[Pride History] [In the Beginning]The first creation of the outlands was done so by the exiled lioness from the pridelands, Zira, who despised king Simba for overthrowing her mate king Scar.
Zira led her pride with treachery and hate, going so far as to plan a coup that would hopefully allow her to take over the pridelands again.
When Zira's plan failed and she was defeated, due to Kovu falling in love with princess Kiara, the outlands pride was allowed to join with the pridelanders once again.
It was thought that the entirety of the outlands pride had dispersed that day, but few know the story of what actually happened to the last outlanders.
After Zira's death and defeat, and most of the pride rejoining the pridelanders, a small group who were still loyal to Scar and Zira stayed behind.
The small pride was wrought with in-fighting and deceit, unable to mobilize any sort of attack or retribution on their betrayers, and eventually they were all but forgotten to history.
[Current Events]As the generations went on, it became a tradition for the leader, the warlord, to take over the pride through any means necessary. Murder, threat, and lies were common tactics.
Although the outlands has remained small and mostly kept to itself throughout the years, a sudden shift in dynamics has occurred.
Warlord Muuaji, a young and brash individual, has begun allowing outsiders to join the pride. Murderers, thieves, exiles, and outcasts are all welcomed under his reign.
He has also allowed a clan of hyenas to take up residence among the pride, after defeating their matriarch in combat. Thus far, they have proven quite useful to the pride as a whole.
Warlord Muuaji has also begun waging war on smaller prides closest to the outlands, as a way to gain hunting grounds and resources valuable in the outlands.
No one quite knows what his ambitions are, but those closest to the warlord whisper that his eyes are set on bringing ruin to the pridelands once again.

[Pride Territory] The outlands is a barren wasteland of a territory, with little to no prey and the only reliable access to water being a crocodile infested river that borders the pridelands. Danger and tragedy are but mere seconds away every moment. This harsh environment breeds even harsher predators, who do not hesitate to take what they can get when they can get it. The circle of life is more or less unheard of here in this unforgiving landscape. During the wet season flash floods can be dangerous in the canyons, though it does eventually bring in fresh grass and some wandering herds of prey beasts, though it never lasts very long so the pride takes as much as they can get during these times. Dry Brush: Throughout most of the year, this plain is typically covered in brittle and dry brush that only the most desperate of prey animals will eat. However, during the few wet seasons seen in the outlands, the grass turns lush and green, drawing in wandering herds of animals to feast on the fresh grasses. Unfortunately, this often leads to their doom as the outlands pride over hunts to get as much food as possible during these times of plenty.
Canyons: Most of the outlands is covered in rocky canyons, with winding pathways that can easily trap and confuse those who are unwary enough to know where they are going. Many cave systems create crevices that can be used as den sites for the various animals that call the outlands home. Some of the canyons border the pridelands, and though they are heavily patrolled by the guards of the prideslands, sometimes prey animals will find their way into the canyons by accident, only to meet their demise by the hunters of the outlands.
The Volcano: In the heart of the outlands' canyons is a solitary volcano that feeds the surrounding area with steam vents. Though it is not an active volcano, its presence is not taken lightly by the inhabitants of the outlands. Many are wary and try to avoid it as much as possible, as its eerie and the air often smells of sulfur.
Termite Mounds: The original outlanders, led by Zira, made their home near these oversized termite mounds, though few call them home now. In times of desperation, the plentiful insects may help to sate hunger for a time being.
Elephant Graveyard: The original home of the hyena clan that had helped king Scar gain power in the pridelands. Though it is now deserted, an eerie presence can still be felt in this place, almost as if the land itself does not wish to be trespassed upon. Many steam vents from the volcano are fed into the elephant graveyard, making the terrain dangerous to pass through, with the smell of sulfur almost to overpowering degrees. The hissing of these steam vents can sometimes sound like a ghostly hyena's laughter, which has caused many to stay far away from this place.

[Pride Culture] The outlanders, though a rough and tumble bunch, do typically stick together through difficult times. They understand that they have a better chance of survival together than they do alone, and in such an unforgiving environment they need as much power as they can get in order to pull through. It's been generations since Zira led the outlands to war against the pridelands, and the pride has mostly given up on ever exacting revenge, but they do as a whole have a particular distaste for the pridelands and its lions. The fact that the pridelands is so prosperous, with little to no hardship, absolutely leaves a bitter feeling on the tongues of the outlanders who have to scrap and scrape for every morsel of food. Due to this difficult lifestyle, true outlanders are typically on the smaller side, with coarse coats and ragged or scruffy looking manes. Others with more rogue blood in them can vary in size with larger manes and smoother coats. Leadership: The role of leadership is not given or passed down to anyone, it is taken and stolen away from weak leaders by the strong or ambitious, who hold onto it with iron claws. The current warlord may need to defend his or her hold on the title many times during their reign, often leading to the death of their opponents or themselves in the process. Warlords hold supreme power over the outlands and not a decision is made without their approval. In the past, warlords have kept the outlands to itself, surviving on what little the land provided; but recently the new warlord has restructured the pride into one of conquest. Much turmoil has been brought up by this decision, but none have dared to challenge it head on it.
Hyenas: A new addition to the pride. Hyenas are to be viewed as equals to common ranked lions and assist in day-to-day activities. Some lions have pushed back on this a bit, but the majority have seen the benefit of the extra muscle provided by the hyena clan. They help hunt, watch over cubs, and guard territory claimed by the outlands pride.
Other Prides: Other prides are regarded as potential targets and assets, not allies. The outlands have so little in terms of food or water, it cannot possibly sustain the pride and the hyena clan all at once. So, the outlanders have taken to raiding and warring against any neighboring prides for their resources. Politics and attempts to talk to the outlanders are met with harsh claws and fangs, who find it much easier to take what they need, rather than try and negotiate for it. [Ranking Up]To become an elite rank, lions must prove themselves worthy in the eyes of the warlord. In order to become a: Destroyer: a lion needs to have fought in 3 duels against other members of the pride. Winning is not necessary.
Seeker: a lion needs to have completed 3 roleplays within the pride, where they interact with other members.

The outlands is home to a scrappy pride of lions who have allied themselves with a clan of hyenas. Resources are scarce and the pride will go to great lengths to ensure their survival, even if that means going to war against any neighboring prides. [Pride Leaders]Warlord: The leader of the pride, male or female they are referred to as warlord. They rule the pride with an iron claw and have the authority to declare war on neighboring prides. They deal with most in-pride issues as well as any outside negotiations with other prides. To become the warlord, they had to wrest control of the pride away from their predecessor one way or another, often ending in the death of their rival. [Elite Ranks]Destroyer: The most skilled fighters of the pride. They are responsible for training the fighters, and directly lead groups of fighters into battle. They get their orders from the Warlord and have proven themselves to be loyal.
Seeker: Lions skilled in stealth and reconnaissance. A seeker's job is to scout neighboring territories for weakness and potential resources for the outlands. They report their findings to the Warlord. [Common Ranks]Fighter: The soldiers of the pride. They train daily to keep up their fighting prowess, and are under the direct leadership of a destroyer when they are sent out to battle.
Guardian: These lions watch over the youth of the pride while their parents attend their duties. They make sure they don't wander off into danger, but any cubs under their care are mostly free to play and do as they wish.
Hunter (Default): Being a hunter in the outlands can be a grueling test of one's skill and patience. There isn't much food to go around, and it's up to these lions to provide for their whole pride. A task much easier said, then done.
Sentry: The guards of the pride. They aggressively defend their territory and resources from outsiders. The outlands has very limited resources, and keeping those resources safe could mean the life or death of their friends and family.
Cub: The youth of the pride, free to grow up wild without much pride structure to reign them in, though some parents may be stricter than others. As soon as cubs grow into adolescents they begin training and learning how to fight by sparing with one another. [Ally Animals]Below are the only other animals the pride is willing to ally itself with. All others will be seen as competition and food! Hyena: The lions of the outlands have a history with hyenas and see these cackling carnivores as great boons to their society. They are considered equals to common ranked lions, but are expected to follow the orders of any lion stationed above them. This particular clan of hyena do not have their own matriarch, and instead view the Warlord as their leader. Each individual hyena does not hold any particular rank, and typically accompany lions on their duties depending on what they want to do that day, be it hunting, guarding, or training for battle. Some hyenas even prefer to watch over cubs all day, both lion and hyena. They are trusted allies within the pride.
