ADAPTABLE Phoebe has Wren’s brilliance, Sparrow’s mimicry, and Robin’s diligence, and puts them all to play in pursuit of possibilities– She believes that constantly learning, growing, changing, creating, and going with the flow as contexts change and shift, is not only the best thing a person can do, but also the single unchanging destiny of every soul. Her adaptability is one of the things that contributes to her apparent genius in whatever she sets her mind to. This adaptability seems to come at a cost though– her abilities aren’t always consistent, and she doesn’t always express herself to the same degree:

OBSERVANT Phoebe reads. If she cannot read, she watches. She is keen on watching and understanding what is going on with people around her. Beyond observing, Phoebe interrogates and organizes these observations, condensing them calmly into her own conclusions. She notes what people do and say, how they look, counts her observations, and wonders why people do what they do.

CONTEMPLATIVE/ DREAMY Phoebe’s favorite questions are “What if,”, “Why?”, and“Was it worth it?”. Hypothetical questions are her favorite kind of questions, and she will take hypotheticals as seriously as she can and offer as many answers in as much detail as she can. Phoebe loves learning, but she’s not after some grand Truth or any idealistic notion of expertise– she just likes thinking of revisionist histories–or as she calls them, “alternate timelines/ worlds”--and learning helps with that. The more she learns, the more detailed her fantasy worlds get, and her favorite pastime is extrapolating off one change into a whole new world.

EMPATHETIC/ASTUTE Phoebe spends much of her life in her own head, contemplating possibilities and writing alternate timelines– only the characters remain consistent. Despite this–or perhaps because of this–she sometimes demonstrates surprising insight into people around her. Still, Phoebe prefers the sanctuaries of her own mind and the multiple worlds within to retreat to. Anything that shows up in doodles or writings is only the tip of the imaginary iceberg.

STRAIGHTFORWARD/ ACERBIC Phoebe’s usual innocent dreaminess is offset by her being direct and purposeful, if irreverent, in speech as well as action. When she knows she needs something, she asks for assistance directly. Sometimes she naively takes people at face value, other times she identifies and explains subtext with unnerving precision. She’s patient but efficient, not wasting time when–if– she knows exactly what she wants.

✦✧EARLY CHILDHOOD Phoebe’s earliest memory was when she was three, seeing the midmorning sky outside her window light up in a flash of lightning. A single, brilliant, beautiful explosion out of the sky. She was awake then, but that night she dreamed of a pastel-colored world with sky whales and angels where everything was perfect and peaceful.

Phoebe was three when the Siddall Bloodbath happened and five when the Winchester Massacre happened. She doesn’t remember Nim’s family aside from the stories that are told, and barely remembers her own parents and grandparents. She kept their memory alive by asking for stories and dreaming of hypotheticals and wonderful new worlds in which the disasters never happened. She doesn’t remember the day they died– despite all the stories and news reports, Phoebe can't honestly say she remembers anything from the night.

After the Winchester Massacre, Phoebe and her older siblings Robin and Flick were raised by their older brother Wren and his boyfriend, Nimbus, who had lost his own family a few years before. Nim’s half-sister, Aella Siddall, was raised as Phoebe’s sister and best friend. Flick was later adopted by Sparrow, and Wren and Nimbus adopted another child, Ambrose, shortly before they got married.

Phoebe had been homeschooled at the wizarding library like her siblings before her for her first few years. Even then, Phoebe liked listening to or reading stories, and if there was nothing around to read, she would watch people around her and make up her own stories. Starting around first grade, she and her siblings attended muggle elementary schooling in Winchester–Phoebe was fine insomuch as she spent all day reading or doodling her daydreams, but much preferred MagiScouts after school, and any self-study she could squeeze in at home. Wren and Nim’s friends often babysat, and whether that was One-Eyeball Uncle Eion or Plant Auntie Aspen, Phoebe always had a series of questions to ask.
