The young Miyanari was in the hall, having listened to the proctors fail two other examinees for not showing up in the allotted time, and for blatantly cheating. Akane giving a soft head shake as she looked over the rules for the next part of the exam as well, "...finally... Trial by Combat. Only have to compete once... but at the risk of losing half my points from the written test." She rubs her chin as she realizes she wasn't even told her score, so the proctors were playing a very different game here. Before having a chance to assess her potential challengers, one ninja from her group walks up, likely Sasaki or Raelyn... as Reed was a more masculine sounding name... and asked if she cared to be the first match up. "Haha... Of course. Name is Miyanari Akane." She offered her hand in friendship, before the two went to the stadium.
Once she crossed the threshold of the stadium though, Akane was quick to draw the spear from her back and twirl it with a flourish as she stands on one side of the ring. Her ruby reds look to Sasaki as she smiles warmly, "So let us have a good, friendly match? What do you say?" This girl was either really confident in her test grades or her abilities... while Akane was not so sure her grades were worth stealing. Least she passed the first part of the exam, so that is a point in her favor.

Sasaki Daimyo Sasaki took her spot in the one-on-one arena that had been chosen for the conflict about to unfold before the very world. It was time to show off just how strong the Hidden Katana's warriors could be, and she had picked a fresh face for a demonstration. Sure, she was confident in her skills, and why shouldn't she be? The white-haired girl was born from a line that specialized in swordplay, and even more so, she had a power that few would dare to even use. The Celestial Chakra Gates...
The referee gave the signal, and the fight was on. "Sasaki... No last name to speak of. Kinda happens when you're an orphan...", Sasaki smirked at Akane as she drew her sword, The White Raven. "We shall show the world just what we're made of, either in triumph or defeat.", she said before bowing her head in a friendly gesture. The large claymore touched the ground with a heavy 'thud', causing a dent in the arena floor. Despite its overall weight and size, Sasaki seemed to be able to wield it with no issue. This might be cause for alarm under normal circumstances, but these were ninja on the cusp of becoming Chunin. This is where the mundane crossed paths with the extraordinary.
The real fun started as Sasaki suddenly moved with the grace and speed that one should not be able to move with while using a sword as large as she was. It had everything to do with the fact that the weapon contained a hidden quality, a Speed Emitter, and she trained in weights and the physical to the extreme since she had no ninjutsu or genjutsu talent at all. Two white flashes of light would slam outward at Akane in an 'X' pattern, as the two slashes were the force of one combined with the fact she had poured more chakra into them to throw her off her footing if she somehow survived. It was clear that while she did not go all out on her strike, she was not playing with kid gloves either. Like a ninja, she was determined to utilize the lethal arts of swordplay to incapacitate her opponent in as few moves as possible.

Akane was faced with a quick, and clever opponent indeed, and if she had faltered then she would lose the match in an instant. Not concerned with the basic feel of her opponent, the Miyanari youth sent the chakra into her eyes to active the Hidden Cloud's doujutsu, Ryuugan, causing her irises to turn red while her pupil became shaped more like a foxes own. This was only a momentary change though, as the color faded and fogged over, her vision faded fast till nothing, but complete darkness remained. Despite losing the use of her eyes, and the vision tied to it, Akane now picked up the minor movements of her opponent's body, the sound of that large blade cutting firmly through the air with its quick motions. Acting as quickly as she could, the now blinded woman caught the blade with the shaft of her spear, all while pushing in to parry the attack with one of her own. Akane, while not aiming for a fatal strike had gone for a weak point in Sasaki's defense with her parry. "I agree... though I was not expecting you to go out the gate giving me your all. I do appreciate that kind of effort and heart." She felt the sharp pain slice into her as the displaced air was the only notice she got about a second strike with that large, heavy blade.

Sasaki Daimyo Sasaki felt the sting of Akane's spear going into her chest and nearly missing her heart in response to her surprisingly fast sword strikes. This would be cause for concern, as most people would have been incapacitated or even slain outright by such a counter strike. Sasaki, however, was still standing, even as she ripped the spear free from her body and began to laugh. "Haha...", she chuckled before her eyes looked up at Akane, and the strain from the Chakra Gate of View became evident. "It's too bad you aren't looking at me, because I want you to see... WHAT GOING ALL OUT LOOKS LIKE!!", the white-haired kunoichi from the Hidden Katana Village roared in triumph. "
Sasaki thought to herself as she opened the chakra gates, knowing full well this was going to be a 'do or die' type situation she was entering into. She could either look incredibly weak to this rather unknown individual and embarrass herself on the world's stage of competition, or she could break the limits of her mortal frame and fight on a level few could match. "Kaimon... Open! Kyumon...Open! Seimon...Open!", she roared as her wounds mysteriously regenerated and the surge of chakra tinted her skin red from the increased blood flow. Her sweat, filled with chakra made a pale green aura around her that was visible to even those without doujutsu capable of seeing chakra. The feeling would be rather intense as she began to 'power up' to eventually unleash hell.

Half expecting another barrage of attacks, Akane slide back into a defensive from right after her opponent pulls away from the tip of her spear. She was to parry another round of blows but only received her opponent screaming in her general direction about 'What going All Out looks like' in those exacting words. "I apologize if my words offended you, I was meaning to praise your spirit and ferocity." The young Miyanari replied in apology if it was her words, or tone, that made Sasaki so angry to yell at her. 'Geez... I am blind not deaf' Would then cross the mind of the spear wielding user as the pressure to be constantly on the defensive. The very air around Sasaki changed instantly as she lets the chakra within her surge. This was it... the time and opening that the young Miyanari had needed to turn the tide of combat.
Spinning her spear Akane hid the arm holding the weapon so to keep it hidden from the view of her opponent, as she circled to the side of the Hidden Katana girl. Her ears flooding with the pulses of chakra and the rapid increase of her heartbeat. It sounded bout ready to burst from her chest as she called out 'Kyumon'. With a lightning-fast spin and flourish, Akane thrust out with her weapon while aimed to once again strike in a weak, or exposed spot. Even with no intent to kill, the spearwoman owed her opponent the best she could offer in both the offense and defense... so that neither of them walked away feeling cheated or like a chump. Akane flourished the weapon once more spinning the polearm around her body as light and lightning built up along its blade, the light growing brighter and brighter till it becomes blinding to anyone looking in the general direction of the Miyanari. The light growing so blight that it was blinding and painful to even look in her direction. Hidden in his light was yet another strike aimed for Sasaki.

It was over in a flash, literally. When the light exploded around Sasaki, she had already been moving at speeds that the Miyanari girl shouldn't be able to comprehend, so fast, that she did not feel the spear strikes nearly kill her until she was floored from the force of the second one. Unfortunately, it seemed like she had picked the wrong opponent for this fight. However, she wasn't disappointed by the effort. From there, she fell unconscious, and the gate's energy dissipated.
As Sasaki's mind floated into the space of her subconscious, she had to wonder what she might do to improve herself. So that she could be the ruler that the Katana Village deserved one day. She only hoped that it wasn't the end of the road for that dream.
