connected with an audible 'crack' and sent the bird flying across the swamp. By the time Buizel landed the glowing was ceasing. While Buizel left the ground as a Buizel it would return to Earth a Floatzel.
"Floooaaat!" Cried the newly evolved Floatzel victoriously as it saw the bird laying in the mud out cold.
"Buizel! I mean, Floatzel! You evolved! Good job!" Matteo shouted as he ran up to his Pokemon and embraced it, giving it pets and congratulatory words. "Tristen! Looked! He finally evolved!" Matteo shouted as he looked back at Tristen, knowing good and well Tristen of course saw this but he didn't care, he was just so happy in this moment.

A Flamigo. He was familiar only in passing. He saw these bird Pokémon early on in his excursion of Paldea, namely around the time he started training the bug Pokémon for Mr. Jacq’s science class. He dared not tried to send a couple of bugs towards that bird’s way, let alone any birds, so he never got to see what these birds were capable of. Barring the blindside out of Matteo, it did come off as a rather rambunctious bird, though admittedly a little surprised to see a Double Kick of all things to be let loose on Buizel. He didn’t think the bird would have been able to do that; not even a Dodrio, a flightless bird, even had anything like that and he would have sooner given that thing credit as opposed to this pink bird.
It was though a bit of a thing though taking note how much this bird was actually pretty boisterous for what it was, effectively embarrassing Buizel, here and there. It honestly started to look a bit dire with how much of a commanding position the bird was. Tristen looked over towards Rookidee, giving him a concerning look that he may need to step in if Buizel couldn’t cut muster on this bird; which unfortunately was starting to look the case with how cocky the Flamigo was. However, Tristen would note that Buizel, like Matteo, too was determined to bring down this bird and put it down a notch or two. Tristen would do as he has done and only come in right at the absolute last second.
It would be fortunate that it wasn’t the case. Tristen had to turn away a second as the white light started to come forth from Buizel but as the light faded, Tristen went from concern to pleasantly surprised. Buizel had pushed through its limits and evolved, finishing off the Flamigo in stellar fashion. “There we go!” Tristen cheered along with Matteo. He would follow Matteo, taking a walking pace as the Growlithe hybrid ran to go scoop up his now Flotzel in a loving embrace. “Congrats, Flotazel. You did great. You both did. Worth the trip all the out here after all, huh?” Rookidee chirped out in celebration as well.

Both Matteo and Floatzel would turn to face Tristen and give him a thumbs up while grinning wide, the pair over the moon over the evolution. "You can say that again!" Matteo responded, turning to give his Pokemon one more high five before recalling the Pokemon to its ball. With his new Floatzel tucked away in its ball Matteo would come down off his high enough to focus back on Tristen and their training. "So, did you want to find something for Rookidee or did we want to get back to the Agility training? I'm honestly okay with either one. Would be cool if we could get your Rookidee to also evolve today. Two evolutions in a single day would be awesome!" Matteo said, appearing still excited over everything.

So it’ll be a little while before he is probably going to be ready to evolve.” He said reaching up and giving his bird an affectionate scratch around his head. “And Sprigatito is my newest when I came back to Paldea after recovery so it’ll definitely be a while. Nemona might have that kind of battle frenzy, but I don’t. Even Pokémon are going to going to need to catch a break. They’ll evolve in their own time, like I said yesterday. And even so, I got all school year, never mind that I managed to evolve two of them just yesterday. Maybe I’ll get a little training in later, but right now, I just want to try to get progress done with Agility while I still got the opportunity.” Tristen said.

"That's fair..." Matteo said, scratching his chin a bit. He had to admit to himself, it did catch him slightly off guard as he traditionally thought evolving your Pokemon was always the best option but as Tristen once explained to him there were scenarios where holding off on evolution was some times the option. He didn't know if he agreed with that mindset just yet but he was willing to humor and respect it. Moving on from that topic he turned his focus back to the question of Agility, now scanning their swampy environment and frowned.
"So do you think a swamp is good for training Agility?" He questioned as he kicked some mud off his shoe. "Actually...I guess it could be good, put some strain on ya, right?" He said, thinking about it again. Then an idea hit him. "Let's have a race! To the river just north of us. First one there gets to decide where we go next, how about it?" He said with a grin.
